I remember watching this episode after school I use to run home to watch Thundercats, but this was the first time I seen the Sword Of Omens get beat I was shocked!.
This is one of the FEW times the sword is actually used AS A SWORD. The fact that actually have a SWORD-FIGHT (as opposed to blasting each other with light-beams) make it even rarer...
Panthro was basically like a big favourite uncle. He'd allow you the freedom to make your own judgements and when things don't work out, he'll call you a d!ck but say you know better now for the future.
@@PsychomachineryEBM Well he was still immature at this point. Remember physically he's and adult but he lost like 10 years or so due to the malfunction with his pod causing him to still age. This was actually an episode that aired during the anointment trials and thus was either set before or shortly after he became the True Lord.
This was and still is one of my all time favorite episodes of thundercats. I loved King Arthur and the Knights of the round table as well as the story of Excalibur when I was growing up. When I first saw this episode it was like crazy exciting because here I had excalibur and thundercats with the sword of omens. I was actually cheering for excalibur in that swordfight. ☺☺😜😜
@Smokey 420 Arthur was not killed by Lancelot. He was mortally wounded in battle with Mordred, then had Bedevere cast Excalibur back into the lake it came from, and was taken to the Isle of Avalon by Morgause and her sisters, there to sleep until he is again needed. Or so the legend goes.
For some reason this was my favorite episode. Probably because this was as close as Mummra ever got to kicking lion-Os ass. Sorry sometimes I just need to see the bad guy wins because you know he has enough power to do it....
Definitely a top ten episode this one. Awesome seeing ‘Arthur’ come in and school ‘Lord’ Lion-o and there are some moments of sheer brilliance. The glove slap, stepping on lion-o’s shoulder as he gets off his horse...back-handing Snarf in the face (we all wanted to do that) and best of all, the gorgeous freeze frame animation you see at 0.51 and during the jousting. We were so lucky to have this show when we were kids
There was one that was (arguably) even greater: *Durandal,* the holy sword of the original and greatest Paladin, Roland. (In terms of power comparison in fantasy, in Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Excalibur was anywhere from +3 to +5 while Durandal was the only +7 sword in the game!)
Lion - o should have known when he saw that sword, that he had no change. The shear power of that beam would have force me to surrender the fight. Even as the sword of Omens beams was active, shear power of the Excaliber sworn was forcing him back. This was one of the best episodes that I ever seen.
@@jasonhearn5818 it that were true then the Sword of Omens would have won the fight. We saw them fighting at their best and Excalibur won. Therefore it proved it was more powerful
@@jduttskywalker nah by example superman is arguably the most powerful hero and he has kryptonite as a weakness and so he can be physically superior to his opponent but if they get kryptonite no matter how weak or stronger they are they can kill superman
If Mumm-Ra had not shout his mouth off by revealing himself to the Thundercats and out loud Merlin wouldn't have appeared and restored the Eye Of Thundera to life and Mumm-Ra would have gotten the last laugh
I recall seeing this and figured that the swords would merge as one at the end - combining the power. Two things I want to point out. 1 Since it was returned to the Lady of the Lake, I guess that means the real King Arthur has yet to return ( He won't live long upon arising again, one look at what is world has become, he'll die of heart failure immediately🏰🏚️😵💔⚰️). 2. Since, the Lake was so close, that means that the Thundercats most likely live in or near, what was once Britain.
Weirdly, if that's true then it's surprising that an ancient Egyptian pyramid is right there. I'm not a geography nerd but I thought Egypt was pretty far from the UK.
i know this is old comment but im going to reply any ways short answer NO, after he was mummified mumra was banished from our earth to 2nd earth and 3rd earth is 2nd earths future. as for talking to the lady of the lake in some myths its said you can speak with the lady from any lake or it was a simple over site on the writing staffs part and they didnt know.
Man that bring back a lot of memories from my childhood back in 1985 Lionel sword of omens versus Excalibur sword back in ancient times where there's no technology exist is like two ninjas going at it only one Ninja can whoop the other ninjas butt that sound funny hope all the ThunderCats I love I got a crush on cheetara she is one pretty cheetah she run like lightning but she ever getting a foot race of Superman she'll lose that battle the Superman can fly around the world in 30 seconds he can out muscle anybody and he can walk around the world in less than 10 seconds he can bench press 2 million tons with ease well that's how strong Superman is and he got a great sense of kindness and a great sense of humor I knew that voice sound familiar that's the voice of Mama that evil mummy
I swear Thundercats may have been the most pro-masculine cartoon on television in the 1980s, outside of maybe GI Joe. I swear to God, half of Lion-O's battles/contest were more about honor than good vs. evil.
The fact that you consider honor a masculine trait, rather than it being a HUMAN one says a something about your way of thinking... IMO, many women seem deficient in character... Ask a woman is she would ever apologize for being wrong, see what she says....LOL
Stop doing satan's horns. Unless you want to end up in hell after passing away with the deciever satan for representing him . Denounce satan and his trademark horns and willingly accept God=Lord Jesus Christ as your Savior and personally confess your wrongdoings to Him and repent while there is time. We all must do it as sinners before it is too late.

I like it after the battle when Excalibur knows what it's done and refuses to be pulled out the ground by mumm-ra because it is like the sword of omens
Are there any other cartoons like thundercats from this era I mean, cartoons that were also partly japanese projects I know that this, Silverhawks, and Ulysses 31 were both cartoons that have japanese influence
