Top 5 Swords of Power from the 80's 

Hey guys! Love reading all your comments and seeing the reasoning behind your choices! Some really funny ones down there hahaha in regards to why VOLTRONS blazing sword is not on here, I made this video so each of you could choose which you’d like to use for yourselves in everyday life, would you choose he-man’s to turn into a beast? Thundarr’s for easy transport? Or even sword of omens to do.... virtually anything lol last I checked, we are not all GIANT ROBOTS composed of various sections, so that GIANT SWORD is obviously not on here. You cannot use it lol And this was only top 5 swords, this is why Galtar‘s lance is not on here either, it’s a lance... lol I know it can form 2 swords but this is top 5 swords of power. Not a “top 5 swords and possibly an exceptional lance” video lol. To everyone putting down the list saying it’s garbage, I’m garbage and all the swear words and name calling, you’re entitled to your own opinion! ❤️ No hard feelings!

Sword of Omens had the coolest design. Unlike other swords that were just big and bulky, it had elegance

The Sword of Omens is the one with the most beautiful design and the incredible Thundercats logo on it

I remember there’s an episode of The Thundercats with The Black Knight. In that episode they mention that the most powerful sword ever made was Excalibur. Still the sword of Omens is the coolest one.

Thundarr may not have the best sword but I enjoyed the show far more than the others. The setting was great and seemed like so much more going on in the art for that show.

Nothing can beat the Sword of Power for me. I grew up watching He-Man and playing with the toys, it has a special place in my heart.

Give me He Man's Sword, "BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL" just sounds awesome.

The Sword of Omens hands down is the coolest sword ever! It’s no coincidence that it was number one on the list. It even had its own theme music for different sounds or uses. I get the chills every time I hear them! Great video!

Sword of Power and Protection are my swords of choice. He-man's sword also adapts his armor based off the situation. Hince Battle Armor, Snake Armor, etc. She-ra's sword also gives her the ability to heal, communicate to animals and strength equal to her brother. Both swords adapt and evolve, making them in my opinion the most powerful.

Sword of Omen. You can say "ho" as much as you want.

HE-MAN'S SWORD LITERALLY MAKES YOU THE "MOST POWERFUL IN YOUR UNIVERSE" Think ill go with that one

in Thunder Cat lore there is a Stronger Sword than the sword of omen -and that is Excalibur!!

The Sword of Omens was defeated by Excalibur, so I'm going with He-Man's Sword of Power.

I had no idea that She-Ra's Sword of Power could change form. I love the Sword of Grayskull but for me the Sword of Omens wins every time. it's just so epic!

Fun fact: Skeletor already has the other half. It is in the canonical 80's storybooks that accompanied the cartoon. His sword he uses occasionally is the other half, he wants the complete Sword of Power because it is the key to Greyskull's power reserves.

Sword of power ftw. It turns you into He-man, heals you, slices through Superman (or anything), and is indestructible.

I'd rate the Sword of Power #2 behind the Sword of Omens personally. Having a jewel in the middle of the Street of protection that if broken renders it powerless is a major flaw that the Sword of Power doesn't have.

Excalibur should be at no.1 Anybody who’s seen that Thundercats episode knows what I’m talking about.

Has to be the Sword of Omens. The Eye of Thundera can grant so much power. I always figured it seemed to be more powerful as the series went on because Lion-O learned how to better control and focus it's power as he overcame new challenges. Everything it could do near the end of the series it could have done at the start if Lion-O had simply known of what it was capable of doing. Plus how awesome is the command, "Sword of Omens, give me power beyond power!"

The Magical Sword from the Legend of Zelda was my favorite as a kid. I had a cheap plastic sword that looked similar and I would make the large kite shield out of cardboard with masking tape for the cross.

Excalibur actually beat the Sword of Omens in an episode

She-Ra's sword. I'm a girl. I don't want a sword that turns me into a muscle-bound man.

I have to go with the Sword of Power. Unlike all of the swords on this list, it has never been broken nor needs to be recharged. The blade grants you VAST super human powers...strength enough to push the moon out of orbit, super human speed enough to reverse tornadoes/whirlpools and out run huge explosions, agility to block bullets and energy bolts from point blank range, and possibly super fighting ability as Adam seemed very inept while He-man was a very good fighter (I can't confirm this though...Adam would often lose to Teela in training sessions...but he might have been pretending to be bad to protect his identity, while most times other loses he suffered were usually from ambush). The Power Sword can pretty much block or parry anything the other swords can do. In the oldest original mini-comics, Skeletor used the blade to teleport, mind control, and empower others, but these probably don't count as they were done before any real continuity (Adam, for example didn't exist yet and He-man normally used an axe). While the Sword of Omens is extremely powerful, and comparing it to the Sword of Power, it probably overall is better...it suffers from debilitating weaknesses. As mentioned, covering the Eye of Thundara renders the blade powerless, breaking or damaging the Eye can also render it powerless...and even kill the entire race of Thunder Cats! The blade itself is not as indestructible as it might seem, as a rather strong cyborg named Tug Mug was able to snap it with ease...again...rendering it useless. As far as I can tell, the Sword of Omens does NOT confer any super human power to the wielder. Lion-O was already very strong, fast, ect...and didn't seem any more or less so when he had the blade or not. So, while the Sword of Power might not have the most raw power of these blades, IMO, it's more than powerful enough and...as far as I have seen in the original cartoon and mini comics, possesses no weaknesses. It's my sword of choice! :)

Awesome video, Laura! You're great! As a He-Man, She-Ra, and Thundercats fan, the Sword of Power, the Sword of Protection, and the Sword of Omens are my favorites.

Totally forgot about Blackstar, loved that show but Thunder was one of my favorites. Only lasted two seasons but left a lasting Impression. I miss Saturday mornings 😑

I go with the Sword of Omens. It's a really cool sword and I like it when the Thundercats signal appears in the sky and hear the roar as well. The Sword of Power and Sword of Protection come in right behind.

This is missing The Golden Lance from Halter and the Golden Lance. The Lance is basically 2 long swords connected at the base of their hilts. It can also shoot sword beams.

Lion-O's Sword of Omens is definitely the most OP of them all, and I would also argue it's the coolest looking too. I'd like to offer an honourable mention to Ulysses' laser sword/pistol, however, it's just a regular weapon and doesn't have any supernatural abilities.

How about Voltron's Blazing Sword? It can be created at any time and cuts all of his ene,irs in half then they explode. It also sounds really cool when Keith says "Form Blazing Sword!" Awesome name for a weapon.

Sword of Omens is the greatest but He-man had the best transformation. I still get hyped and as a kid it was just awesome. Especially with sugary cereal.

I've always found it interesting when I was a teen that He-Man had to get melanin in order to become super. Message black people,😨 he goes from pale skin weak two brown skin and strong. 😂

It always cracks me and my son up that the first time Lion O uses the sword's "sight beyond sight" ability, it literally shows him something happening directly in front of him.

Nothing beats The Sword of Omens. It is so iconic that it is almost a character rather than a weapon. Just the music to cue up the Sword powering up and the Sight Beyond Sight, and just the look of the sword is amazing. My only issue with the Sword of Omens is the "deus ex machine" aspect, but I could easily apply that to most of the other swords too. The Sunsword, Starsword, Sword of Power, and Sword of Protection are all great too...but nothing compares to the Sword of Omens.
