Thank you for making this video. I couldn't get my head around how I could show the status for each of the IT tickets for various team members, your video was very clear and I followed your step by steps guidance and now I can show how each team member is progressing - it has saved me hours!

Hi There, this is helpful but, if I have a variety of different products and a cycle times that I have captured over a year, how would I lookup a Product ID and find the most occurring cycle time for that product?

@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 9 лет назад
Welcome to Razdom I'm glad I could help you understand COUNTIF and COUNTIFS. The - displays instead of zero with a custom number format that instructs Excel to display a - instead of zero. You can read more about Custom Number Formats here: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-custom-cell-formats

Hi. That was really useful video but please tell me how can I count cells containing different figures but at same range? For example the range A6:A135 is in the same column, the cells I need to count (the criteria) are containing the figures 41, 42, 43 and 44. Is COUNTIF a variant?
@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 4 года назад
You need COUNTIFS e.g.: =COUNTIFS(A6:A135,">"&40,A6:A135,"
@teostoichev6691
@teostoichev6691 4 года назад
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thank you very much! Actually it worked with the following syntaxis: =COUNTIFS(A6:A135;">40";A6:A135;"

I know this video is older, but: I'm trying to create a calendar for an online class. I want each month to show out to the side how many weekdays in the month. I've highlighted the squares that are weekdays, and those that do not fall within that month have a light gray fill. The squares that do fall within the month have no fill. So, I've tried: =COUNTIFS(C4:G14,"cells with no fill"), and 1 or 2 others (can't remember exactly because I already undid them) and I've tried COUNTIF also. The result keeps coming up 0. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 2 года назад
You can't count fill colour or lack of it. You can use this formula where the first day of the month is in cell A1: =NETWORKDAYS.INTL(A1,EOMONTH(A1,0)) If you have further questions, please post your question and sample Excel file on our forum where we can help you further: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-forum

Hi, how are you? Can I have mulltiple criterias listed? Or just 1
@MyOnlineTrainingHub

The COUNTIFS function allows you to specify multiple criteria, but only one criteria per column.

Another great video, that unfortunately doesn't address my situation. Using your example: I would want to know how many times a number appears in the Units column that is greater than 3, but less than 10, which in this example would be 3. For my purpose, cells D2 through D7 are a named range. Thanks.
@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 5 лет назад
Hi Fred, this should work: =COUNTIFS(named_range, ">"&3, named_range, "
@fred0447
@fred0447 5 лет назад
Thank you for your reply. My experience found that COUNTIFS is limited to interrogating multiple ranges, and multiple criteria only, not the same range twice. Since I sent this question to several areas, for clarity, in my particular situation, I have a named range and want to know how many cells within the range contain a number between 500, and 599, or, more than 499 but less than 600. Using COUNTIF, I found this to be the solution: =COUNTIF(namedRange;"499")-COUNT(namedRange) This approach counts each cell in the range, while counting the ones within the criteria twice, then subtracts the range leaving only the criteria. I liked it, but further research found a much more direct, and streamlined solution using SUMPRODUCT instead: =SUMPRODUCT(namedRange>=500;namedRange
@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 5 лет назад
Hi Fred, COUNTIFS is not restricted to interrogating multiple ranges. The criteria in a COUNTIFS is considered AND, so this formula: =COUNTIFS(namedRange,">="&500,namedRange,"
@fred0447
@fred0447 5 лет назад
OK. Seems there is always more than one way to skin a cat. But my SUMPRODUCT example does work, exactly as I have described it. I agree SUMPRODUCT could be much more confusing to a novice user than COUNTIF(S), but so are a great many of other functions as well. LOL
@MyOnlineTrainingHub
@MyOnlineTrainingHub 5 лет назад
Hmm, I'd like to see your file with your SUMPRODUCT formula working as you entered it above, it returns zero for me. Maybe your European (?) settings allow it to work differently, but didn't think that was the case.
