In my opinion "fanfiction" is when a story revolves around a certain person or fictional person (like from a show or something) and their life and characteristics. But Anna only used the names of One Direction members and their usual outward appearance. Harry Styles aka Hardin Scott had nothing to do with Harry Styles besides his home country. He wasn't even into music and stuff, like he wanted to go into music business or something, indicating that he is indeed his on fictional character.

I don't know Harry personally (like most of us, even Anna) so saying "I wrote books ABOUT you" is weird. What she really wanted to happen is she wants to cast Harry on her story to play the part of Hardin. Let's make that clear.

I hope HS doesn't read it or watch the movies because it's so separate from him as a person. But to put it in context Hardin is based on a punk HS edit (w/ the neck tattoos and the piercings) and his attitude is based on H as "the bad boy" stereotype w/ the fanfiction trope of a the guy being an asshole but really sexy. She's fortunate to hit success when she did. She got billions of reads on Wattpad and that's what led to the book getting published and of course a movie getting made. I found a good bit of editing mistakes in the book that made me think it was rushed to be published. Good on her for success, though. May the rest of us be inspired to write and make something so successful.
