In an exclusive extended interview with Sky Sports News, Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah discusses the reasons behind Chris Wilder's exit. Sky Sports News offered Chris Wilder the opportunity to respond but he declined to comment.
Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah revealed Chris Wilder twice wanted to resign as manager and demanded a £4m severance fee to do so when his time at the club was coming to an end.
Wilder eventually left by mutual consent earlier this month with the club bottom of the Premier League and seemingly destined for relegation, with the two parties apparently having irreconcilable differences.

Wilder wanted Watkins, Cash, Swift, and Robinson (Fulham). The club didn't back him so he had to go with his 2nd or 3rd choices. If he was backed with his first choices the club wouldve spent less and got better players (judging by their form this season). Brewster is a bargain for £20m, thats not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things when you can see someone with a lot of talent at a young; he just needs to find that talent in games more.

I think this is what the whole thing is about Owner : Buy some proven solid player to keep us in the PL 30-33 year olds . Washed up guys with talent left just to hold us up Chris: no I'm buying future players that I will develope and create a foundation Owner : late in the season , I told u so Chris: I can't take the heat I want out That's what I read

Seems to me Chris was doing everything to get the sack and get he's 4 million. This owner is amazingly patient.

The prince is right about having other options while going for a player. The ‘big’ clubs have as many as 8 options to a single player the deal doesn’t work out, but those usually have huge scouting networks. The ones that do agent-based business or can’t afford such scouting networks have about 4 on each target. No wonder Brighton play such beautiful football and are definitely headed for big big things.

Yep he sounds like a a good decent chairman, I just think Chris probably got fed up maybe couldn’t see a way forward with ‘his players’ and when a manger has loyalty to his players it’s difficult to turn round to them and say I don’t want you anymore so maybe it felt like a massive rebuild so had enough but the chairman sounds really good very honest and really wanted Chris to stay so much respect to this chairman!

I have to agree with him... too many managers have got vested interests in certain signings 💯💯I wouldn’t trust his judgment in this January window either baring in mind they are already relegated..I would wait and rebuild for the championship with or without Chris wilder( preferably with him!) And where did ‘I resign, you pay me’ come into they workplace then??? Cmon these guys in football need to wake up!!

İ think Chris should go and intern at chelsea. Abramovic will teach him some lessons on why the club is always bigger than the coach, irregardless of your status or achievements

Sheffield Utd good club, this chairman has the best interest of the club, sometimes change can offend people but you have to move on and build and change can easily cause offend wish best to Sheffield Utd

Let's be clear, Wilder is a *magnificent* manager despite this season. Sheffield United were lucky to have him, and he will be a success whereever he goes next (if he chooses to manage again). But this guy seems like a top bloke and a top owner. Given that Wilder seems to be stubborn and refuses to diversify his transfer strategy, he had to go.
