The Colorado ZR2 got better treatment than the Silverado ZR2 in style and appearance in my opinion. The Silverado should have got 35's stock.

If you go to Chevy they have a great video of the trucks driving and you see all 5 models, WT, LT, Z71, Trail Boss, ZR2. The Vice President of Chevrolet speaks as well as engineers and they also cover all this. That’s why they can release this now. I really think Andrey was immersed and excited about this truck as he almost seemed either nervous or unable to contain his excitement. I liked the previous Colorado, but currently they are the ones to beat from Z71 level and up, definitely and I really like even the WT! Be proud owning any of them, but the ZR2 is the best looking compact to midsize truck,,,,, ever,,,, in my books. I’m one very critical SOB, so for me,, that says a lot. Well done Andrey and videographer!!! You are two very lucky people!!! I’m jealous,,,, hahaha.

Also how flat is the rear load floor in the second row? I saw a small hump but things always look slightly different on camera. Also are LEDs going to be available to option on any of the lower trims, or do you have to step up to the Z71 and ZR2 to get those? Glad to see the availability of rear air vents, adaptive cruise, and a sunroof.

Love the simple multi-position tailgate that allows sliding 4x8 sheets into the bed. But if you look @10:44 the front of the bed will not allow those sheets to slide all the way to the back of the cab wall. Just seems like things would be more secure if you could slide them all the way into the bed. If I ever go back to a truck again it most likely would be a midsize now that they are so big.
@Nick-Who

They need to bring back a bigger size bed option. I'm sorry, but 5'2" is just too short, I don't care if you drop the tailgate, it's one of my pet peeves with my half ton crew cab. I have a full 6.5 bed, but have had 8' beds in regular cab and extended cabs in the past, and boy do I miss a full size bed at times. Only option I have now is a 3/4 ton or bigger to get this configuration. I want the best of both worlds, love the crew cab, but don't want to spend the extra $$ for 1.5 ft. Not to mention less mpg for a 3/4 ton vs a half ton.

I like how it looks and that they didn’t go with the “fist into the wind” front end. One of the things that would keep me from considering this truck to replace my Toyota is the short bed length. Hopefully a longer bed will become available. It would be nice if they would make the tailgate cubby lockable and move the jack, jack handle and anything else that is usually stored under the seats to the tailgate cubby. I’d put my ball hitch and tie downs in there also and then I’d have a lot more under seat storage that is out of sight. I also wish that they hadn’t dropped the diesel option.
@LanguagesWithAndrew
@LanguagesWithAndrew 2 года назад
Completely agreed! The manufacturers' attitude to this is 180° backasswards: people who want the hardcore offroad version are some of the least likely to want extra backseat space (or even a backseat at all). If I buy a ZR2, that's a weekend toy that I might occasionally use for regular pick-up stuff (getting cement/mulch/wood/whatever from Home Depot, etc.), it's *not* something I'm going to buy if I need a truck that can comfortably fit my whole family of 3 or 5 or whatever I would've spawned - if this is you, you buy a half-ton with four doors, you don't buy a mid-size truck with the super-duper offroad package. Friends? My friends are driving their own vehicles to whatever weekend warrior crap we're off to do in such vehicles. In something like a ZR2, I want a regular cab with a bit of storage space behind the front seat, NO REAR SEATS, and the most bed space possible.
@zachjacobs3337
@zachjacobs3337 2 года назад
@@LanguagesWithAndrew You are the minority. These are used as daily drivers much more than pure off road machines. And if they are used off road, it is much more overlanding/camping than crawling/desert running, and overlanding/camping often requires having a good amount of interior volume. The manufacturers know their audiences and what will make them the most money.
@DragonKnightX12
@DragonKnightX12 2 года назад
@@LanguagesWithAndrew I disagree. Unless you're just loaded with money, a $40K truck isn't gonna be just a weekend toy. It's going to be the everything vehicle, and most hardcore off-roaders are probably gonna want the extra interior space. Likely going on weekend-week long trips to various places and trails that could days to complete. Most people just wanting a toy for a Saturday mud bogging are just gonna by a beater. Or just buy something else like a buggy or dirt bike. I feel like most people that would want a single cab and a long bed are people that actually use their truck purely as a work vehicle.

2nd gen Tacoma owner here (with TRD Supercharger). This looks to be a great pickup. Not sold on the turbo inline-4 move (would have liked to see the baby Duramax survive), but the power and torque numbers can't be argued for normal use. Outboard shocks are a welcome move, but disappointed GM insists on keeping leaf springs when the competitors are all coils and links now. Interior looks like a great upgrade. Only other desire is manual gear select, either by console or paddles. The way it is set up, the driver will just have to trust the tow/haul mode in hilly driving. A sport mode for enthusiastic backroad driving would be nice, but sometimes tow/haul can do that ok. Maybe Baja mode will do as long as it doesn't lock the diffs up.

By looping the cables over the latch posts on the sides of the bed near the taillights. That also end up at the same level as the wheel wells, that allow a couple 2x4’s to lay across the bed, sitting in molded indents so you can load 4x8 sheets, nice and flat. I love the redesigned exterior and interior. But dropping the CC LB , higher fuel efficiency diesel engine, and not using the 10spd completely turn me off of this truck. This new one is heavier than before and there is no way the turbo 2.7 will match or even get in the ballpark of the diesel's fuel efficiency. And making us pay extra for the mid-tier models to get more horsepower and torque (but not that max) is kind of wack. Sticking with my 16' duramax Canyon. Maybe 4th gen will get the 3.0 i6 duramax.

That diesel didn't get that great of mileage. The 3.0 in a bigger and heavier half ton gets plenty better mpg. The 2.8 also has a terrible torque curve. Peak torque at 2000 rpms with little to nothing before then and drops off very quickly. This 2.7 will run circles around it and get close to the same mileage.
@Encourageable
@Encourageable 2 года назад
@@prestondeters5093 I get 39.3 MPG on the highway, 27 MPG in the city. Guaranteed that 2.7 won’t come close to that. And the torque curve of the diesel is right in the driving speed - the torque isn’t needed anywhere else. The 2.7 will probably be a decent engine but for towing it won’t - it will be screaming near redline - diesels always tow better. Again, not slamming the redesign, I like it, but the 2.8 is a beast for towing in this little truck.
@prestondeters5093

Great looking truck! But I'll stick to my 2022 Frontier Pro 4X in army green metallic. I know the ZR2 and Pro 4X aren't fully comparable in off-road capability, but in my eyes the more understated redesign of the Nissan looks better. Not to mention that with nearly 20000km there have been no serious issues and I can get the fuel consumption of the NA 3.8L V6 below 10L/100km easily. Two points: 1) the 2.7T in the 2WD Silverado is rated at 20 C/23 H/21 combined MPG by the EPA. That's with a heavier truck overall. And TFL has done mileage tests with the 2.7 Silverado, including getting 20 mpg climbing a Colorado mountain and 24.2 mpg highway (in a comparison with a Ram). 2) if a 6'3" Andrey can fit in the back seat reasonably (and not feel like he's sitting too upright), then the back will likely do fine with car seats.
