Fantastic as always brother!!! I’ve been loving Nordhavn’s for years! Them and Bering helped me explore the world of civilian yachting. The freedom is awe inspiring
Agreed. If it was owner operated and you wished to maintain it to the same standards, the owners would be exhausted each night after an 8 hr day, every day
To me...Nordhavn isnt just a Yacht. Its more like a fine instrument like a Bosendorfer or Steinway and Sons Concert Grand Piano. This is the Concert Yacht of the Seas.
While I do love the design of Nordhavn's, for anything over 60 feet in length I'd prefer a steel/aluminum hull like a Bering. Even if it costs a (relatively) few dollars more.
John, as I have said before, if I could ever afford a yacht that would be the perfect one. Especially with it being a Nordhavn, unmistakably the best build and quality for a trawler / explorer type yacht. It would be my choice unless Lone Ranger ever went back up for sale. As I've told you before I worked on the refit in Miami when Peter Luis bought it back in the 90s and had the multimillion-dollar refit.
It really depends on yachts systems I personally would feel comfortable soloing a nord 96, with my experience With hydraulic thrusters and station keeping it makes docking very easy . Secondly you plan Set your fenders and have lines available prior to docking With the camera system and extra control stations its very doable if you have the experience. Ive soloed myself a 128ft coastal tug ,
There is family owned and operated boats under 200 gross tons. Its not like its just run by 2 people, but family and friends. right from Nordhavn's own site, "For the enthusiast who is seeking megayacht-like style and features in a boat that is still able to be managed with no - or minimal - crew, the Nordhavn 96 is the ideal solution."
Better mileage than that as viva Rae died in the middle of the ocean in Australia. Uses no fuel drifting along in the ocean. Passengers and crew needed to be rescued
That incident had nothing to do with fuel. They were towing their tender when the tow rope became entangled in the props of Viva Rae as they were pulling it closer to Viva. They were unable to conduct attempts to remove the line due to rough sea conditions and had to be rescued. They returned to the boat when the weather settled and recovered her just fine. The tender was even recovered. They were not in the middle of the ocean when this happened. They were 158 nautical miles east of Merauke, West Papua Indonesia on their way to Australia. If you want to tell a story at least tell it right and not just make stuff up. A quick Google search is all it takes.
@@TChalla007 Nordhavn builds out all of their models(up to the 120') made from fiberglass. They are going to go steel for anything they build beyond that but all of their models so far are all glass.
There is a ton of maintenance, line handling in tricky situations.... no, it can't be done practically speaking. I'm a Master and also former engineer. That is salesman rubbish.
@@janezkovac6692 maybe it has a covid19 sanitation system. . . . . . . . .ha hahahhaahhhhhhh but seriously out-fitting maybe and then the cvd19 effects in the markets period seem to have everything on the top-top-end right! oK one last snappy comment → it could be egg storage cost /;^) AlwaysForward~Godspeed p.s. that was a very small wheel in the pilot house imo
@@cameltube-vk7el bout wheel.....it s comercial type much better.like the one on big tanker or container ships. You just adjust degrees for rudder no need for much rotation....
