Good review. Would be interesting to see the PS5 Vs. PS4S if not already in the works? Also - how’s that holy trinity RE71RS, A052 and Cup2 Connect test going? Let’s see the track kings
hi mate, do you know which is the best street tyre for traction in 25-30Celsius? I have an FWD daily with around 260-270hp.... :/ :D and with the pirelli p zero its absolutely junk.... :S if i want a traction it needs some hardcore burnout ...but its deadly for the wearing, and i dont want to foolin with burnouts just because for traction :S
Hi, I wanna buy tyres for my crossover and have three options: Nexen nfera Supreme(N5000 Platinum) ($175), Nankang SP-9 Cross-Sport ($115), and Giti Sport S2 Suv ($125). I can’t decide which one should I go with, as comfort and smooth driving is the number one priority for me.
@@tyrereviews so I love your videos just wanted to say I just bought Bridgestone potenza re980+ and can’t believe the difference from grand touring tires from EP422. On a Chrysler 200 2015.
I went from Dunlop Sport Maxx rt2 225/45/17 to the new Goodyear Eagle F1 Assymetric 6 two weeks ago and this tire is fenomenal in the wet and even better in the dry, so well balanced, loads of grip in the corners and great feedback from the road! EDIT: 7 months later after summer season ended, my conclusion is that this tire is amazing, all around very good performer, very linear and predictable slippage in the corners and performance in the wet is ridiculous! 10/10 would reccommend to anyone!
i've had them too in 245/40/18, and just as you, was very impressed with them. but only for about 6 months or so, afterwards they feel a hell of a lot less grippy in dry, still good in wet, but does lose its qualities very quickly. fwd 270hp/400nm by the way.
Cheaper by a lot! Although I'm looking at older models, the Goodyear's are $120 a piece! Cheaper than the Michelins in my size. Mainly because they're being clearanced. But still, if you could have the Goodyear F1s for almost $500 a set cheaper than the Michelin sports, that's a no-brainer.
As other comments have said and I have before, the level of effort, production quality, and outright professionalism in these tests is second to none. The honest opinions are invaluable and its rare to find these days. I've always thought the ps4 was great but as you have always said, it's numb which is sad to hear the 5 is the same. It's a shame you don't get more exposure for the effort put in, you deserve so much better
I'd have to agree the PS4 is quite a numb feeling tyre - but it makes up for it in other areas, particularly in the wet - and I live in a very wet climate - so for me it's an excellent road tyre - and now the PS5 has been released, the PS4 is great value here as they run out stock. Yokohama burnt me a number of years ago when I bought a set after they had transferred production from Japan to Malaysia, and the quality tanked to the levels of budget tyre brands - at least for the set I bought. I guess they have sorted that out now, or perhaps Europe get tyres from another manufacturing location.
@@Beer_Dad1975 It's the best performing wet tyre I've driven, and for that alone it's arguably the best road tyre although haven't had a chance at the ps5 yet. I just wish they weren't so numb to feel, although I have cup 2s on my weekender so it probs worsens the effect
@@lepermessiyah5823 PS4S's fix the problem of numbness - at least to my feel - of course they are quite a step up in price - they haven't been available in 245/40 R18's until recently here, so this is my first set. I've never tried the Cup 2 but I imagine it's a totally different level, and no doubt exaggerated further by the type of car you'd fit such a tyre to.
@@Beer_Dad1975 yeah 4s sizes are limited and availability, especially in Australia, is slim. And yes, going from a daily runaround to the weekender is definitely a step up lol
This is the one channel that could get away with making longer videos! I love these videos and you are actually making tire reviews more interesting than car reviews on RU-vid!
The level of detail and commitment to objective testing is really appreciated, great work. Disappointed they haven't sharpened the PS5 as that was my main complaint going from the PS3 to the PS4, but I felt it was probably the better tyre all round. If that's the sacrifice they've made to allow it to be the fantastic all rounder it is, then I'll take it. Love being able to drive in the wet like it's dry!
I got no problems with dual winners... different tires for different needs. The strength of your reviews has never been just the rankings, but the process and evaluation of each entry. Helps the buyer understand the tires and what they're buying into. Boy, did the Goodyear come ever so close to owning the title solely, had it not been the poor hydroplaning performance. I was this close to putting it on the shipping list for the next set on my E46 coupé, only that I live in Vancouver, Canada, where the spring/fall sessions are WET, WET, WET. Otherwise, its sporty driving focus fits the car's character to a tee. Michelin has always been about balance in all traits, while not necessarily acing each. Call it a broad-focus approach that gives the users the biggest envelope in various conditions (still loving my AS3s). Kudos to another splendid test video. These take tons of work. 💯
Its nice to find a review which tells exaclty how a tire performs, also nice finding someone finally commenting the negatives of the Michelin PS. I was skeptical, now I am sure about the Yokohamas. Thank you very much for this review, very on point, no bullshit, only real feelings and driving data. Thanks!
I had the Continentals on my sportscar and they always went a one direction. Jumped to Good Year and the response, the feeling , the straight running is so much better. They are dancing and singing in the curves at 160 kph.... I love them !!!
Thanks for testing the Yokohama Advan Sport V105, I have been running this tyre for years and absolutely love it on track days. Glad to see it is still at the top for dry handling and great to know the PS5 is not my tyre. The Continental looks like a great succesor to my V105's though!
I have recently fitted Michelin Pilot Sport 5's to my Golf7 R and find your conclusions pretty bang on to be fair. They are SO predictable in the wet and in the dry and very supple in terms of ride quality but they are not for the precision driver or track days in that they are a little numb and lacking in feel for competitive drivers, but as a road tire they are superb and suit me to a tee, as I like to make swift but relaxed and ultimately very safe progress on the country roads where I live which are too often wet and greasy. I would fit them again without question as they take so much stress out of my daily commute. Oh, and they hold tire dressing better than my old PS4's by a big big margin due to their sidewall design.
Thank you for that feedback. May i ask something, as i'm interested in fitting PS5 too (not for track, just commuting, highway and some spirited driving). You said they're SO predictable ? I would assume in a good way, right ? (grippy, confident etc..) Also, would you say the road noise is acceptable for highway driving ?
@@JasonTsimplis Noisy in old roads. Quiet in new asphalt. Positively predictible, lots of grip even in violent cornering where other tires lose shape. Their true beauty is beyond 140kmh
Love the amount of detail in these tests, I actually just not long put Assymetric 5s on my Spec C after watching your older comparison video, it has totally transformed the car! Used to light the rears up in 3rd on corner exit in wet, now it won't even light up 1st gear! So cheers for that 👌
have not bought a set of tyres for any of my previous 2 cars without binge watching Tyre reviews! SportContact 6 and 7 and now a set of Hankooks , all purchased as a result of these videos!
I've had the Turanza T005's and I never disliked a tyre that much. They felt like driving on pillows. They are indeed very soft and made driving in a straight line a wobbly experience. You could see the car moving over the tyres when just pushing a bit against the side of the car standing next to it. Maybe they were a total mismatch for my car and/or my taste of driving but I changed them after one year driving for GoodYears Asymm 5's and it just felt like driving a new car. The Asymm 6 tyres will certainly get my attention when my current asymm 5's are worn. Great video again, thanks!
An idea for a future video: Influence of load ratings: the same tyre on cars of a different weight, with 2-3 different load rated tyres. So: how will, e.g., a tyre that‘s good on an optioned out AWD Golf fair on a Mazda Miata or even a Caterham, and the other way around.
That would be a great review! A few weeks ago when the GY AS6 was tested the first time, I was a bit concerned about its somewhat lower "aquaplaning resistance". The MX-5 is very 'sensitive' in rainy and cold weather in general.
The issue is that it's not linear between brands, sometimes it would be literally the same tyre with a different sidewall, but I do want to make a video on it
@@tyrereviews That would be awesome. I’m always hesitant to choose tyres that were tested good on a Golf or BMW for my Miata, because the much lower weight might change which tyre actually works well, and it would be great to have at least a rough idea how much that really affects it.
Just got my set of PS5 245/35/zr20 for my 3 performance today, and it was excellent in wet gripping, very comfy ride, stable and lots of grip in corners!
The Yokohama comes standard on my MX-5 (if I had 16" wheels, Mazda's preferred size for this car), I'm so happy you tested it. In that car, it's a lot of fun. Would be cool if you will test the V107 you mentioned. You can't even buy the V105 in the US anymore [on tirerack] in small sizes.
The very best channel and website for tyre tests and reviews. User reviews are of immense value, which means I'm happy to leave reviews myself. Thank you Jonathan! Nick
Thank you so much for the things you do! The absolute best tests on the market! So sad that we didn't get the FK520 since i just bought those :-) hope we'll see those in the near future! Would be nice to see the Advant sport V107, Potenza Sport and the FK520's !
@@henriquef1639 i don't do any track attacks, but by far it's the most comfortable tyre i've ever had. I have the 235/45/18 ones, the tread depth is 7,5mm and i only drove around 100km. Before that i had the Vredestein Ultrac Vorti, they were less comfortable but definetly more sharper than the FK520's.
@@kooskoos1814 luckily for me my PowerProof tires were dead and the FK520 just came out. They are even manufactured on 02-22 :D Before buying the PowerProof Nokian tires i was considering the Fk510, but the model seemed a bit outdated, so i bought the recently released PowerProof. Also, the Fk520's rim protection is just insane. Probably the best one on the market. Wanted to write a review on tyresreview but i think it's a bit early
I have just replaced 2 x old Yokahama advan db V551 for 2 x PS5. The advan were bad on bumps and potholes. I already have PS4 on other 2 tyres. The difference between the advan and the PS4 and PS5 is amazing. The PS4 and PS5 are way better on bumps. Just changing the 2 tyres to PS5 has meant that the car is more fuel efficient and as it is better over bumps you can put an extra 1or 2 PSI in the tyres and still ride good. The PS4 & PS5 are also better on corners and have less body roll. I will be buying the PS5 from now on.
It still has very poor rim protection compared to Michelin or Goodyear. Running Continentals (or Hankooks) can become quite costly. Don't ask me how I know . . . .
Thanks for the example of tire manufacturers not always sending the tires you'd hoped for. Would've loved to see the Advan Apex and Sportcontact 7 in this test
Would love to see tests of tyres where the manufacturer has different models/types in the same size... so for Michelin do a comparisson test on track for say the CrossClimate2, the latest Primacy and the PS5. Most major brands have an all season, a touring and a sport tyre in this size and many drivers will be brand loyal.
What a missed opportunity to have the best tire comparison in the most popular 17 inch dimension by including the Bridgestone Potenza Sport, Yokohama Advan V107 and the new Falken FK520. It would have been a real benchmark. I hope for a future update. Great work nevertheless as always.
@@tyrereviews Yokohama come out this month, Falken FK520 is being sold already in 225/45/17. Bridgestone did disappoint with their choice even though their Potenza Sport is impressive In this dimension, I just fitted it a week ago.
if you get the goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 6, please return them if you see made in SLOVENIA, because I bought a set of 4 brand new and 2 of them are bumpy and make the car vibrate at high speed, did the wheels balancing 3 times and finally a guy showed me the tires being wobbly when rotated. Ask the shop to give you tires made in Germany!
Given the great results of the Bridgestone Turanza, I would love to see a comparison between the Turanza T005, the Potenza S001 and the Potenza Sport. This way we could see the differences between those types of tyres. Great video!
.... and include the S-005. So far I'm under the impression the S-005 is a milder (OE) version of the Potenza Sport. In such a comparison I'd expect the outdated S-001 to place last.
Fantastic detail review of this UHP tyre test. It’s quite surreal that the tyres at the top of the table are very close, just minor differences. Great ‘win’ for the GoodYear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6. I have the 5 and really like it’s performance on my mk7.5 GTi.
I'm surprised that the Michelin 5 was still so soft.. though I feel like they are trying to push more performance focused customers to the 4S or Cup 2 now. But maybe sales of their performance tires went up when they got softer, as I feel a lot of people I think like to say they want sporty, but they mostly notice ride quality..
If they wear at a rate similar to PS4, it's best avoided. That's what nobody tells you, they wear quickly and as soon as there is any wear it instantly loses all of its performance. I wonder if that has changed at all with the PS5..
It's not surprising honestly, Michelin has been doing it since the Pilot Sport / Pilot Exalto. Now they're called the Pilot Sport S / Pilot Sport, but one is more about sports cars and the other about luxury sedans. The promotional video for the Pilot Sport 5 uses an Audi A5 Sportback and the main argument is low wear with high level of wet grip.
@@dufonrafal yeah, I think this is like how even SUVs now have an "M" or "AMG". People want the performance name, but don't actually want any of the performance compromises
well as far i know the "PS5S" will be out next year this isnt the "sporty" tire at all more like universal one i would say... so i will grab the PS4S this year-ofc sportcup2 is another lvl... thinking about the new contis sportcontact 7 they rlly performed pretty good in test but still i got an i30n and the forums about what to wear instead of the Pzeros are like 100% ppl that changed to PS4S = gr8 improvement for the car... and the michelin last longer than the competitors... still u prolly gonan change them like every or every2 year so prolly doesnt matter at all :D
I've not much experience with high quality tires. After watching this test, i've bought the goodyear and it is an outstanding tire. The best i've ever had. It has also an incredible amount of grip in the wet. I couldn't believe that this is even possible.
Very Good question 👍 Direct comparison would be great I‘d expect not much difference inbetween both as Asym6 is more sporty as PS4/PS5 and also PS4S is more sporty as PS4/5
Really pleased to hear that you do blind tests. I hope that the people who are changing the tyres are also aware of giving anything away with facial expressions, a big grin when they fit the tyres they expect to be the best can easily influence your own impressions of the tyre. Your adherence to the scientific method and providing results we can rely on, is awesome! Thank you!
Excellent review, thank you for helping me choose the tyres for my Mustang GT. Hankook it is, since Mustang is my daily driver and I value the wet braking performance quite a lot.
Great review as always. Just one gripe - why are these called 'ultra high performance tyres' these days? The PS3 was just a plain old 'high performance' tyre not so long ago. I think people would accept these were not aimed at 'ultra' performance, so why not just call them high performance tyres. This would then do away with the need to ever say 'ultra ultra high performance' ever again when reviewing Cup 2s etc......and nobody could be unhappy about that 😁 Thanks!
Awesome reviews and level of detail. Never underestimate the importance of the onl thing which keeps you in contact with the road. Gonna fit these Michelin Pilot Sport 5s to my Tuscan S now based on this.
Thank you Jonathan for another detailed review 🙏🏻 I have been waiting for this test to help me decide which tyres to buy. And also thank you for including Yokohama V105 in this test as it is my old summer tyre I need to replace 🙏🏻 (good benchmark for me) You always give planty of information that other test simply do not provide. As usual this test was very helpful for making a final decision prior purchase. Keep up the good work ✌🏻
I drive on S1 Evo3 (construction from 2018) and I'm so happy to see it on the 3rd place, after both tires that debuted in 2022. It really has a great performance on the wet road.
Got the Michelin PS5 for my Alfa GT in this dimension: first impressions > I like the balance of comfort and grip. But the looks, you're totally right! I'll write up a review on the website once I drive them a bit more ;) Stellar work, cheers!
But how is the road noise ? Good comfort with high road noise just don't add up. I'm sceptical about PS5 just because of the road noise, everything else about them looks fantastic.
@@JasonTsimplis No complaints about the noise. By specs it's higher, but in real life the frequency makes it so that it's not noticeable as much. I'm really liking the comfort in daily driving. Great tyre overall, tons of grip and also comfy + the looks which really make the car look better overall with a nice set of wheels. I absolutely recommend them, especially for GT cars.
@@djlosmi That's so good to hear. I was wondering about the frequency, as i've heard many people talking about different frequencies being intrusive while some other not at all, but i couldn't find much info. Thank you, your feedback pretty much clarified exactly what i was concerned about. I'll get the PS5 :)
@@JasonTsimplis I'm glad I helped. You can never go wrong Michelin lol :D In my eyes GY AS6 was too harsh for daily driving by the specs so I chose the more comfy choice - and I'm so glad I did!
this IS "the TEST". I would have liked to see the new vredestein ultrac in the test too It has very good reports, and i dont know if it plays in the same league of this uhp tyres, but the test is increíble. very good job mr Jonathan
I went with premium contact 6 on my octavia vrs mk3 estate (tuned to 307bhp) from the bridgestone potenzas (i hated them) i love them so far, so grippy in the dry and wet, not the best over our UK bumps and potholes but overall highly recommended, especially at £86 per tyre (225/40 r18) on an offer i cant complain at all with them. Love these videos, keep it up
I've had PC6 on my Mondeo Titanium X Sport 2.5T for a few years. Just swapped out to PS5s all round and agree the PC6 is fairly grippy, but lacks comfort on UK roads. Early days yet but the PS5 seem to be better for comfort already and also very grippy so far (not done anything too crazy yet). I do note a little lack of responsiveness but not precision vs. the PC6. In the UK where I'm actually more likely to use the car in wet weather (when walking, cycling or similar won't be as fun), I think I'll grow to appreciate the Michelins. Also I'm crossing my fingers for better wear and though it's hard to tell the road noise being a smidge lower should make for more pleasant motorway stints. Based on this the AS6 would have been an interesting option but with the current Michelin Spring 2022 offer I'll get £50 cashback making my fully fitted price of the PS5 lower than the shipped price of the AS6 (and noone seems to have stock of those for fitting near me / available to me - I can only find one place to order them online and no fitting option). So will I be happy moving from the Conti to the Michelin? Time will tell. I hope so. I don't have a performance hot hatch, but a car that is bigger that just happens to be able to hit 150mph. I hope the understeer isn't an issue. Also the PS5s do look pretty damn good.
I’ve been driving 245/45R18 GoodYear Asymmetric 6 on Audi A6 Avant for a couple of weeks now. Great handling, both in wet and dry. Grippy AND comfy. Love them!
After getting used to my M135 with RE71RS, I tried a M340 with T005. OMG the handling felt night and day 😂 Looks like the new PS5 still keeps the character of Michelin, which isn't my type..
I bought the Michelin PS5 a month ago and fitted with BMW 320d(G20),I’m pretty satisfying with these tires. Its have Excellent grip both wet and dry. And most importantly, good side wall design as you mentioned.
I have Conti PremiumContact 6 on my 2005 Renault Scenic 205/55 R16. They have so much grip that I have more fear of rolling than sliding haha, suspension ultra soft with high center of gravity with super sticky tires. I must say that I feel super comfortable and safe going faster than I should on turns in this potato car, amazing tires and for my next car I will put Cont SportContact 7 for sure.
SUPERB test Jonathan !!! Love it !! It's a shame that Pirelli didn't give you a set of tires for this test. Keep it up man !!! Greetings from Barcelona :)
Another great review! Not sure how the Michelin and Goodyear ended up being tied for 1st here though. The Goodyear basically beat the Michelin in almost every test - dry handling, wet handling, noise, and rolling resistance. Slightly less comfortable and prettier, but not sure how that makes it tied for 1st?
Michelin won in wet handling essentially as the GY aquaplaned a lot more than the Michelin? This was talked about in the video. Go back and listen again maybe. Times aren't everything although they were pretty mucn identical in the test. Confidence in your tyre and staying on the road count too - most normal drivers don't have a track to practice on and would lose it in curved aquaplaning. Michelin stopped better in the wet too - normal wet braking test and straight aquaplaning where the GY was garbage. And all this despite the Michelin being more comfortable.
@@tyrereviews i can't wait. I chose these goodyears for the summer because southern Europe has quite curvy roads w/ fast speed limits, but i do drive a bit older car so i wanted something that is silent, safe, tad bit sporty and lasts for a long time. Based on comments of asymmetric 5 i bet these will last for quite some time. Also price was a big factor. 2x 245/40/17 was 269€ and 225/45/17 was 178€. With home delivery. So quite doable for a quality tire.
Yet another awesome tyre review video Jonathan! Thanks! I presume these tyres were all tested when they were new and with full 100% thread depths? If so, it would be great if you could somehow re-test all of these some time down the road when they have worn down quite a bit. Maybe at thread depths of 80% and 50-60% etc? That's probably quite a bit of work, but it would be really interesting to see how they compare at different stages of the life of the tyre and whether they still can maintain their characteristics over time. I am really interested in how consistent these tyres will be :) Thanks again!
I would LOVE to do that sort of test, however the current price for FAIR wear testing is around 1 euro per set per KM. You'd need to do around 15,000km. That's 135,000 euros to do worn testing properly...
@@tyrereviews You could shorten that procedure with the same method as the Renault 5 Cup drivers did in the old days: Shave the tyres - there are machines that can do that for you. Probably they are also hidden in some small barns near the Michelin and Goodyear test tracks. 😁
once again, thank you for all the effort you put in. I was hoping the PS5 would be a bit better on subjective handling, but it seems not. Goodyear for me (once I've destroyed my current set!)
@@tyrereviews The "ST" version for South East Asia of the Pilot Sport 4 seems to be even worse! The floatiness of the SE Asian version was just ridiculous compared to an Eagle F1 or Potenza IMO.
Thank you for including Yokohama! (I bothered you about it on another of your videos). I have been a Yokohama fan for years. Have had Advan Fleva V701 and Advan Apex V601. Both brilliant (Fleva is better in the rain). Never tried the V105. Glad to know it is a great option too. 🙏
Feeling so smug! At your previous recommendation I put the Conti Premium Contact 6 on my BMW E39 and I’m loving it’s feel and great turn in, especially since I fitted Bilstein’s excellent B12 suspension kit. @@pigeonpoo1823 I haven’t noticed them being any worse than other summer UHP tyre, they are always progressive when they do slide, which with a big rear drive saloon is welcome. They can maybe understeer a little more when colder, but again that’s to be expected
The Pilot Sport 5 launched about a month too late for me. I just bought another set of Pilot Sport 4 for my Mondeo. Although it's not a sports car, I truly appreciate the comfortable ride that I get from the Michelin. I wanted a more comfort oriented tyre, primarily for touring rather than performance driving, but also one which excels in the wet. For me, that's the Michelin. The Pilot Sport 4 is by far the best tyre I've driven on.
I would love to see an aging comparison of tyres. So subjecting them to as many heat cycles as they would be subjected to during their 40.000km life and shaving them down. Then doing the usual dry and especially wet tests and seeing how much they degraded. I suspect that some brands will degrade a lot more than others. I have the segment of continental premium contact and eco contact in mind for this test.
Yeh - we definitely need a test that shows how tyres perform after a certain fixed mileage or wear amount. Manufacturers can design tyres just so they do well for 30 mins in these tests otherwise
@@tyrereviews understandable. Maybe a manufacturer is willing to cooperate? Seems like you have some very solid connections. I expect they would have thermal test chambers for the cycles and a machine to shave down the tire? Thanks for your answer!
@@emmamitchell1582 there are machines to shave the tyres, but from all the data i've seen you only really get correlation in wet braking compared to actual worn tyres, the rest is way off. If you can invent a machine to wear tyres realistically you'll be very rich

I only wish they'd improved on aquaplaning, but once tyres have worn down a few mm's the results could be totally different anyhow. Interesting that Jonathan liked the Golf 7 more than the 8 as I prefer the mk8. I haven't driven either on track but the mk8 seems to be lighter on it's feet and has less understeer overall? Great tire test, used this channel to pick my last set of tires and wasn't disappointed.
As long as the Goodyear stays cheaper than the Michelin and Continental that's the one ill keep buying. They make my 350z handle better than it should!
Don't feel quite so bad now you've mentioned sidewall looks as something people think about (I knew I was not the only one) when assessing tyres! But that said, I'll be sticking with the Goodyears, was a dye in the wool Michelin fan boy for many years until a twist in fate when my tyre guy talked me into my first set of Asymmetric 3's (a canceled order, so he had a set in stock in my size he would do me a deal on). Now a few years down the road, with a couple of sets of the 3's and a set of 5's under my belt, the new 6's will be my next new boots, I may only be fitting them to a very humble mondeo estate (and an oil burner at that), but I've yet to find a situation where they don't excel, and they're £25 a corner cheaper than the big "M", that was a free tank of fuel, until 2022 hit!!
@Tyre Reviews I will start sending them an email once a week with pict of asym6 and ps5 next ot each other to remind them how ugly it is and how beautiful sidewall can look .

Another great review Jonathan. Especially interesting for me as about to change the 225/40R18 Turanza T005s on my M135i (F40) for something more sporty. I had been debating between PS4 OEs and PS5s, but finally went for PZ4OEs after watching a previous UHP summer tyre review of yours before this review came out, on the assumption the PS5s would be an evolution of the PS4s and not be as sporty as the PZ4s, which will be fitted tomorrow, so can't wait to see how they perform. PS Can't believe the mpg I could get from the T005s if I took it easy. Sure I will lose that with the PZ4s.
@@tyrereviews PZ4 OE's handling is great in the dry. No wet weather yet, so no chance to try them. As expected, fuel consumption not as good as the T005s but not too bad, and seem pretty quiet. Sidewalls on the PZ4s actually look quite cool. ☺️
The problem with the Eagle F1 is they only have 5.5mm of usable tyre. So you will definitely be changing them more often. The Semperit for example has over 25% more rubber to work with. As you note. The cheaper tyres get better and better every year, but they are also not that cheap any longer. The worst tyre is £70 and the best £80.
Spot on. I recently bought myself a set of Falken Azenis Fk520, just to answer myself a question: How much better are the premium tires vs the chinese ones? I was considering buying a set of Sailun Atrezzo ZSR (1 tyre for 69 euros) Vs The Falken Azenis FK520 (1 tyre for 125 euros - still cheap imo) The difference is kinda noticeable. A set of not so bad chinese tires for 280 euros vs 500 for the Falken ones. I hope the 2x difference will be noticeable
I know Michelin isn’t the best on dry handling. I feel the same too. I drive PS4 SUV’s for 57000 kilometers. I’m really impressed its long lasting performance. It still has good grip on dry and wet surfaces. I pushed it hard in different type of roads. It still gives good grip especially on wet surfaces. Tread depth is about 5,5mm after 57000 kilometers. If i can’t see a huge decrease on the grip, i will drive it up to 75000kilometers. I think Michelins Evergrip technology works better than i expected. Thank you for that excellent test. Both Michelin and Goodyear are always the best for me.
hello! i follow all of your tests and you do a tremendous job for all of us! I have one question, can you please tell me about the cabin noise of the tyres or maybe you can implement this test in your further reviews? I'm looking forward to buy a new pair of tyres, I'm more interested in comfort and quieteness but i also like some spirited driving sometines. I'm into asymetric 6, pilot sport 5 and turanza t005. I see that turanza is the most confortable of the 3, but how about the in cabin noise? Which of the 3 do you think is the quietest inside on the golf? Thank you and very good job!!
Thank you for the unique content you bring on this channel. How much do you think the 91V version of the Continental PC6 would have been different in terms of comfort? I’m assuming the 94Y XL rating, which is the top end in terms of sidewall stiffness, should not cope particularly well with the comfort and noise rates.
Thank you for all of your testing and reports. I bought a 2004 Acura TL, single owner, Florida car (NO rust), with only 89K miles on it, and treated myself to a set of Michelin Pilot Sport AS 4's and am VERY happy up here in Vermont with them. Less than a thousand miles on them so far but I put them through a 3-hour drive where there were points with black ice, then mostly normal light snow, ice and slush and I felt absolutely secure throughout the entire drive. THANK YOU!! PS: I was previously a Nokian fan, but these seem to be at least as good and much quieter.
