Four-star General Oleksandr Syrskyi has commanded the armed forces in Ukraine since February. Before that, he led his country's ground forces as Russia began its invasion in early 2022. Syrskyi led the initial battle for Kyiv and pushed Moscow's forces out of the capital. Since Syrskyi took command, Ukrainian troops mounted a surprise assault on the Russian region of Kursk. Currently Ukrainians are preoccupied with the key city of Pokrovsk, now in imminent danger of falling to the Russians. Christiane sat down with the General in Ukraine for his first on-camera interview.
