FACT: If you exclude the gutter part, what you're seeing here is what's called 'rotation' in racing. Instead of taking a geometric line around a slow corner, if you take a squared/sharp line towards a later apex, you can have a much better corner exit while sacrifing the minimum cornering speed. This's good if there's a long straight after the corner(Tilke designed F1 tracks for example). To achieve maximum benefit when using this line, drivers 'rotate' their car before reaching the apex by letting the tyre slip with precision, letting you apply throttle earlier than you'd with a geometric line. Vegetable Studio was rotating that NSX before using the gutter on the exit.
It has nothing to do with the trajectory; late-apexing or anything. It's just used to increase rear grip since when you go on the gas the rear will slip towards the outside, but the inner tyre will be blocked by the gutter and make it harder for the rear axle to slip (oversteer), thus resulting in better acceleration
@@miner4236 yes but the movement of the tyre when you get in and out of the gutter will also cause the tyre to slip, so in the end the amount of time you gain from doing this is zero versus the same road with no gutter. The time you earn is because you're using more road, not because of the gutter. I think there's only one or two corners on akina where it's actually worth doing this and that is in the longest corners, short corners like these make you lose time because you spend more time trying to match the wheel spin with your speed to prevent slip when you go in and out than accelerating inside the gutter. Does that make sense?
This is so good! Plus, such a glorious-sounding V6! That subtle camera shakes perfectly accentuates the temperamental aura from the revs of that engine and whenever the car's coming out of the corner or charging into it, absolutely sublime video!!
from what i've found, its best to enter the gutter right before the apex of akinas hairpins. by doing so you achive maximum speed on the whole run, that gives great cornering ability, as well as fast exit. only if gutters actually work of course.
You do some of the best editing in combination with great driving. You could totally write your own Initial D inspired episode! From car meet/battle start to epilogue. If you get the time and motivation of course!
I think I sort of get the function of this gutter run... If I'm not mistaken, it's for maximum corner exit speed and prevent from oversteer on corner exit.
both prevent understeer and increase speed, but the conditions for this exit oriented version is that youre doing a very late apex so the gutter run would last for only less than 90 degrees. this boosts the accel from the straighter exit even more. for entry version, you can do it as long as theres a gutter, it can last for like 300 degrees who knows. other than faster corner entry, the entry version provides better corner speed during the corner for the same reason. but for corner recovery this exit version is superior
You see the new MF Ghost trailer? Nearly every complaint from Trailer 1 was fixed. The vehicle physics are better, they now have their official badges [except the Lambo and Ferrari] and real-world sounds [I keep replaying the trailer for the Audi R8], and the eurobeat is back. Heard the source material is not nearly as good as Initial D, but I'm still excited for the anime.
Pretty cool video, although I have my doubts on whether or not this actually makes the run faster, seems like a bit of an unnecessary risk to pull off IRL
Looks amazing as always! What trail light settings are you using? They look really good. For some reason whenever I use them I get solid red lightsabers from my taillights.
I use the PP filter method instead, here's how: In Content Manager get into CONTENT->miscellaneous->PP FILTERS->the pp filter you are currently using. Set "AFTER_IMAGE" to 1 in [GLARE] section. Then at the bottom of the section you should see "SHAPE_AFTERIMAGE_LUMINANCE" and "SHAPE_AFTERIMAGE_LENGTH". To see some effect you need to tweak first one to about 5 and second one to about 1.5. You can also increase "SHAPE LUMINANCE" a bit. Depends on cars, you may even need to fiddle with car lights config to get it work. Or just use a car that has brighter brake lights in game.
Yes, but the movement of the wheels when you get in and out of the gutter will also cause the tyre to slip, so in the end the amount of time you gain from doing this is zero versus the same road with no gutter. The time you earn is because you're using more road, not because of the gutter. I think there's only one or two corners on akina where it's actually worth doing this and that is in the longest corners, short corners like these make you lose time because you spend more of it trying to match the wheel spin with your speed to prevent slip when you go in and out than accelerating inside the gutter, so you might think you're faster through the corner but your exit is slower because on the acceleration phase you where not on full throttle. Does that make sense?
Also, if you brake enough to change your line and to get into the gutter you're losing speed. Your line of the inner tyre should touch the edge of the gutter, and then the gutter itself has to suck you in, or else you're losing speed as well
What’s your current setup like? Any lists or stuff? I really wanna get into sim racing but I don’t know how. I really like assets Corsa and hope to help my driving irl with it too.
