I understand the reluctance to label it a cult so soon after leaving. It took me nearly a decade to admit it is a full fledged cult. My reasoning for that was because so much of my family are still members, the very idea that I was in a cult, and the stigma Mormons attach to the term “cult” was so negative and shameful that I would only reserve it for the extreme cases. Today I will fully admit it is a full fledged cult, not on the same level of Jeff’s followers or Heavens gate followers, but a cult nonetheless.

When you are ready to look into the Bible. There’s a great video done very lovingly called Joseph Smith versus the Bible on RU-vid. It shows a lot of the science of textual criticism which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the Bible is the purest piece of literature of antiquity. And the prophecies prove God wrote it. He loves you I’m so glad you came out of LDS I pray God will use you into a wonderful personal relationship with HIM📖 AND the ministry Adams Road is also a great resource.

@prayingpatriot8018
@prayingpatriot8018 5 лет назад
Those were fables & lies told by the Mormon cult. While tithe happened in the OT, it not mandated or commanded by Jesus or Paul in the NT. Jesus went so far as rebuke the Jewish Pharisees on using tithing for self-enrichment purposes. Tithing is not a commandment; as to how the Mormon Pharisees always say in their general conferences. It's a multi-billion dollar a year business enterprise.
@AntonydenDulk

@@prayingpatriot8018 When was tithing stopped? Why was it stopped? What exactly was Ananias paying when he lied to Peter and died for it if not a form of tithing? Jesus rebuking the Pharisees about tithing is doing what Malachi does in his revelation. Does Jesus rebuking the Pharisees for abusing their position to use the tithing in an unlawful manner the reason you think he is against tithing? Did Christ not teach tithing when he pointed out the poor woman who was paying into the tithing pot and commended her on it while pointing out the hypocrisy of the rich? Was he not teaching that we should all be thinking of others before thinking of ourselves and is tithing and offerings not something that is supposed to be used for that purpose? How about his answer to the rich man who wanted to know how he could follow Jesus?
@prayingpatriot8018
@prayingpatriot8018 5 лет назад
@@AntonydenDulk: "When was tithing stopped?"--Read the New Testament. Show me where in the NT whether by Paul or the Lord Christ; commanded *CHRISTIANS* (not Jews) to submit to the OLD legalistic law of tithing. Was the OLD LAW ever applied to Gentiles (aka Christians)??? If so, please point out the passages. (side note: Mormons are not Christians). "Jesus rebuking the Pharisees for abusing their position to use the tithing in an unlawful manner the reason you think he is against tithing?"--The Lord Christ rebuked the Scribes & Jewish Pharisees (Matt 23:23) on grounds of diligently abusing this law while neglecting the poor. He rebuked them for their self-serving pride and not on the weightier things of God. However; Christ gave us Christians the Freedom to whether or not we should give. Not as a commandment. In 1 Cor. 16:2 if tithing were to be practiced; it should be within the keeping of one's income and not the 10% as defined in the OT. All tithes and offerings should be given with pure motives and an attitude of worship to God and service to the body of Christ. “Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). It's up the individual Christian to give. We Christians have that Freedom in Christ. That's the difference between Biblical Christianity and Mormonism. You as a Mormon are bound by the curse of the OLD LAW.

Hey sister Jessie, sister ex-Morgan! One good thing about leaving Mormonism - you don't need to fit into the box of a Mormon Stepford-wife anymore, you can just be a _normal_ wife and mother! 👍🏻 I wear white shirts sometimes (neatly pressed) - does that mean _I_ could be bound for the Celestial Kingdom? Oh goodie! 🥳 Is it a cult? I suppose the best thing you can say is that it's _cultish_ . That get's you off the hook, but I see what you mean - it's harsh to call any group a "cult". I know a little about the FLDS and rest assured, you were never _that_ bad! Like I've said before, it's not a question of whether "the church" is true. It's a question of whether the LDS "church" is a proper church at all! I would say that it isn't. Hopefully, that should be relevant as you try to work out for yourself what is true, what isn't and what _might_ be true.
@lindaraterink6451

My vieuw on it, maybe it helps people that are on this crossroad of wanting to believe in god, but don't want to be disapointed again. A church is not that important. View it as a place where people come together that have similar views on life and life questions and maybe even a place where different views on that are respected. (That would be key to me personaly.) If you can find a church like that or comes very close, well then great! That is probably your TRUE church, but your faith in god itself doesn't need a church. If it is strong enough, it will always be there.

So my question is which church is the best alternative ? My problem with paid clergy is that they have a tendency to just tell you what you want to hear… but at the same time I see the purpose of having a full time paid pastor because in the LDS church i always felt like I had to hurry with my discussions with Bishops and Stake presidents because I knew they had families and jobs etc I promised myself that I would maintain the high standards I was taught in the church such as law of chastity etc I didn’t want to use leaving the church as an excuse to sin … but I do enjoy my wine lol i still don’t drink coffee though … I’m thinking of joining whatever church Dallas Jenkins belongs to… really love “ The Chosen”…. Regardless, we’re facing some upcoming spiritual battles with the Free Masons Devil worshipers… so keep close to Jesus!!!

Jessie, you have no credibility. The CES letter is authored by disgruntled Mormons who have an axe to grind. It comprises unreliable (unverifiable) third party source material, which purposefully portrays Mormon teachings out of context. Mormons, who feel guilty about wanting to renege on their moral commitments, use the CES Letter as a rationale to leave the church, because in reality they've adopted a “worldly-overview”, and the distortion of the CES allows them to “sin” without actually owning their decisions as long as they can blame the church. Cognizant dissonance is patently sanctimonious, but that is the disingenuous world we live in. John Dehlin’s immutable behavior sets the tone for his kabuki play, where departing Mormons lament over the grief of losing their close knit community while framing their morality cult as freedom from the a high demand church. He became a Mormon critic after adopting feminist concepts that encourage an acceptance of sex outside of marriage and homo-sexuality, which by any constraint mocks the Christian Bible teachings and embodies the Anti-Christ, Anti-Family challenge of our time. Dehlin portrayed his disdain for Bible teachings by criticizing the leadership for not allowing women and the LGBTQ members to hold key administration and teaching positions in the church. When Dehlin was unceremoniously excommunicated for his condemnation of the Churches’ refusal to adopt his secular reforms, he became yet another enemy of Mormonism in its righteous endeavor to restore the family culture

I personally believe that dressing up for church is a way to show respect. Unfortunately in today's society, respect, especially for God is severely waning. People used to dress up to go out, or on a flight, etc. And the cultural decadence in the West will be it's downfall.

That's a nice song @tapir rider. Thank you for sharing it. @Ryan Ingram My comment was about dressing up for church, not dressing up for Mormon church. It's true that Morgan didn't like the dressing up found in Mormonism. But my argument is that dressing up for church is a sign of respect, regardless of what beliefs you hold. You then made a strawman argument about how people treat each other. Let's stick to the original point, of dressing up for church. By way of illustration that we should give our best to God, one needs look no further than the Bible. The requirements for animal sacrifices in the Old Testament state that it had to be the firstling of the flock, without blemish (of course to represent the Savior). In the New Testament, Christ made note of the widow's mite in Mark 12 41-44. Christ taught that she gave more, because she gave of her poverty, where others gave of their wealth. It's a wonderful lesson of sacrifice for the greater things. Matthew 26:6-12 Christ rebukes his disciples for judging the cost of the ointment. But the sacrifice was welcome by the Lord. And of course, all of us are commanded to offer our own broken spirits as a sacrifice to God. Psalms 51:17 The "The Outlaw's Prayer" by Johnny Paycheck, as shared by tapir rider, illustrates the fallability of man, but in no way suggests that we shouldn't do what we can to show respect and reverence for our Lord. I'm sure if he had something better to dress in he would have. Not because of peer pressure, but out of respect. Note that he did pray on his knees. Another sign of respect. If you can't, so be it. But if you have the means, I believe God appreciates it.
@joshua.snyder
@joshua.snyder 5 лет назад
God works from the inside. While, I can appreciate your sentimentality for traditional, old school decorum, it is far more effective to have people work sincerely with God on their hearts and minds, without the pressure to follow Pharisaical traditions. There is a fine line between respect and "keeping up appearances".

This interview series (I watched all 4) has been so so interesting! I grew up in Price, Utah, and most of my friends and peers were Mormon. I was not raised Mormon, although my mother was raised, I guess, mostly Mormon and later attended a non-denominational Protestant Christian church. I know quite a bit about the religion because our pastor, being in the middle of a Mormon community, did a lot of research and made sure that he understood as much as possible in order to be able to talk to Mormons and be able to explain how and why our beliefs were different. Thank you for being willing to talk candidly about your experiences and helping those of us who love so many of our Mormon friends and want to understand them on a deeper level. Well-done, ladies!!!

An interesting part of the interview was when this woman said that she felt that they were suppose to be Christians yet had all these judgments against others. I get it cos I'm a Jw. Although I don't think it's that a true Christian does judge others in the sense that they aren't the designer of such judgments. God is their designer and we simply accept his judgments as also been ours since we trust that he has the divine wisdom to be right and perfect and holy. So it's not so much that a Christian judges others but rather that they are messengers of God's judgments. And that is an act of love since its motivation is to save people and help them to get off of a path that according to Yehovah himself leads to death.

Great video! The bible is also very contradicting as well. I grew up in the church (my mom is Christian) and I grew up my entire life feeling like Morgan and then found out the Bible had so many false components when I got old enough to question and research for myself. I was hurt and felt betrayed. Religion is man made and no one religion is right. Every religion pretty much has the same grasp and pull from one another. And where do you prove the Bible is real and 100% correct?
@fayelewis5476
@fayelewis5476 4 года назад
"Is the Bible true?" Answer: Logic requires that there is only one objective “truth” for any specific claim. Contradictory claims cannot be equally true. For example, the statements “the hamster is in its cage” and “the hamster cage is empty” cannot both be true simultaneously. This evaluation of truth applies to spiritual matters just as well as logical or physical matters. It’s reasonable to claim that the Bible is true in a way that excludes all other statements. Examining the Bible in the same way we would any other text, we can confidently say that it is, in fact, true. The Bible not only encourages readers to examine their own beliefs (1 John 4:1), but it also commends those who check spiritual claims for truth (Acts 17:11). The Bible makes claims on the basis of history and eyewitnesses (Luke 1:1-4; 2 Peter 1:16), connects belief to visible evidence (John 20:30-31), and ties biblical ideas to the observable world (Psalm 19:1; Romans 1). Jesus overtly claimed to represent an exclusive truth (John 18:37; 14:6). So the Bible is clearly meant to be interpreted as true, and exclusively true (John 17:17). Where we can check biblical claims against verifiable truth, the Bible proves itself accurate. History, archaeology, science, and philosophy have shown Scripture to be factual and consistent. This correspondence between various forms of evidence is a major advantage the Bible has over the scriptures of any other faith system. In many cases, it has been the deciding factor in converting skeptics and nonbelievers to faith in Christ. Whether or not the Bible is true is a separate question from whether or not a particular passage is “literal.” It’s reasonable to say that a phrase or statement is true, even if the truth is not presented in literal terms. For example, if a person says during a heavy rain, “It’s raining cats and dogs,” the statement is true-it’s just not literal. Idiomatic phrases are meant to be interpreted. The same principle applies to John’s words about Jesus: “Look, the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36). Of course, a person might ask for clarification, and be told, based on Old Testament passages, that Jesus isn’t literally a wooly farm animal, but that He’s the fulfillment of the Law and the divinely chosen sacrifice to redeem the world. The figurative nature of John’s statement doesn’t make his statement untrue, simply metaphorical. It’s good to remember that the Bible is comprised of sixty-six separate books, and each of them often contains different types of literature and a mixture of literal and figurative language. More so than with any other religious text, we have assurance that the Bible is true. The combination of internal consistency, connection to evidence, and relevance to our experience makes the Bible unique among books. Like many religious works, the Bible claims to be true (2 Timothy 3:16). Unlike any other religious work, the Bible emphatically supports that assertion. www.gotquestions.org/is-the-Bible-true.html

Faye Lewis interesting answer. It doesn’t prove the Bible is correct unless one accepts that everything that could be verified in the Bible by science and history has been verified.

@@thewrongshoes Your sin has already earned you the death penalty. You will die one day. You are not getting out of that punishment. The Bible clearly and explicitly teaches that hell is a real place to which the wicked/unbelieving are sent after death. We have all sinned against God (Romans 3:23). The just punishment for that sin is death (Romans 6:23). Since all of our sin is ultimately against God (Psalm 51:4), and since God is an infinite and eternal Being, the punishment for sin, death, must also be infinite and eternal. Hell is this infinite and eternal death which we have earned because of our sin. Jesus Himself indicates that punishment in hell is just as everlasting as life in heaven (Matthew 25:46). The wicked are forever subject to the fury and the wrath of God. Those in hell will acknowledge the perfect justice of God (Psalm 76:10). Those who are in hell will know that their punishment is just and that they alone are to blame (Deuteronomy 32:3-5) You don't believe the Bible is true. You don't believe Jesus Christ ever existed. That doesn't change anything. We are having this conversation because you know it is true. If there were no God there would be no atheists.

Yes :) I’ve heard it all. I understand it all. Probably not true, 95% most likely lol. But I’ll stay put going every week to the lds church and living like it’s true. That’s my path. Don’t see ANYTHING better out there. Why would I leave? For what? I think my family and I are better off staying. No one has all knowledge and all truth, so may as well follow what I’ve been grown up on. Definitely better than leaving and not following this. I see it like a diet. No diet is the absolute truth but following most any diet is MUcH better than not! And your diet and anyone else’s diet who’s to say that’s better for me if they can’t prove absolute truth . But def interesting to find all this stuff out thanks

MB It's not easy leaving the LDS church if your whole family is in it. Ask anyone who left, alot turn to atheistism but others become Christians. It's easy to become an atheist because you're already taught that other Christians are in apostate churches. And the LDS church does do alot of (good things). Only the Holy Spirit can lead you to the Truth, information can help, but most people cannot be pressured into beliefs. Keep watching these videos and also talking to mormons videos for good info.

Hi Michael, I am an lds. Many of the things from jessie's videos are new to me because those were not taught in the church. Now i'm confuse because if I leave, I do not see any better church for me.. It's true perhaps we do not need a religion or church, just believe in God and have faith in JC accompanied by good works would be enough but still I do not feel complete if I don't go to church so I might want to keep attending the lds church because they teach many good things and we received more blessings since we became active.. Any opinion would be appreciated.. Thanks

@@makagago666 Jesus Divides Families Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth.divide families I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ (Mat 10:34-36) Why is that clear truth about the Lord Jesus Christ dividing families avoided? Because people generally want to preach and hear about a loving, all-accepting gracious Savior, who smiled and preached easy to receive teachings with little or no demands placed on them. They want to believe in a Savior like that, a mythical god, not one which divides families! The God of truth (Isa. 65:16) is the God of the Bible. Since truth divides, then Jesus would naturally divide his followers away from those who reject and hate God’s truth, even one’s natural family members. Remember, Jesus divides families: Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:51-53) Those same truth rejecters become enemies to the truth lovers as they resist and persecute the follower of Jesus. That test places the Christian with a divided family in a position where he must count the cost to follow Jesus unashamedly! Is he at that point where he must decide if he is going to please God and remain faithful to him or his truth-rejecting natural family? If he returns as a dog to his vomit to win the favor of his spiritually dead family he will lose his salvation. To be worthy of Jesus and eternal life, one must side with God’s truth even though it divides his own family. That truth is vital for especially new converts to Christianity when they are tested by family division. Remember: Jesus came to divide as a test and is basic to true conversion! www.eternallifeblog.com/jesus-divide-families/

Just as a brief answer, some people thought that the rule for no coffee was because of the caffeine so many mormons took it upon themselves as a rule when it isn't actually recorded doctrine. I don't believe there has ever been a time in the church where caffeine wasn't allowed, but I could be wrong.

"How do you know that their doctrine is Biblical"? How do you know that Bible holds truth? You can't just say, "It's in the Bible so it must be true". Let's investigate the Bible. You can't use to the Bible to prove the Bible is true.

If all religions are the same why did christ tell the pharisees and others they were wrong??They were teaching from old testament doctrine.He said one faith and one baptism meaning not multiple faiths(catholic, Baptist, ect)one baptism like he did with full immersion not sprinkles on a babies head.

All religions are NOT the same. I believe in Biblical Christianity. Your statement above is a horribly naive one and is one that I have never said so you are obviously not listening to any of my videos and are only commenting irrelevant things, rather than actually wanting to understand. I reject every single religion that does not teach the Biblical Gospel. I reject religion and choose a true relationship with Jesus. Galatians chapter one warns against all the false gospels and false religions that teach a gospel that contradicts the Biblical Gospel. This includes a warning against Mormonism.

And yes, full immersion is absolutely Biblical. That's what is done in churches that are centered on the Word of God. I was baptized by immersion and my church does this for all who choose to obey God and get baptized. It's a public display of an inner commitment to Christ. Baptism does not save anyone but is obedience.

@@angiehille4207 I'd love to respond to that last comment. 🥰 I've been reading and studying the Book of Mormon. I have been shocked to find how many verses I absolutely agree with and that teach the Biblical God. For example: God is Spirit: Alma 18:24-26 Alma 22:9-11 John 4:24 John 5:37 Luke 24:39 Colossians 1:15 1 Timothy 1:17 1 Timothy 6:16 Hebrews 12:29 And then also, regarding the Trinitarian belief that God is One God who manifests Himself through three distinct Persons: 2 Nephi 31:21 “And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.” This is Joseph Smith’s monotheistic view when the Book of Mormon was written. These are phrases that would ever be used by anyone NOT believing in the Trinity. To be excused as a description of three separate beings, who are one in purpose - it would at least need to read in the plural, not singular - such as, “which ARE one God” instead of “which IS one God.” It wasn’t until years later that Joseph Smith took on a tri-theistic point of view. It is recorded in the Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith p. 370 “I will preach on the plurality of God… I have always declared God to be a distinct personage, Jesus Christ a separate and distinct personage from God the Father, and that the Holy Ghost was a distinct personage and a Spirit: and these three constitute three distinct personages and three Gods.” Joseph did not use the Book of Mormon in most of his sermons. And don’t forget - he even tried to sell the copyright to the Book of Mormon at one point in Canada. In addition to the Trinitarian (defined as three Persons in one Being) context of this Book of Mormon verse - once again, this was the pre-Christian era in which the Old Testament has no references to Christ or the Son of God or the Holy Ghost - at all. Additionally, the doctrines of Christ have no place in the Mosaic Law which the Nephites were supposedly living. Remember, Christ came to fulfill the Law of Moses. Then, another concept taught in the Book of Mormon is God becoming the Son, who becomes the Holy Ghost - making God - modalistic. Modalism - is a term describing God as, not three distinct persons - like in modern Mormonism - but rather three modes or forms of activity under which God manifests himself. For example, Mosiah 15:1-4 “And now Abinadi said unto them: I would that ye should understand that God himself shall come down among the children of men, and shall redeem his people. And because he dwelleth in flesh he shall be called the Son of God, and having subjected the flesh to the will of the Father, being the Father and the Son - The Father, because he was conceived by the power of God; and the Son, because of the flesh; thus becoming the Father and Son - And they are one God, yea, the very Eternal Father of heaven and of earth.” Now, the Latter-day Saint will say “One in purpose,” - but it doesn’t say one in purpose - it says, “Which is one God.” You can’t read it as one in purpose. It says in 2 Nephi 31:21 “This is the doctrine of Christ, the only true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost - which is one God.” (see also D&C 20:28; Alma 11:26-29; Alma 11:38-39; Alma 11:44; 3 Nephi 11:36; D&C 49:5,28; 3 Nephi 26:12; 3 Nephi 11:14,17,25,27; Helaman 14:12; Mormon 7:7; Ether 3:14-15). This is all Scripture references and a direct quote from Joseph Smith. Then we read the King Follett Discourse from the LDS church's website and we find the total opposite of what I listed above. Not only in the sermon I'll post below but in Pearl of Great Price (book of Abraham). www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ensign/1971/04/the-king-follett-sermon?lang=eng I am speaking specifically about the section of the King Follett Discourse that is titled "God an Exalted Man." "God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens. That is the great secret... We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity, I will refute that idea, and will take away and do away the vail, so that you may see... Here, then, is eternal life-to know the only wise and true God; and you have got to learn how to be Gods yourselves, and to be kings and priests to God, the same as all Gods have done before you,-namely, by going from one small degree to another, and from a small capacity to a great one,-from grace to grace, from exaltation to exaltation, until you attain to the resurrection of the dead, and are able to dwell in everlasting burnings and to sit in glory, as do those who sit enthroned in everlasting power."
