Thanks for joining us for Part 1 of this video interview! I hope you'll come back for Part 2, 3 and 4! From growing up Mormon to realizing it was a false religion to transitioning out of the church to dealing with all of it in hindsight, we cover it all. Our hope is that this will be helpful to those of you who are actively LDS and are searching and also to those of you who have left the church and are needing community and someone else who understands what you've been through. Thanks for watching!
Feel free to reach out any time as I'd love to share my testimony as a born again Christian with you and share the true hope I have in the true Jesus of the Bible!
My Email: Itsmejessieo@outlook.com
I have an entire channel here on RU-vid where I talk about MANY Mormon topics... history, current events, teachings and more. Here's the link:

Great interview! As a 71 yr old ex-mormon grandma,I find you two so heartwarming😙I joined the church at age 30,only member in my family and was a convicted,devout,devoted,very active 150% TBM for 40 years(!!!)Serving most of that time in presidencies and as a temple ordinance worker.I resigned from the church last year,after 3yrs intensive research into its history.It was heart-breaking,devastating.You two are doing a wonderful job.Thank you! Keep the videos coming.💖💕❤

Thanks for sharing your story I left the church of christ after being in my whole life almost 31 years. It was crazy to leave bc they were the only saved church. We weren't allowed to have instruments or kitchen or food in there at all and other weird stuff. All salvation issues lol. Anyway I'm so proud of you for leaving. You did the right thing and its sooo hard when u always thought that's the only one saved church. I am a follower of jesus now. I always knew the same God, churches just hide his real identity or put him in a box. He is love💛💛💛💛 I loved hearing about your experience. I feel that I am who I am partly bc of that crazy church tho and some of it was useful lol.

By the time I turned 12 I stopped saying “I know the church is true” and I never knew or believed Joseph Smith was a true prophet, I never got the burning in the bosom over whether the church is true or not despite reading and praying over the Book of Mormon and being as close to perfect as I could be. The only times I got a “burning in the bosom” was when I would listen to people’s stories about compassion, empathy, forgiveness, etc.
@veritasrestituta812
@veritasrestituta812 5 лет назад
Yes “I know the church true” has become an unintended over statement that really means I believe. The spirit works in many ways other than the burning in the bosom. If you haven’t left the church already I would encourage you to stay or not make a hasty decision influenced by RU-vid videos. Most importantly rid yourself of the I need to be perfect idea this is not a pressure the church wants you to bear. Do your best knowing we all fall short and need Jesus our savior for peace and forgiveness. Answers do come

Eric Dunn already left the church, way before these videos ever found their way on RU-vid. But all is well, I still look at everything with a skeptical eye. Truth has no fear of being tested and studied. I have no doubt answers will come as I continue to study and search.

Neena Dee I’m glad to hear all is well sad to hear you have left the church. If you are sincerely still searching for truth I have a challenge for you an experiment of sorts. Try and clear your mind of all preconceived ideas or doubts about god.For one week pray to god morning and night speak to him as a loving father who knows you. Make note during the week of thoughts, feelings, dreams. Become aware of your surroundings. Pay close attention to the people you come in contact with during the week are they carrying a message. Put aside for just one week your skeptical eye and instead assume everything around you has the potential of bringing you a message from God. It’s just a week god bless ✌️

Amazing! I'm an Ex-Mormon from Brazil and it's incredible how I can relate to the things she said. Here in Brazil is even worse, because we do not have many books talking about the History of the church beside the ones from the church. Tatyana Kakosso have you read the Gospel Topics Essays (LDS.org) allready? Brian C Hales is responsible for the Essay about Polygamy. In other works of Hales you can read the following: ( Joseph Smith talking to Lucy Walker) “He also said, “This principle will yet be believed in and practiced by the righteous. I have no flattering words to offer. It is a command of God to you. I will give you until tomorrow to decide this matter. If you reject this message the gate will be closed forever against you.”” Which gate Tatyana? The gate of Joseph’s garden, or house? Or the gate of the Celestial Heaven? Does God work this way?! josephsmithspolygamy.org/plural-wives-overview/lucy-walker/ Do please also read the Essay about the accounts of the first Visions. And please read D&C 132:41 :”And as ye have asked concerning adultery, verily, verily, I say unto you, if a man receiveth a wife in the new and everlasting convenant, and if she be with another man, AND I HAVE NOT APPOINTED UNTO HER BY THE HOLY ANOINTING she hath committed adultery and shall be destroyed.” If the wife IS appointed by the “holy anointing” she than can have sex with two, or more, men! Polyandry? (One wife with more men. Joseph Smith, the founder of the Mormon church, married 11 wifes which were allready married). And as Jessie said she has good stuff about the LDS church! Please don’t become a atheïst Tatyana. You can find Jesus outside the LDS church.

My Spiritual Life ...You are a treasure...you and your husband as a union is something people might see as common, but really things like that are most sacred...most sacramental...most holy if you want to see the real beauty of God’s action on this rock 🌎 . I liken it a bit to “.... WOULD YA LIKE TA SEE WHAT’S RIGHT IN THE WORLD 🌎 ???....(sitah’ Jensen).” FIrst I will tell you I am a X !-catholic. .”..You will never find a more wretched, vile hive of scum and villainy..” Than the Vatican ( even in Mose Eisley Space Port ...forgive the Star Wars ref) And I became equated with the mayhem of the LDS when a friend was going to move to SLC...and I said I think Mormonism is a cult acting like a religion acting as a cult...and SLC is a city acting like a HQ of a cult acting like a religion acting like a cult acting like a city..( I could be wrong)...I just said to this Non-LDS, I think that if you’re not Brother or Sister Brigham, you might not have a reason to sink in there. And she said I was wrong...so then I started looking into SLC LDS UTAH PROVO....teen suicide sexual abuse spousal abuse and spousal MURDER... and gollly...there are just studies and articles a many. I enjoyed your education on the term TBM...funny. And I did try to read the Book Of Mormon ...and when I read..(paraphrase)...”Some people will try to tell you that the words in this book are not true....Don’t believe them...” (that is when I questioned the viability of what was to follow).Don’t get me wrong....I do love the “Hard Sell”. Following I started watching the “How and Why And Was and Am not now LDS Videos”... and that is how I stumbled across your channel. You’re a great girl....I believe people like you who’s brains 🧠 work so well is because your honest and smart. This is wayyy to long...but I hope for all good things for you...and I have the bell 🛎 notification. One funny story you may like is one channel former LDS, said she first thought the whole thing was scam and wrong during her “Temple Ceremony”...and said this can’t be right, and I guess everyone like her family was there and she was like stunned and paralyzed. “..awkward..” Be Well Ex-Morgan....I really like the Preachings of Adrian Rogers on line...he is dead now..and if you can get past the Mega Church sort of scene about him, and listen to the messages...he is of value...”Nothing Churchianity about him.” However I am a NON-PRE TRIB RAPTURE person. Love the first and second Thessalonians. There is video by Steven Anderson called “ After the Tribulation” and new film called “Beyond Jordan” which are both on line....both very good. He is KJV only as am I when it comes to the Bible. He is truly way hard core though....Big Big Big Anti Homosexuality...but the man takes his Leviticus at its word and Sodom did take it right in the teeth.... In fact he also has an interesting Video on the History of the KJV which is also nicely succinct and super informative. Lastly...I am not pushing anything at you here Ex-Morgan just giving you some 411 you might like that you can digest on your own... All good things. Remember... “Jesus Didn’t Tap ! ! !” ...MMA term ask your Boaz. :>

HI EX-Morgan!!! I didn't know you grew up here. I'm in St. Louis now. I can honestly say that at 57 years old I've only met ONE mormon here - except for the few that came to my door on occasion. She was an Ex--Mormon and she was my roomate and she HATED mormons and wouldn't let me let them in the apartment to talk when they came knocking. She was super screwed up and still is to this day. Back in the 80's there wasn't any social media - or even much in the way of the internet- so she had no way to get support or validation for what she suffered through after her disassociation from her family and her church.

I have a question that is coming from a "never was" Mormon or "Gentile" who did my graduate work at BYU. Why do Mormons place such importance on personal testimonies? I would patiently wait and listen as Mormons would give their testimony to me. They were dumbfounded after finishing when I would tell them that it meant absolutely nothing to me and had no baring on what I believed. It seemed to really deflate their enthusiasm to proselytize to me. Why would any non-mormon be influenced by listening to someone's testimony? Thanks
@fayelewis5476
@fayelewis5476 5 лет назад
It is probably part of being in a cult. Mormons claim that a personal feeling, a burning in the bosom, which is interpreted to be a "manifestation" of the Holy Ghost, is the only evidence needed to prove that the religion is true. However virtually all religions claim to have spiritual experiences. Compare for example: Religion Experience Islamism Sufism Buddhism Nirvana Hinduism Moksha Mormonism Burning in bosom Religious experiences serve as confirmation of its truthfulness, and results in personal testimonies that are repeated as self-assuring affirmations, which in turn compound the verity of one's religion. Compare for example: A common Mormon testimony I bear you my testimony that I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God and I know that the Church is the only true church . A common Muslim testimony I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammed is the servant and Messenger of Allah (the "Shahada") In a world of diverse religions and conflicting teachings-each with spiritual experiences, we can conclude: All religions may be false, but all cannot be equally true. Spiritual experiences are not all from the same source. Spiritual experiences do not always guarantee true teaching. Since the spiritual can be experienced in many religions, what makes the Mormon witness the true spiritual witness?

Mormons claim that a personal feeling, a burning in the bosom, which is interpreted to be a "manifestation" of the Holy Ghost, is the only evidence needed to prove that the religion is true. However virtually all religions claim to have spiritual experiences. Compare for example: Religion Experience Islamism Sufism Buddhism Nirvana Hinduism Moksha Mormonism Burning in bosom Religious experiences serve as confirmation of its truthfulness, and results in personal testimonies that are repeated as self-assuring affirmations, which in turn compound the verity of one's religion. Compare for example: A common Mormon testimony I bear you my testimony that I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God and I know that the Church is the only true church A common Muslim testimony I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Mohammed is the servant and Messenger of Allah (the "Shahada") In a world of diverse religions and conflicting teachings-each with spiritual experiences, we can conclude: All religions may be false, but all cannot be equally true. Spiritual experiences are not all from the same source. Spiritual experiences do not always guarantee true teaching.

Historical information on discrepancies with the church can be interesting, but it's not interesting enough to leave the church. It's still possible that some of the information to criticize the church is false. There were points made about Latter-Day Saints having temples to redeem the dead, when other churches don't and Latter-Day Saints serving 2 year missions when other religious people and denominations don't do that. Those are green flags to me for the church. Even tithing is all over the Bible and tithe actually means tenth in the current dictionary. Tithing or donations in other churches are usually considered to be "whatever's fair", but not one tenth. This makes Latter-Day Saints more biblical than others especially with baptism for the dead being mentioned in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 15. Didn't father Abraham practice polygamy? Latter-Day Saints believe this was because of commandment. Another Christian I've known acknowledges it, but says it wasn't by commandment. So Abraham was a sinner or what? Judaism, Islam, and Christianity are all Abrahamic faiths. Who's going to build the "new" temple in Jerusalem in the future if Latter-Day Saints are the only modern temple builders, huh? You see, there can be enough green flags to overwhelm and to make any red flags less interesting or unimportant. Let's say the facsimiles in The Book of Abraham are false like Egyptology experts believe. I've never had to use them in church for anything anyway, so they're there, but are they harming anything? However the sign of the compass and square can be seen in one of the facsimiles. There's an Ohio Hopewell mound that has an oil lamp, menorah, and compass and square symbols. Maybe this makes the fascimiles at least part true.
@itsmejessie
@itsmejessie 5 лет назад
Oh goodness.. where to start.. I Cor 15 has nothing to do with baptism for the dead! It's all about the resurrection of Christ giving power for Salvation. Baptism for the dead is absolutely unbiblical. Was Abraham a sinner for having a child with a woman other than his wife Sarah? Yes! God was not okay with Abraham sleeping with his servant. It was going against God. Read the story and you'll see this to be so. God gave Sarah a son in her old age like He promised. And he was blessed. What about his other son? Nope. The Book of Abraham is a total failure. And yet it's "scripture." That's insane. Book of Abraham just shows that Joseph was a liar, conman and false prophet. He thought he could get away with it in the 1800s and did. But now we know the truth with the actual Papyri and the Rosetta Stone.
@willrobbins1651
@willrobbins1651 5 лет назад
@tapir rider The Bat Creek stone is Hebrew language, not Cherokee for "for the Judeans". There's still other things you have to address like the Ohio Decalogue stone. I've seen the Hidden in the Heartland episodes. Have you? What about the ancient artifact of the five books of Moses being found on parchment or some kind of paper? When thinking about truth, for me it's not the archaeology or history, or even if the facsimiles are false. You can't connect a dot so easily that if The Book of Abraham is actually false, that The Book of Mormon must be false also. It's possible for one to be false and the other true in my mind. About what also stares me in the face is that various Christian denominations can't prove to me that they have correct or true baptism with authority to baptize. All they have is a Bible. I'm supposed to trust how individuals/denominations want to interpret it. That's already messed up. You're right that the propoganda you're talking about can be harmful to church members' faith, whether it's just negative, or negative about the positive.

@Hale Hafa Here we go again. The Bible teaches the trinity. Anyone who denies the trinity is not a Christian. That is why LDS is a cult. In a Christian context, the definition of a cult is, specifically, “a religious group that denies one or more of the fundamentals of biblical truth.” A cult is a group that teaches doctrines that, if believed, will cause a person to remain unsaved. A cult claims to be part of a religion, yet it denies essential truth(s) of that religion. Therefore, a Christian cult will deny one or more of the fundamental truths of Christianity while still claiming to be Christian. The two most common teachings of Christian cults are that Jesus was not God and that salvation is not by faith alone. A denial of the deity of Christ results in the view that Jesus’ death was insufficient to pay for our sins. A denial of salvation by faith alone results in the teaching that salvation is achieved by our own works. The apostles dealt with cults in the early years of the church: for example, John addresses the teaching of Gnosticism in 1 John 4:1-3. John’s litmus test for godly doctrine was “Jesus Christ has come in the flesh” (verse 2)-a direct contradiction of the Gnostic heresy (cf. 2 John 1:7). The two most well-known examples of cults today are the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons. Both groups claim to be Christian, yet both deny the deity of Christ and salvation by faith alone. Jehovah’s Witnesses and Mormons believe many things that are in agreement with or similar to what the Bible teaches. However, the fact that they deny the deity of Christ and preach a salvation by works qualifies them as cults. Many Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormons, and members of other cults are moral people who genuinely believe they hold the truth.

As you read through the New Testament, you will come to see who Jesus really is. What the true Gospel is. And you don't have to live with constant fear of Hell. Jesus defeated death when He was resurrected. He offered freedom to everyone who believes on Him... freedom from death, from the bondage of sin, from Hell. When questioning a Mormon about JS seeing God, quoting St. John 1: 18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. the glib comment was ... that might have been true up to (St.) John's time but JS has (definitely) seen him. As further justification, the LDS is very keen to quote Exodus 33: 11 And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle. ... of JS's claim. What is of course hilarious about quoting Exodus 33:11 ... IS THAT NINE verses later there is Exodus 11: 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. JS did live until he died in a losing gun battle in which he shot three men, killing two, before he himself was shot and killed ... some "martyr"? Conclusion: JS NEVER saw God ... the LDS is built on lies.

@@javymcdeez3958 There is a lot of untrue criticism of Christians around. The largest by far charitable organization in the world is the Catholic Church. "you know Christians took Native Americans land and called it private property" … I do not know that. What I do know is that Catholic religious came to Canada and provided many opportunities for education. I am particularly aware of what happened in Kenya. The Catholic and Christian missionaries were the main providers of education and medical help. A Catholic organization founded the first non-racial school in East Africa taking in each year 40 blacks, 10 browns and 10 whites in a two year preparation for university entrance. Because it was run by Catholics, it not only had to be non-racial but also non-denominational - Catholics serve everyone. … so Javy … it really depends on who you listen to, doesn't it? The number of different religions/denominations is bothersome … since there is only one God … common sense tells us there can only be one Almighty God. And Science tells us there is a God: matter does not have the cognitive ability, does it?. Sub-atomic particles are so complex we still do not fully comprehend their complexity AND they do not have the capacity to design themselves. Yet they are so ideally designed they can form a limited number of different atomic structures: how did that happen? These atomic structures can combine electro-valently or covalently to form compounds in the appropriate proportions to form the universe … AND IT ALL JUST HAPPENED: the right amount of helium, the right amount of hydrogen and oxygen to form water all the extremely complex organic compounds, the earth as an outlier etc etc etc???? Things don't just happen … there needs to be a first cause and Almighty God, as the Bible tells us is the best explanation - far better than "it just happened". Cheers - over to you ...

coalhouse1981 you have got a good point. We all know the parable of the wide road and the narrow road. Imagine that 20 percent goes on the narrow road and 80 percent on the wide road. Then according to Christian teaching 80 percent would go to hell. Then God is a sadist and he should not have made people. There cannot be a thin line where people who are just above go to heaven and people who are just below go to hell. It must be different. I myself think that you get what you deserve and that the image that the Mormons of the afterlife have is quite correct. All I can do is do my best to put God at the center of my life, hope for the best and I will see how it is on the other side. But mabey Jessie has a better answer.

@@coalhouse1981 I believe what the Bible says and it says there's a literal Heaven and a literal Hell. No one makes it to Heaven without placing their faith and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior and the only means by which our sins can be forgiven. The reason ExMormons turn to Christianity is that they find a genuine hope and peace in the real God. Mormonism teaches a false message across the board.. God, Jesus, the Gospel, false prophets, lack of historical evidence, anachronisms and impossibilities in their scriptures, a very rocky and shady history that's full of secrets and lies.. once you realize all of this, you're able to step back and see that Joseph Smith did the exact same thing Mohammed did and the Jehovah's Witnesses did and so many others... a false prophet comes along and claims to have a new revelation. All of which change who Jesus is! They all are based upon the Bible but don't fully trust it and distort and change it. So when you realize this and that you've been trapped in a false belief system, you can sit back and examine the Bible for what it is. The Word of God. It's historically accurate. It's loaded with archeological evidence. It has answers and no secrets. It offers a relationship with the God of the universe as a free gift for those who humble themselves and just accept it. It offers freedom from the bondage of sin. It offers an escape from Satan's stronghold over us and tells us that once we're saved, no man can snatch us out of the Father's hand so that we can live with confident assurance in our eternal future and destiny. It changes us from people void of purpose into people who are fulfilled and rejoicing in our Salvation and the hope we have found in Christ. The reality of Hell is harsh but so is the reality that every single one of us will die. No one will escape death. What happens after death? Well, the Bible makes that clear. Christianity is a powerful thing because even the most brilliant and militant Atheists, when they test it and try to prove it wrong, more often than not turn to Christianity and saving faith in Jesus. Alister McGrath, Simon Greenleaf, Lee Strobel.... the list goes on and on. Christianity is freedom and hope and gives meaning and purpose to life. That's why. It's the greatest joy a man can ever know. God will never leave us nor forsake us. We all have the choice to choose or reject Him.

Title: "I'm a born-again Christian who likes to critique other Christian sects that don't fall in line with my doctrine". The CES letter is authored by disgruntled Mormons who have an axe to grind. It comprises unreliable (unverifiable) third party source material, which purposefully portrays Mormon teachings out of context. Mormons, who feel guilty about wanting to renege on their moral commitments, use the CES Letter as a rationale to leave the church, because in reality they've adopted a “worldly-overview”, and the distortion of the CES allows them to “sin” without actually owning their decisions - if they can blame the church. Cognizant dissonance is patently sanctimonious, but that is the disingenuous world we live in. John Dehlin’s immature behavior sets the tone for his kabuki theatre, where departing Mormons lament over the grief of losing their close knit community, while framing their new morality as freedom from the cult. He became a Mormon critic after adopting feminist concepts that encourage an acceptance of sex outside of marriage and homo-sexuality, which by any constraint mocks the Christian Bible teachings and embodies the Anti-Christ, Anti-Family challenge of our time. Dehlin portrayed his disdain for Bible teachings through a doctrine of criticizing the leadership for not allowing women and the LBGTQ members to hold key administration and teaching positions in the church. When Dehlin was unceremoniously excommunicated for his condemnation of the Churches’ refusal to adopt his secular reforms, he became yet another enemy of Mormonism in its righteous endeavor to restore the family culture.
