In this video, I break down the best Cairo neighborhoods to live in as an expat depending on your needs and interests. Egypt can be overwhelming to even the most seasoned traveler, and figuring out where to live in Cairo can feel like looking for a pebble in a ballpit. Each expat moving to Cairo has his or her own concerns, priorities, and needs, so in this video I’ve addressed some of the bigger issues facing expats and recommended neighborhoods in Cairo accordingly. For some, downtown Cairo may be perfect, but others may find comfort in the Fifth Settlement or 6th of October City. I hope the video brings some clarity to Cairo’s urban layout, and let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

I’m considering retiring in Egypt from California 😊10 yrs to go 😢
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside Месяц назад
@holistikaspa3075 sounds like a great plan! Are you thinking of retiring in Cairo specifically or somewhere else in Egypt? The reason I ask is Cairo can be extremely hectic and may not be the average person's ideal retirement environment. That may be exactly what you're looking for (I don't know you), but I wanted to bring it up to be clear. If you're looking for a more laid back environment, Dahab or somewhere in the Sinai might be good to consider as well. Thanks for watching:)

Thanks for the video! Just what I needed to see. Our family is looking to relocate for a few years and have been looking at neighbourhoods (Sheikh Zayed City work is close to here) / international schools etc. We have 9 and 12yo kids who love sports. I hope they are able to play football, do gymnastics etc if we were to move there. Any thoughts on this appreciated! Thanks!
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside Год назад
Glad the video helped! I would definitely say Sheikh Zayed and Sixth of October are your best optinos. There should be lots of sports clubs in the area where your kids could do football and gymnastics if the schools themselves don't have them. To make this work outstanding you have to redo the video with relevant inserts of the areas atleast to give an impression to millions who have never been to Cairo or those who want to know more about the megacity. In a medium for the 'eye', it is always better to give it to the 'eye'.😮😊

@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside Месяц назад
I don't know the Narges Villas area, but Rehab is nice. I knew some people who lived in Rehab and they liked it. It's pretty enclosed, so there are lots of things nearby, and it's not as chaotic as more central parts of Cairo. When I've visited Rehab by car at night, the traffic to get in was pretty bad as there are gates. It depends on where you work. Like I said in the video, I highly advise you to live close to where you work.

What areas have great walkability?
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside 11 месяцев назад
The term “great” is relative. The only areas that can be considered walkable are Maadi, downtown, and zamalek. Mohandiseen and Dokki to a lesser extent. The desert suburbs are not walkable at all. You need a car, whether your own or Uber, to get around.

I was born in el Dokki and left Egypt 60 years ago. Unfortunately I can only speak the language, I can’t read or write because I was educated in Canada. I want to go back to Egypt, Canada is not vary good anymore because of the current liberal government. I just don’t know If I will be able to function because I am illiterate in Arabic and am afraid of being taken advantage of because of my advanced age. Perhaps you can explain in your next video how much it cost to purchase a condo in New Cairo and Alexandria and Marissa Matrouh? Thank You.
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside 11 месяцев назад
I am by no means an expert in buying a condo or apartment in Egypt, but I would suggest trying to make contact with some people in Egypt who will be able to help. Having a partner on the ground is the best way to avoid being taken advantage, and being there in person will beat any sort of online searching. New Cairo has lots of apartments/condos available. Best of luck!

Where can you find $85 to $100 apartments at do you know any names of apartments and locations also what website is good to search for any good apartments
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside 4 месяца назад
It might be pretty hard to find them that cheap, but best bet is to join expat groups or non expat groups posting for furnished apartments. It helps to know people there. People are going to charge more for a foreigner probably. Your best bet is to find people to split an apartment in downtown or Abdeen or nasr city maybe.

@mariabradshaw4289 4 месяца назад
@@RashadGoesOutside oh ok Egypt is not cheap? Are there some for 200 or $300
@RashadGoesOutside
@RashadGoesOutside 4 месяца назад
Yes, but quality of the accomodation ranges a lot. There are lots of Facebook groups in Arabic that have apartments for rent listed. My advice would be to check those out, and if you can't read Arabic, find someone to help you out who can. The ideal scenario is you know someone in Cairo who can find you a place. @@mariabradshaw4289

Thanks for your comment. I was not attempting to distance Egypt from Africa at all; rather, my focus was only on the city of Cairo and its neighborhoods. I also did not mention the "Arab World" or "The Middle East" much at all, and I didn't even mention other large cities in Egypt like Alexandria, Mansoura, Aswan, or Port Said. Larger categories of geography are not relevant to the video. I hope this answers your question.
