In this video I discuss why I choose to go with a tubing kit for this project and my experience building the fuselage to the experimental super cub vr3.ca/
Thanks for the build series! Cool project! about the Super Cub Plans, what/where did you get them? AND does VR3 send assemble plans with their kit? I am guessing/hoping they have a specific order of assembly. AND......if you have time can you talk about your build space, table and equipment in a future video. I'm an EAA member and our club is following your build. Thanks!
Thanks for watching! When Building an experimental cub (not from a kit) most people buy the northland plans ($60 google search it) and then use those combined with the drawings on supercubproject.com to fabricate most of the parts. With the VR3 kit you are provided with drawings and some assembly guidelines. I have never built anything out of tubing and my came out very nice! I'll do a video on build space soon.
Hey Lee. In one of your vids you mention that the fuselage can' t be built flat on a table and tipped up like other home built. The plane for the Wag-Aero J-3 cub do just that. You build the sides flat then tip them up and add the top and bottom cross members to form the curves. Did you consider this idea and reject it for some reason? Is the some relevant difference from the PA-18 to J-3 that makes this an issue? Just trying to understand the options. Thanks
Marc, I'm not familiar with how the j-3 is built but the VR3 kit needs to built upright. The longerons have several bends in them and the process that they recommend works well for building this kit. Hope this helps.

What did the kit from VR3 cost? I currently am rebuilding my Challenger 2 which is on amphibious floats. But I'm looking for a new project build and I'm curious what the tubing kit cost.
