Over the last couple of years, I have truly started to analyze my hook setting footage. In this video, I break down what I believe to be the true reasons, for people missing a large percentage of strikes, on hollow body frogs!

Excellent advice Nick. I had the opportunity to meet you at Icast about 3 years ago when you were releasing the Savage Gear elaztek frog with the single hook and you worked with me on skipping frogs and gave me some great pointers at the skipping pool you had setup that really helped. Thanks again for your help it has paid off immensely on my frog fishing game

I struggle when the bite is super far out and I have alot of line out. If it's between 15-30ft I got em anything more than that I miss them alot of the time. Makes a lot of sense, best frog fishing hookset video out there.

cannot wait and try this method, I have always been waiting and snapping line, lost loads this year on frogs. So many people have different ways to fish a frog, I hope this one works better. Practice will start tmr.

Excellent video. I have been in a super slump all year with frogs. Late in the spring I had 11 blow ups in one cove and was 0-11. I put it down after that but I’m rdy to pick it back up. I also got another rod since the one I had was extra fast and I felt like I was ripping it out of their mouth too fast but what you said makes a lot of sense. I’m going to start reeling down straightening until pressure and rip it. Thanks I feel like you nailed exactly what I’ve been doing.

Totally agree, it’s easy to beat yourself up over a “missed” surface fish but they miss as much as we do. Especially through the mat.

Good video. Just really got back into fishing in May and fished frogs for first time this year. Nothing better than frog fishing. Hook up ratio is about 80 percent for me but that was teaching myself to feel that tension. Still working on it. Working on skipping right now witch is key when getting under cover where they are pressed up against that shade and and bank. Saw a juicy spot under a lot of heavy tree cover that could only get back there by skipping. Third try got a good skip close to shore under a shit load of cover and ripped out a 4 1/2 pounder. That’s when I told myself I need to focus more on learning to skip and accuracy. You know what your doing. Look forward to your vids. Thank you. Got to go practice that skipping.

I've spent countless amounts on different frogs over the years and they all sucked. Or so I thought. This video and technique had me hooking up over 95% of the fish that hit my frog. Thanks for the vid!

Nice video. Question. In setting the hook, do you push the bottom of the rod against your chess or do you just use your hands to make all that pressure?

Big Mike Fishing Chronicles I have a question I am a little bit lost I hear some people say they fish jigs with braid and I hear some that they use fluorocarbon but then I hear people say that they use fluorocarbon because the fish can not see it but that is not true because I have fished fluorocarbon and I have seen the but gill bitting at the line so in my mind if the bluegill see it then the bass do too can you please shed some light on this, please
@InformativeFisherman
@InformativeFisherman 3 года назад
They can’t see it as well, as far as braid if I can’t see deeper than 2’ I’ve never had an issue using straight braid. If I can see beyond that I’ve just caught way more fish using fluorocarbon

i have never been able to skip a top water frog, after countless tries. is having a DC reel gonna make a difference? I have the base shimano SLX. i can skip a senko on a spinning reel (not like a pro but i can do it) but somehow trying to with a frog is just no go.
@InformativeFisherman
@InformativeFisherman 3 года назад
Aim straight but low and roll cast fast, make light contact with the spool with your thumb the whole time. Keep the frog within a few inches of the tip of the rod
