It's a good question. My headcanon explanation was that the machine builders were wary of allowing their enforcers to be too sophisticated in case they somehow went rogue and escape the Matrix, like Smith and his attempts to escape the Matrix. It's unclear how "Strong in the Matrix" translates to "Strong in Real Life", but the Machines were willing to cut a deal to stop Smith, and Neo started manifesting powers IRL that were previously thought impossible.

Agents need limitations, both because doing to much impossible things may make random bystanders start to question reality and because otherwise they may go full Smith and mess up with the Matrix on purpose. Those limitations doesn't really need to make sense, as long as there are some... you, know? Like a lot of laws on the real world are just random limitations imposed into people to control them [unintelligible weed smoking noises]

I was gonna point that out. She just says "You know that I'm going to say" , Neo says "I'm not the one" and what she says later implies but never directly states that he is or isn't

@@Cesaryeyo What she says after is also a perfect prediction of the end of the movie. She said something like "You've got the gift, but you're waiting for something." And, when Neo asks what that is, she says "Who knows? Your next life maybe..." At the end of the movie Neo is killed my Smith, then resurrected, and then becomes the One. So he did become the One in his next life. The whole Oracle part of the movie was really well done, in my opinion.

@cracked I'm sure you got this note plenty about how she implies it but doesn't claim it to be true that he is not the one. Like many Oracle sayings they lead him towards thinking about whether or not something is true and why, rather than claiming the facts of the matter need to be trusted.

And, goes further to tell Thomas that he has what it takes, meaning he does have the recipe for success. Is supposed to signify the start of his inner struggling, after he's reconciled with truth of WHERE he is. Action movies trying to connect to feels is weird, and the movie doesn't show significant effects from this 'struggle', so is just bad part of the story. Good thing there was plenty of epic fight scenes, to distract everyone from the drama it obviously wasn't meant to be.

Never noticed before that Cypher needlessly sneezes when they’re in the wall, giving away their position. He’s an experienced member of the crew and so fully understood the façade of the matrix. The dust should shave barely registered beyond sight. Everything was happening so fast in that scene I never thought how weird it was that he did that.

I don't buy Cypher sneezing on purpose. He had to get back to the ship in order to betray his crew in the real world. If they got caught inside the Matrix he had no leverage and was as good as dead. What I *DO* buy is him shouting "It's an Agent" to double-down and panic everyone else once the jig was up. It works either way, tbf.

I love all of these so much! They all fall into three categories 1) I watched the entire series and I loved it and I really really want to see his take on them 2) I watched part of the series and decided not to watch the rest and I want to see his take on the ones I love and know what happened in the others 3) I never bothered with any of them and this is just pure fantastic entertainment that fuels me

I also like that it's never more aggressive than necessary for comedy. I honestly liked the sequels a lot, including Resurrections. And I normally hate hearing somebody badmouthing something I like, but I can enjoy this video because while it makes jokes about a lot, it very rarely calls it directly a bad thing. Like the amount of exposition and the absence of any subtlety. Yes, they are both extreme and glaring, so the jokes land. But I still like them, and can laugh at it without it meaning they're bad.

I love watching takes on movies that I love especially when they make jokes about parts of it that I either didn't notice where bad/dumb or hell that I noticed and it's really funny to see it pointed out I had to stop following some commentary channels because they were just mean about movies they didn't like and if they couldn't find a reason to not like it they picked on stupid things and that's not fun. It's fun to have all these jokes made and have it be light-hearted and enjoyable

yes, it's amazing how there's three concepts of 'watched them', 'watched some' and 'didn't watch any of them'.... that's like, all of the options for if you've watched them or not, lol. but yeah, i like some of these content creators summing up movies, it can potentially be a way to get the info from what could be a shitty movie you don't want to watch, but want to know the plot of (4 for me is in this category), or just a funny sort of recap that's entertaining with a touch of nostalgia.

So the reason agent's don't dodge punches like bullets is when a gun is fired in the matrix that gun and bullet are purely coded cause and effect and as such have a completely predictable path which is immediately annualized by the agents combat programming and dodged, whereas a punch (made faster by breaking ones limits within the matrix) is more unpredictable in angle and punch, especially the brand of martial art used by the stunt team which is notoriously hard to predict. So the agents still move the same speed but can't predict then dodge in the same manner. Convoluted? Yes. Awesome? Also yes lol

While I understand it is a simple plot hole that doesn't actually effect the movie. But I feel like your reply doesn't really make sense. The part about the bullet being code yes the part about the punches not being not so much. Since as soon as any of the people enter the matrix they become code. This is why everyone always dies when they try to fight an agent. I think it is different for Neo because he is "the one" and also kinda a program. Which allows him to work the same way as the agents

eh, wouldn't be that hard to explain the kh series. it just takes a while. there's a lot of them. and it's not a cohesive story, each title is basically asspulled at the time. people act like it's somehow hard to understand, it's not: it's vague as shit, terminology wise, and it's basically 13 different stories that are linked by themes. that's it.

I recently hosted a Matrix trilogy watch party...upon the 3rd movie ie someone showed up that never saw any of the films, and I had to explain /catch them up , while intoxicated. I absolutely love the original trilogy.and extended media (games +anime, comics) explaining the movies out loud makes it sound like your having a stroke while tripping on mushrooms..i feel you brother

To answer your question at 41:45, the gun she is using is a Beretta M9. That is a double action pistol. So yes, she could have fired it even without the hammer pulled. Plus, if she kept one in the chamber, it would be smarter to just pull the hammer back instead of racking the slide so you don't waste a round.

God I remember watching the original for the first time as a preteen and loving it despite understanding pretty much none of it. And then relived the experience watching the new movie and enjoying the hell out of it whilst not really 'getting it'. It's definitely the best of the sequels

When Jordaneo was explaining the "Swapping Bugs with Trinity" part of the heist plan, I swear my brain started to melt... I was actually getting angry that it wasn't making sense, and then he made me feel better & validated bc when I watched this in the theater, I was *completely unable* to wrap my head around that part of the plan and had to say "okay, sure, whatever" if I wanted to even have a chance at understanding the rest of the movie. Second half of Resurrections got real nonsensical real fast.

That oracle doesn’t say he’s not the one. Everyone gets this wrong. She says “sorry kid. You got the gift. But it seems you’re waiting for something.” Neo says “what?” And she say “I don’t know, your next life maybe.” She literally tells him that his is and what’s going to happen before he becomes the one.

"I think this scene is an example of why people are confused by the plot of this movie, but it's actually pretty simple: none of it matters". THANK YOU. There are a lot of scenes like that one in the franchise, scenes where the Wachowski like to throw fancy words to the audience in order to stretch the dialogue (and sound smart I guess) but, if you ignore all the hard words, the plot becomes shockingly simple (for what it originally sounds like anyway). The scene where Tank is introduced is another great example of it: Morpheus starts throwing a random incoherently complicated succession of words (including at least one double negation!!) but at the end the dialogue can be summed up to literally "do you trust me? - yes". The ability of the writers to create mumbo-jumbo is honestly amazing.

The reason for not creating a medieval matrix is that such a society could not support billions of people required to power the Matrix. The risks of having a technological society are outweighed by the electrical power consumption demanded by such an entity. BTW, I enjoyed your synopsis so much, I watched it twice. Good job! :-)

I noticed the exit that Tank directed Neo at the end of the first movie is the same apartment that trinity was in at the beginning. That why I think that the shot of Smith looking around while the other agents chase neo up the fire escape happened. It was Agent Smith recognising where they were. Thats how he was in the apartment to shoot neo. Smith knew were the hard-line phone was going to be.

I used to read Cracked articles many many years ago but I never thought to look for a youtube channel. You guys put out some serious quality content and got the personality and humor in these long videos. Major props for all the hard work you all do. I feel like you deserve waaay more subs. The answer is, it's not. Back in the day, CGI was terrible so it was used in a very limited fashion. Check which scenes are full CGI in the original movie, very few. Sadly, directors and producers realized they can "create" anything with CGI for cheap and went that route so now everything is CGI. Current CGI is better than 1999 CGI but even our best CGI is worse than making it practical, which was the usual back in the day.

The crew in Matrix Resurrections is literally the cast of Sense8, and there is actually a completely bonkers amount of Sense8-related Easter Eggs in the film to the point where you wonder if part of it is Lana being like "Oh, so you cancel my new passion project but want my old stuff back? Well now I'm turning the latter into the former. F you." And honestly that kind of rules.

@@TP3200 I think I understand for the most part why directors will often include the action, the problem lies in the fact that anyone with even a little knowledge of firearms will notice this stuff. So the director is faced with a impasse: have your character do something stupid (if not at least unimportant), but it serves the tension of the scene or have your character do nothing with their hands and hope the tension doesn't die.

I legit can't get enough of this series. Lol the cracked series I mean. I really wasn't much of a fan of the first 3 films in the matrix series, other than the metaphor the creators were saying through them and the fun bit of philosophical questioning of what if life is a just a simulation. However once I found a channel that dove deeeeeeep into the full lore and history of the matrix films, animations, games, etc., that aspect I fucking love to death and really made me a fan and made the newest film easily my favorite in the series. So good. B

41:51 - her pistol will automatically move the hammer, but by cocking it, it makes it that much quicker and harder to dodge... watch some gun disarming videos to better understand.

Thank you. Yes, double action pistols can fire in either position, but can do so much more easily if the hammer is already cocked (which is normally done each time a shot is fired by the slide moving backwards afterwards).

Loved the breakdown video absolutely the fourth movie. How do you have cgi and fighting that looks worse than it did 20 years ago. I mean just the fake Trinity fight in the beginning was like "wait I watched this 20 years ago and it just looked so much better from choreography to cgi how did they mess this up"🤦‍♂️

By the time we got to the animatrix, my stomach was hurting from trying not to laugh so much. By the time we got to resurrections, I woke up my kids from laughing so loud at the dumbest things that probably arent that funny but made me laugh out loud, and thats really hard to do with me lol. Talking about the analyst and saying that he was the therapist had me laughing so unexpectedly and suddenly that I choked on my own saliva. Oh man. What are these movies lol. I liked the first two but then by the third I was just like okay well I mean, I may as well finish it since I started it 😂
