I just gotta say - the age diversity in that classroom is the MOST realistic Hollywood classroom I have ever seen. It is WILD the difference in age-appearance in teens. I teach and I have 8th graders that look like they should be applying for grad school while sitting right next to them will be a high-pitched squeaker who looks like he should be doing the intermission scenes on Arthur.

I had a buddy in 8th grade that had a full on beard and was like 6'2. We would give him money to buy us cigarettes because he never got carded. Everybody thought I was in 5th grade at the time but I was literally the same age as my buddy. Genetics be wild as hell.

Fun fact: Back when Wes Craven (creator of Nightmare on Elm Street) was only 11 years old, he was bullied by a schoolmate named Fred Krueger. This childhood event influenced the name of the character and stuck around for the longest time, though it was subtly changed to "Freddy" instead of "Fred."

I thought the bully was named Fred, but not Krueger. At the very least, Wes definitely indicated another reason for the name choice. He said in interviews that Krueger was an extension of Krug, the main antagonist of his first ever horror film, The Last House on The Left...I suppose it could be both.

It's going to be really weird, since a lot of the Jason movies take place in what was the the distant future. Jason Goes To Hell for instance, which was released in the early 90s, is said to take place in 2003. Even though everything about the film *scream* early nineties.

Well that’s what I mean. The special drug in the movie isn’t necessary when you could just use antidepressants 😂 Alcohol does too, but apparently when you stop it makes the dreams worse, and for some reason it doesn’t work in Freddy vs. Jason 🤔

This kind of thematically makes perfect sense though, because all of the adults in Springwood are doing everything to repress the memory of Freddy's crimes and his very existence. Nancy's mom is even seen as suffering from alcoholism to forget about it. That's the very antithesis of good therapy, so it would make sense that they wouldn't think to ever take antidepressants.

Heather Langenkamp (Nancy) is a highly underrated "scream queen". I hated the ending to the otherwise fun Elm Street 3, because the plot made Nancy suddenly become a moron just so Freddy could kill her. They could have killed her off without doing it in a way that was so antithetical to her character. New Nightmare kind of gave her her redemption (yeah, it's "the real world" Heather, but it still works). Also, New Nightmare was great, and it was Craven doing the meta commentary thing before Scream.

As an adult, this series is hilarious. As a kid, I was absolutely terrified because I was, and still am, a very heavy sleeper lol. Now the only scene that still terrifies me, is the sleepwalking kid. It's the jerky movements and the panic on his face that does me in.

Fun fact: Freddy VS Jason ended up being continued in a comic series that for some reason dragged Ash Williams and the Necronomicon from Evil Dead into the fight. Annnd Jason makes a deal with Ash. Ash would help him beat Freddy, in exchange, Jason would take the Necronomicon back to hell with him and use it to make himself intelligent. As if you thought this franchise couldn't get dumber.

It was when Glenn got dragged in the bed. I was seven. I also could not sleep unless someone was in the room with me. I’m 42 and I STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM! I can now go 2 sleep after I watch his movie but I have 2 be on some kind of anti depressant.

Definitely wish I was as fortunate as all these kids today that watch it and make fun of the cheesy effects and music. Back in the day this was all we knew/had and it felt VERY real.

I would love to see a Nightmare movie with a protagonist who actually has lucid dreams instead of the weird dream powers and dream master and that stuff. I have lucid dreams (read about them in middle school and spent a few years figuring out how to do it myself), and let me tell you, they get wild. For me at least, it's less like having complete control over the dream and more like a weird open world sandbox video game that throws the most random shit at you that you have to counter with equally weird shit that makes sense at the time, and then when you wake up the parts you remember leave you questioning your sanity. Almost makes me wish Freddy was real and trying to kill me bc I would love to see how my weird, half coherent rambling dreams would hold up against him.

I loved the Freddy’s Nightmares show. It was hilariously bad. It’s where I remember first seeing John Cameron Mitchel, Lori Petty, and Brad Pitt. My favorite episodes were the two cannibal ones starring Wally Cleaver (the Beav’s big brother) and Valeria from Conan the Barbarian (I want to breathe my last breath into you)

The best episodes were the ones where Freddy is involved in the story. I liked the format. You had one episodes, but had two stories tethered in some way to the other (sometimes very thinly) and some episodes even had sequels. An observant viewer will even notice that some guest stars would go on to star or had starred in a _Nightmare on Elm Street_ or _Friday the 13th_ film. I also love the episode where a man on the radio states "Another Springwood high school coed has died mysteriously in her sleep. Baffled police report they have no suspects. Springwood's economic picture is improving. In particular, the third mortuary in as many months has opened its doors." This follows a report that "no indictments will be handed out in the fiery death of child murderer Freddy Krueger. Springwood should rest easier tonight. That's the last we'll hear about... that guy."

Thank you for taking on _Freddy's Nightmares._ So many channels that cover the franchise in some way just skip it. But the series isn't really canonical to the films due to some obvious differences in continuity. But there was an episode where Freddy is explicitly referred to as a child molester.

Okay, so I think after all of these, it's time they made canon that a heretofore unmentioned Freddy power is the ability to make people fall asleep. I mean, it'd explain why no one can stay conscious for an extra half hour. Keep it limited to one or two people at a time, so it isn't an auto-victory, but it would explain about 90% of the people dropping off when they damn well shouldn't. Hell, with the official backstory, say that he would drug the kids (slip a sedative into candy or milk or something) before assaulting them, and thus this is part of his M.O.

I know that I'm years late, but I'm rewatching Jordan's film series reviews and have just remembered. In The Final Nightmare, the film was originally released in old style 3d and when she puts the glasses on (at 1:28:30 ) the audience were supposed to as well. Which is part of the reason that the flying Freddie headed worms were such bad quality.

Man, I make like eight minute videos and find it exhausting. I LOVE watching these videos, and tend to keep them on a lot of the time in the background after concentrating on them at the first time but sometimes I feel exhausted for you just imagining the filming and editing of these. Serious kudos... How do you stay so high energy and funny the whole time, even with considerable writing talent?
