By the way they played I'd have thought it's full of former Husker coaches, namely Scott Frost's staff. Turnovers, running the same plays that don't work, playing from behind, bad special teams play, poor tackling, no penetration on defense, poor blocking on offense, etc.
As a European it’s always nice to see the US get beaten at their at their own game because of the much needed attention it generates for American Football in Europe. American Football needs more attention internationally. Great video as always 👍🏻
This a tricky situation. If the US sends an elite high school like IMG and they mop up the competition did that help grow the sport internationally? I hate losing and find it frankly embarrassing but for the longer term health and support for the game internationally it might be best if the US sent substandard players just so it feels like the other countries have a chance to compete.
@@fabiantaveras8458I feel the same but honestly that’s true, if this grows internationally it’ll be good for the sport. Would be kind of weird if we began to draft international players a ton like the nba though, so to a certain extent I don’t.
I am of two minds on this matter. 1. It is good that the foreigners are finally getting into football and playing it with dedication and grit. I was really impressed with the Austrians in their game against Canada. If the foreigners win some games, that means they will begin to fund and support it more. And it will lead to better players and games. 2. I am an American, and Americans shall not, will not tolerate this a bunch of boys losing at our own game to anyone, especially the goddamn Canadians being 3x back champions.
Guten Tag, I'm glad IFAF is getting recognition here in my country. This is probably the best moment of my life as an American Football fan in the USA, the rest of the world can finally compete against the United States. Vielen Dank, Österreich. FOOTBALL WIRD INTERNATIONAL! 🇦🇹❤
Nah, don't sleep on Austria, they're one of the better footballing countries in Europe besides Germany and have one of the better youth football academies in Europe
This will be a net positive for Football. Inerst will grow internationally and the USA had better come back looking for revenge next time with a better team and better staff.
Ok. So I looked it up. The team was only together from June 14-19 before the tournament. So yea, they hand 5 days and a handful of practices likely to get ready. That really isn’t enough to do any coaching or implement anything besides the most basic of plays. And means the guys hadn’t really even played together before. So imagine being a QB throwing to guys you have barely seen run a few routes, don’t know their strengths and weaknesses, etc. Also, aside from being together for 5 days, it looks like players need to pay to play basically. There is talk of membership and participation fees as well as logistical costs. They also needed to know about this and submit an application with video and stuff to be looked at for the team. So I’m not really knocking any of the guys for this, really. It looked like a group of guys from D3 and NAIA who had never played together, weren’t coached as a team, and who were just looking to get not injured….and that’s because that’s exactly what it was. Hopefully the guys didn’t have to pay their own airfare! But in general, pretty disappointing at the lack of effort and money behind this from the US. It doesn’t bode well for the tournament as a whole since the US is obviously the driver behind these tournaments and if our own team is barely even that, it doesn’t bode well for the effort and money put into the tourney as well. If we are looking to help spread the sport internationally, we gotta at least have a team that is actually a team. It doesn’t need to be the best players or anything, just with enough time together and with coaches to attempt some exciting play. I say keep beating the crap out of us until we do Japan and Austria, and congrats.
No excuses for getting embarrassed at your own sport. The American flag and uniforms still mean something. America should never ever under any circumstances get embarrassed at football, basketball or baseball. And this coming from a non American.
@@jediknight5600 american exceptionalism has long been dead, my friend. obviously we have the best players, but many athletes feel that there is no pride in playing just for your country. this is just the world baseball classic argument all over again.
Setting aside the put-on of jingoistic blubbering, this corroborates what was apparent in the game against Japan. The U.S. side is a hastily-assembled squad of D-III and NAIA underclassmen that have spent almost no time playing together, or working with their coaches. In contrast, the teams representing the likes of Japan and Austria likely are composed of most of a country’s best players in that age group, have actually provided for a greater period of time for team preparation, and benefit from reasonably well-established organizations of American football within each country. It shouldn’t be a surprise that those teams are competitive with U.S. teams cobbled together from small-college players. We’re certainly long past the time when just about any group of American college players could expect to stroll onto the field and whip a team from anywhere else in the world. I’m not particularly bothered that any other nation manages to beat a squad representing the U.S. - it’s probably good for the growth of the sport’s global appeal - but respect for the game should demand that USA Football (the U.S.’s member of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), and the internationally-recognized governing body for American football in the U.S.) find some way to provide U.S. national teams more time to train together, and work with their coaches. By the way, Canada won the championship of this IFAF U-20 tournament, beating Japan 20-9.
Damn, I'm just angry about how that team went out twice. No effort to execute on D and in the trenches. Coaches allowed them to betray the values of the game itself, including confusing excitement for actual effort. This tape can crush a kids chances to play at the next level
Everyone’s talking about how the US isn’t sending their best as if any other country is sending their best athletes to play AMERICAN FOOTBALL, Austria has 20 sports more popular than American Football
It's almost like the US doesn't expect other countries to have intelligent, strong, capable men. We got are asses handed to us. Congrats Austria, played a great game. Got close at the end there.
AUS quarterback had enough time in the pocket to read the book War and Peace, write a term paper, and give a speech at the United Nations before throwing passes.

@The_Movie_Ribbit The American flag, anthem, and uniforms carry weight. Those on the field are representing the country in an international tournament. In football, no less. You don't need pros to whoop everyone's ass. Im sure you can put together a team of college players who will never make the NFL and win easily. It just needs to be taken seriously, because you know everyone will have a target on your back because of who you are. Like I said, no excuses. You put on an American uniform in an international tournament, then you better represent properly. Or don't even enter. That goes for the coaching staff too by the way. Unacceptable.

@@OSU2010 I totally agree with you there. Even still though, people are acting shocked that even our scrubs would lose. Outside of Canada, Japan is probably the second biggest fans of American football.
I have a feeling next year there are going to be some legit players interested in going and it will be a much different outlook. Oh the the freshman that is a backup for a Power 5 team? Yeah he wants in. Stacked offensive line etc etc. I think overall internationally this was the best thing to happen to American Football. I knew about this tournament years ago, and players would reject it unless they had no offers (generally speaking.) and wanted to get noticed. Now it is going to be a totally different story. This will be the last time we send a subpar roster I think.
Are these guys all D-3 and NAIA players? I’ll likely have to look it up, but that was pretty terrible. Actually the coaching might have been worse. Though, to be fair, maybe these guys only practiced a few times together? I know we don’t want to blow everyone out and make it no fun, but something like the WBC is a great product on the field.

Cover some of the upcoming women’s tackle football content! This summer the WFA International Team United will go to Mexico and Amsterdam to compete! And the WFA’s national championship is coming up less than a month away!
There are some decent American football teams in Europe. The German League is quite entertaining and last I looked, there was a Europeanwide football league too. Yes, these teams usually have a number of American players at key positions but the home grown talent is really good. I live in Japan and knew there were a few colleges that play the sport but I never saw it on TV. There was a football scandal in the national news where a football player intentionally late-hit a quarterback, sending him to the hospital. Apparently his coach instructed him to do so. The football program at that Japanese college was discontinued as a result. But apparently American football is still alive in Japan and producing some good players.
I think all the negative press should give an incentive for the USA team to start taking the team more seriously. They could at minimum send either a prep school like IMG or a good juco like east Mississippi or Hutchinson.
and i dont want to make it worse, but austria was missing their two starting ilbs AND were handicapped by a complete and utter inability to punt, which lost them their semifinal singlehandedly
We've just got to get embarrassed by Italy, German, and the Ottoman Empire and we can proudly say we lost to all the enemy combatant of BOTH World Wars. When's the next international football contest thing happening???
@@andriod8014 We shouldn't have to have our best to beat the rest of the world, our kids have been playing this game for years, we should be able to throw a middle school in there and be able to compete... Basketball is already on the ropes, the best are no longer American...
@@Guknowit Well that doesn't mean they are the best. How do we know if those football players aren't the best in the country? Especally Austria with a small pop. They can easily dominate any D3 team, if they were competing aganist a D1 won, then we would've won.
@@Guknowit Disagree about basketball, Luka is probably the best player in the league and Jokic is up there too, Victor is also a future stud but most players are still American.
@@clonecommandermike332 I understand that, but the NBA is about 20% foreign players now and is rising rapidly. Compare that to a decade or two ago and we were nowhere near that. The US has the most state of the art sports tech and training as well as a larger population of basketball interest than the rest of the world combined, yet we're not shelling out as much Star power and those projected are busts or lackluster. We're a few superstar retirements away from the league being run by foreigners.. Disagree with me or not, we have a culture issue here in the states and it affects our younger athletes more than you realize, but you'll see crystal clear a decade. 😂
Well Mike Kelly is a division 3 college coach and he ain't that good here at home any way last year Blufton U went 2 wins and 8 losses last year. Also the roster doesn't have but 2 good mid tier high school to college recruits 1 is a 3 star the other a 4 star and that's about it when it comes to talent.
Some interesting things Europe and Asia started to take seriously the game, what's good for sport. I hope that in future it can be seen something similar in adult championship 2. USA should accept thatthey don't dominate in U20 level and send better rosters. Not getting a medal is very bad for the sport
We’re becoming Vought America all glitz and glamour and running our mouths about what washed up player deserves the most money while setting the next generation of players up for failure.

You just watched a video of it happening. Them playing and losing to our stars doesn't prove anything. It's like saying pro German soccer players would crush a high school team. We have zero reason to be losing these games even without stars. We should be able to put high schoolers from Texas and Florida and win this championship with our eyes closed since we have that big of a head start with talent and coaching.
@@123person31I’ve seen many high school players from Texas and Florida who are a lot better than these scrubs, these people couldn’t even start at a semi-decent school in Texas
Wait... we lost to Austria? That's insane. But on the other hand, I love the fact that talent is showing up around the world in our version of Football.
Why send our actually good athletes to compete in a meaningless tournament to possibly get hurt when they could be spending time getting better in college to make more money in the NFL
There are a bunch of high school teams that would love the opportunity to represent America in this tournament, before they go off to college. Just need someone to pay for it. There are enough fans in Texas alone to raise money to send one of our powerhouse teams to this tournament. Just need the leaders to get their heads out of their ass.
Like I said before, these guys are just a sacrifice. They’re the team that came before the dream team and for those who are complaining, I bet 99.9% can’t name 1 member off that ‘88 team nor would you care to. Though I’d also bet 99.9% of you can remember exactly what happened in ’92 born or unborn. Whether this was a conscience decision or not, if great players are inspired by this then the outcome will be the same. But if you honestly think about it, doesn’t it make way more sense to let these other countries get their hopes up so that their kids will want to play and the adults will want to watch… It sucks but sometimes you have to sacrifice for the greater good. That’s business. Now hopefully it’ll turn out to be good business. And just like in ‘88, no one will remember this team. But everyone will remember the next one though. Stay positive. God Bless 🇺🇸

This is a bunch of nonsense. 27 yrs ago I played division 3 football. I also coaches for 15 yrs at the division 3 ranks. I don't wanna hear that we sent d3 players out there and they weren't good enough. There is a massive wealth of talent in the d2 , d3, and NAIA level of football. The play calling was awful in this tournament. These players were poorly prepared coming into this.
I know this isnt NFL but i would love to see the game go international. in the OFF season there are some international games where team USA would have Patrick Mahomes, Justin Jefferson and Mark Andrews. Bear in mind no other team would win. but the NFL has hit its peak Domestically it needs to go international and make the global.
These dudes are nobodies. It’s not like we are sending our D1 stars or NFL players. We would win 200 - 0 if that happened. Remember what happened last time we sent our best in basketball?
@@pentapox9665 D1 stars then. It would be a wrap. LSU could role in there and wax any team with just their freshman and sophomores. If you disagree, you don’t know football.
@@j.brendenstookey3437 Once again, it is a u20 event, which means that pretty much only freshmen would be eligible. Now tell me, why would a top recruit want to play in this game? It is a minor event, they don't get paid, and if they get injured it might wreck their chances of going pro. It's not like it's the Olympics. There is no prestige here/
Where do they get the players from? Because obviously you aren’t getting college players or pro players so this the in between people who weren’t good enough for the league?
But this is the Under 20 year old people. U20. So they are good but not that good because many major colleges/ universities will not let their players go play somewhere else and risk injuries.
These countries are sending out their best football players. While the United States literally sending the bottom feeders D3 schools don't want. No one who has any chance off making it to the NFL, USFL, Canadian league, and college players would be stupid enough to risk losing everything playing this meaningless game
@@extragoogleaccount6061in fairness baseball is a lot more of an even playing field these days as it’s become by far the most popular international sport of the major American sports. Football on the other hand is one that by design we are supposed to dominate since it’s really existed almost entirely here until very recently. Why they chose to send out this joke roster of like community college players to the international stage is beyond me.
I would say the reason USA keeps losing. Is because none of the players are nfl level players. Not even college stars. Its literally high school level players 😂
The issue is that our country only takes these tournaments seriously once our teams lose. Aside from the US not sending better players and coaches, the team was also probably made last second, giving the players no time to properly practice and study. Also, we only sent a roster of like 33 players where every other country sent out 45 man rosters out. The other countries aren't necessarily better. They are catching up, but I'd say they're more prepared than the American team.
The whole United States has become soft. You can’t touch anyone playing basketball and you can’t even play defense properly, nor do Americans tackle proper anymore. American sports have become so soft that I’m not surprised that we lose at all the major sports that we should be dominating in. America is soft and full of complainers rather than accomplishing. Plus the money the bums get make it even more pathetic. America is soft and will lose each spot in sports and in the real world unless people toughen up but it’s not going to happen sadly.
The team is made up of D3 players since most D2, D1, FBS, etc won’t send their players out there and they don’t wanna risk injuries that could derail a career that hasn’t started.
There are a bunch of high school teams in TX that would love the opportunity to represent the US. Send the entire team and their coaches. Ask fans in TX to donate to fund it. High schools in Texas that would destroy everybody in this tournament easily: Desoto Duncanville South Oak Cliff Austin Westlake Galena Park Northshore Lufkin Longview The Woodlands There are schools in CA, GA, LA & FL that would do the same. I’m only talking about public schools in Texas.
I didnt even know this existed until now. Yeah talent wise the U.S. shouldn't be losing. Japan and Austria outplayed and outcoached them. Congrats to them. Better send Ohio St or Georgia to play next time 😂
First, losing a game is not an embarrassment. Second, the fact that strong players and teams are found around the world is a sign of health for the sport. This should make fans happy.
Are any Americans watching this? There is no way in hell those are even average US D-1 scholarship players. Hell they don’t even look like they go to a D-II or D-III college.
