yeah the characters all act like season 1 was the original timeline (because for Barry that was HIS original timeline) like as time travel starts becoming a thing they're worried about creating a brand new timeline BUT they already know and seem to overlook that they're living in an alternate timeline, that Eobard killing Nora was something that didn't happen originally and was him acting out because he didn't get child Barry

Time travel in LOT is different. The changes they cause dont really affect the characters themselves, since they're outside the time stream.

It's....... It's certainly a bit odd. It definitely has a lot of issues tbh.

@@Ana-rf5cu but they are effected by the changes in the timeline even when there in the time stream, one of the problem around season 3 episode a character fades out of existence because something bad happened to them in the past, there also other times they lose other things because of a problem in the timeline. But then again there are other times when that doesn't happen. it's almost like LOT time travel has no consistency in the show all about time travel.

Well he does both in the same timeline. When Thawne originally got stuck in the past during season 1, he kills Wells because he needs to replace him to speed up the development of the Particle Accelerator. So it's not really another offshoot timeline, it's just season 1.

@@that1nerd756 But there's a timeline that exists prior to season 1, making the season 1 timeline itself an offshoot from another timeline we never see. One which has its own time travel shenanigans because Barry would have to travel through time to meet Thawne.

I thought you were saying that there should be another branch in the season 1 timeline. One when Thawne kills Barry's mom and another when he kills Wells and sets off the explosion early.

I remember an interview with one of the writers around season 3, and he said they were driving themselves crazy in the writers room trying to figure out rules from time travel and how to keep things consistent and he said they had a major breakthrough when they realized it was all made up anyway and they could just create the rules as they go. And he said this as if it was a good thing. I knew at that point that the time travel would never be anything close to consistent

Well, "past" and "future" are matters of perspective. Even if Barry travels to the Future, that still creates a "Flashpoint" of some sort for the people in the future, including Nora herself.

Apparently Superman doesn't take place in the Arrowverse, or Earth Prime, but on a similar earth but without all the heroes of Earth Prime that's why they are never referenced in the show. It's still dumb thoughbecause technically there is still a multiverse, but I guess they're closed off from the Arrowverse. I dunno.

The arrowverse has no consistency when it comes to the effect that other shows and crossovers have on each other

​ @G.I. Gio ironically legends of tomorrow is my favourite by owning up to its wacky nonsense and wearing its craziness openly. I can't remember which show it was for but one of the producers i think admitted there wasn't really much communication between the shows to know much of what the post crisis version of for the previous seasons of each shows then looked like. it was just "well if you want to reuse an old villain then you can change it to whatever you want it to be now". as for inconsistencies, i think between the flash (even within itself) and legends of tomorrow, i'm sure they've used time remnant usually to refer to the past self that is now on a different path but a few times they've called the version that travelled back in time as the time remnant. like in the second season finale of LoT the future versions of the legends i think are referred to as remnants at one point when it should be their past selves. that might be me either mishearing or misremembering it. One side note that also about "trouble with timelines and stuff" is that they had it be because Harry and Jessie were on Earth 2 they weren't affected by Flashpoint and when they returned in season 3 they were able to see that there were changes. suggesting there's a rule that if you're on another earth then you're free to remember your timeline and be unaffected. which feels like it should have some implications. but its just an asspull to say "er yeah post flashpoint they're still ok as we don't wanna deal with what differences they might have gone through". its brought up by them not knowing the "new time lab" or whatever it was that wasn't there pre-flashpoint. surely it would have been fine to have them recognise it from their experience in the rewrote version of season 2 but ok. anyway, kinda rambled a bit there but great videos and look forward to your one talking more about season 8 and all others you make :D

I’m just confused, since the Negative Speed Force was something Thawne made to combat the actual Speed Force that Barry had. So how would the Negative Speed Force be there since the beginning of time if it was made as a sorta rip off the the og Speed Force

i thought they went with "Jay and Joan transferred over to earth-prime they were remade as separate people and no longer alternate doppelgangers of Henry and Nora"? that still doesn't cover the other issues of them growing up on the same earth and having the same face as Barry's parents but yeah officially i'm pretty sure its that post crisis and the newly formed earth-prime included having it be "these people are universally recognised as earth-prime Jay and Joan, not earth 3(?) Henry and Nora". However, that doesn't fully cover it as there's the question of Jay's appearance on Stargirl. According to the actor its supposed to be the same version of Jay which would suggest that post crisis he's from THAT Earth and then at some point in the last decade ish moved to Earth Prime
