If the metaverse is about decentralization, why are some companies like Meta taking the front-row in its development? Looks like no matter how we try, this will still be centralized because in the end, some big companies that spearheaded its development can come up and say they want the central power. My thoughts...

Mainstream headsets just aren't quite there yet. Powerful yes, but cheap, comfortable and user friendly, they have a ways to go. I can only play on my Oculus Quest 2 for about an hour before it becomes quite uncomfortable and hot. Once they are as convenient as putting on a pair of glasses, they will be mainstream. We are in the "brick cell phone" phase of VR.

There's just not enough bandwidth and client side processing power yet for this to be worth doing. We literally need new internet and VR technology before this can be any good.

I'll stay in the real world or what I perceive as the real world. I personally think we need to learn how to grow and become who we want to be in reality before we let tech take reality and turn it into fantasy before we are no more.

Keep it. We don't need this prison for the mind. "Hey guys this is the future! Yes it digitizes your actions, thoughts, and beliefs with a central hub that just happens to give us complete control and insight into but that is besides the point."

The problem is less so the idea of the Metaverse as it is the company behind it. People simply don't trust Zuck or Meta/Facebook in any way shape or form and want to try and distance themselves as much as possible from the company's ventures as possible.

Metaverse existed since the first multiplayer Video Games were born.

I'm in the metaverse right now called Elden Rings. The oldest metaverse I ever experienced was the gane WOW. My point is, this isn't new. Virtual worlds with avatars... that's an MMORPG. Next.

it would be easy to have a transfer character system if: Every game or metaverse would utilize the same basic character rules, and have an integration system for their metaverse. So when we first create our metaverse character, if we jump into a game but the games graphics are comic book style, it just takes the rules we made about our character (hair, clothes, tattoos, jewelry) and integrate it into their game so we look the same, only just slightly different to fit the style of game.

My prediction: Meta verse will never be our future. An anti electronic revolution is coming. The better and more all consuming tech gets the more stressed out we get. I see people moving away from it. I certainly am.

The metaverse seems to be the most unnecessary advancements ever brought.

I play both Fortnight and Elden Ring. In Fortnight I realized the potential for the vast environments in the side games for doing work, socializing and so on, but even though I'm impressed by Fortnight me and a lot of the older milenials dislike the intensly bright colors of Fortnight and after a while have to log off because of how cartoonish and bright it all is. In Elden Ring it's the opposite. Everything is very muted and discolored and that gets old too. I think if we can strike a balance and even have some environments that feel and look and are colored like their real counter parts people would be able to stand more time in the Metaverse. I also highly disslike the cartoony avatars that make me think of better versions of Wii characters or Fortnight characters and would prefer character creation that is more realistic and based on people's real images/videos and selfies but that can be edited a little to be more realistic or ideal since cameras distorn faces anyways. I also think to prevent bullying it's important to know the person I'm looking at is very similar to their real in life person so that people have less incentive to bully because it's their actual likeness, not just some avatar. For interaction and usability I'd like coffee shops with coffee shop music stations and Up Work type meeting rooms that feel less cramped with great views and blackboards for writing and typing on with functions and programs like Monday, Mind Maps, Canva, Calculators, Google Drive, Docs IRS freeds and more.

Metaverse = Internet + more Internet

Considering the whole “Second Life” concept was already attempted and failed probably a decade prior just tells us that people don’t really learn from history.

There needs to be a huge amazing game that if fully immersive and obsessive to get people into VR. It won't get the mainstream funding or the consistent user base until that game exists.

I wish the vast resources the major companies have that are trying to control the metaverse work on solving real problems while working on the future instead of pushing a work-in-progress version which still has a lot of glitches and problems. It’s tough - you need users to help shape which problems to solve, but if it’s unusable, then adoption will be slower. As the video mentioned, if a majority of people don’t have access, or are far from it, this will be very niche for those that do have access. I do understand how far cell phones have come, so it’s definitely possible, but struggle with the benefit of the metaverse and it’s applications. Making $ cannot be the only reason - if I’m going to spend money on clothing for my avatar, that’s nice, but that money could go towards real things. I don’t value the avatar over my real self. It’s interesting, but not compelling.

Being of age and how to manage the sequence of returns in those early periods is what seems quite scary in the current market. The market is never a loser in a twenty year cycle, but the 2000s decade scenario scares me and could really disrupt my retirement. How to explain "Meta" it is a "Parallel Universe" which we've created alongside our own. While it evolves, at first it seems to "Dreamland", or Never Neverland, the ultimate fantasy. the metaverse is not the next generation of internet. it‘s just the next generation of social media and gaming. most people use this term to describe everything in AR and VR. that‘s not right. I see the metaverse as virtual worlds to meet and play, not more. and meta will not be the leader. there will be a lot of competition. currently, meta has the biggest market share in vr hardware, but that will change
