Bad Future is not canon. As far as i know, the manual explains that Little Planet changes time periods constantly and randomly very often. In-Game, that mechanic was introduced as the Time Warps, but those aren't canon to the actual in-game story. So yeah, every time period is canon in Sonic CD, but the Good ending is the real ending
That's very interesting. I've never heard of that thing with the time periods changing on their own. I really got to read the Japanese manuals if the Genesis/Sega CD/32X, Saturn, & Dreamcast Sonic games; I bet there's good English translations of the manuals somewhere on the internet.
I don't know why sega is so secretive about R2 it's just an unfinished level it wouldn't harm them to release some screenshots of it a prototype containing the level must exist somewhere in their basements the level clearly existed at some point because its clearly seen in the ending cutscene so the animators had to have looked at it as source material for the end cutscene and the badniks seen in the cutscene match the sprites seen in this video
A while back (I'd say a little over over a year or two ago), Majin, seemingly trolling us once again, responded on his Twitter page about stumbling onto an old binder notebook on _Sonic CD_ in his house. Only God knows what uncut content and mysteries are in that binder.
I just realised how lonely classic sonic's worlds actually are especially sonic 1 and CD the only sentient beings we see are sonic, Amy, and Eggman in CD and only Sonic and Eggman in sonic 1 in Sonic CD its almost as if the whole place has been abandoned in a hurry maybe the inhabitants of little planet fled from eggman and his badniks as they were invading and chaining the planet
late to the party but : the whole point of Generation is that Eggman undid Sonic's victories, meaning he never fixed the bad future. it was resolved at the end of that game. Sonic 4 could be argued, but it doesn't mean Eggman couldn't have ruined the present again.
The bad future isn't canon even when you get the good ending like me. And before you ask the reason why it looks like the bad future is because it sets the tenses of fighting Metal. Also the reason why in generations there's the bad future is because eggman re-did all of sonic wins in the past (not dimension).
I love that all these years later, Majin Sonic still haunts the internet. This is a well-done iceberg video, here's hoping you do more content like this in the future!
I think the statue is the entrance and then the first act takes place inside and on the way to the center of the planet where the second act takes place because the 1 act looks like a corridor or a path
Actually the good future of SS is cannon, heres my explanation: Why is the bad future of Stardust Speedway in Sonic CD? Well, remember the time eater? Eggman manipullated it to undo all of sonic's victories, sonic saving the little planet being one of them. And thats why. While in Sonic Mania, Its possible that eggman came back to the proyect of conquering the little planet.
@@antiseize11 the fact that it is an anniversary celebration doesn’t make it non-cannon to the sonic timeline they are as cannon as any other sonic game
Recently in the beginning cutscene for Sonic CD of Sonic Origins, we see Amy is already there. This confirms the fact that Amy was from OR already lived in Little Planet at the time of Sonic’s arrival.
On the subject of "Special Stage 8": I find it coincidental that one of the dropped special stages from _Sonic CD_ had a mountain backdrop similar to the Paramount Pictures logo, and Paramount would go on to make _Sonic_ live-action movies, LOL. On the subject of "Collision Chaos's Ceiling Is Sonic's World": After looking at the Good Future background of Collision Chaos in the picture in this video right now, I just noticed that what appears to be the Good Future of Metallic Madness is in the background! I'd also like to think that the mountain nearby it is supposed to be the outside of Quartz Quadrant in the Good Future. On the subject of "Locations of the Zones": I'm not entirely sure, but I strongly believe that the mountains in the water in the Present version of Little Planet are supposed to be Tidal Tempest from the outside because, in the Good Future, Tidal Tempest has become an underwater greehouse, and there seems to be a greenhouse covered by a dome just slightly above what appears to be Wacky Workbench. On the subject of "Floating Green Plant": I honestly believe that that area of the Little Planet was intended to be the mysterious R2 because of the clue from the ending animation of Sonic advancing though a ruins-like area where he gets ambushed by a giant version of that Antilon but narrowily escapes getting killed by it. It looks like it could very well have been some ancient ruins suspended into the sky due to either scientific or supernatural reasons. On the subject of "Little Planet's Inhabitants": Besides the appearance of Metal Sonic, the _Sonic_ anime OVA from 1996 seemed to possibly borrow the time-travel aspect due to Sonic and Tails traveling to what appaears to be an abandoned, post-apocalyptic version of New York City in an undetermined future time, which Dr. Eggman has seemingly built his headquarters over. In my humble opinion, the same question can pretty much be asked for all the other classic, mainline Sonic games. Well, anyway, wonderful iceburg video. I've been interested in the lore and mysteries surrounding _Sonic CD_ for a long time.
The US past themes were never made because the past themes use the Mega Drive soundfont, and not the CD hardware, and so they are hard-coded into the game and it would have been much harder to make past tracks for the US version
For the longest time, people have been saying that it was Keiko Utoku, who sings "Toot Toot Sonic Warrior" and "Cosmic Enternity," as being the one that recorded Sonic's two voice samples in the game.
The "Sonic CD 409 Beta" is actually a hoax, and the "prototype" isn't real. It's fake and the real name is actually Dubious Depths / Ridicule Root. (confirmed by two developers of Sonic CD)
They say that in the early version of sonic cd there was an 8 stone that turned all monitors with rings into monitors that give 50 rings and give sonic something like a super form.
The reason why the bad future of stardust speedway is in sonic generations is because in that game eggman said he redid all his past mistakes meaning he probably turns little planet into the bad future again
I'd like to argue the bad future is canon logic. There were two ways to get the good ending, there were the machines you can destroy in the past or the time stones. It's very possible that after the fight with metal sonic, sonic could have got the last of the time stone in metallic madness. I don't exactly feel clever for this one I'd imagine other people have brought it up in the past and I also think the devs for sonic generations chose to go with the bad future more for its aesthetics than for any canon implication but that's just speculation. Kick ass video other wise man keep it up.
I don't think bad future is canon, in sonic generations, both sonics bring back space time by experiencing the past games and defeating the time eater, also, why would eggman need to conquer little planet in sonic 4 if he "already conquered" it
@@TheLetterS_Rebooted I was going to talk about this in one of my future videos (sense I said that in one of my 2 Sonic CD icebergs) but basically just keep in mind that both good and bad futures/endings are canon but I'll explain it later
All time zones are cannon, I think it was confirmed that time travel isn't cannon, the trick is that Little Planet's timeline is just messy and unatural, I mean, It's cronologicaly dissordered, in one moment it might be present day, and a few minutes later, the zone migh change into anothe time zone like past or good or bad future, just like that. That's what I got about a well knowned Spanish User named Ryuko Shion that has a lot of knoledge about Sonic's Universe.
@@venezemapping9920 past and present doesn't really count because the core of the game is the good AND bad future so to get the good future you had to time travel and to get the bad future you do nothing so only the good and bad future ARE important present isn't really that important and past well you can beat the game without going to the past so yeah
R2 appears in the Ending Animation. Bad Future isnt really cannon the cd manual explains why. The eggman building in stardust speedway is actually metallic Madness. Majin sonic isnt creppy like you think. Sonic should have his own form with the 8th time Stone so it could be like the doomsday zone (not fighting like doomsday) but you could fight it with the own time Stone form. Theres so many things i have to say and cant.
i don't think sonic should get a new form with the time stones tbh, it's kinda of stupid and already done. i think all the time stones should give sonic the ability to travel to any time zone without the need of signs, and this mechanic shouls be incorporated into the final boss
@@shubumanI have to disagree with this. We haven’t got a new sonic form in like a long time with super sonic being shown many times. I do kinda understand your point but controlling time and space is very powerful I mean with that logic super sonic shouldn’t even exist. It’s not stupid for him to not have a time stone form
I'm guessing the little planet's inhabitants do exists, but they silently acknoledge sonic in the good future, like the sonic monitor in quartz quadrant good future
adding to the 'the bad future is canon' section, in Sonic 4, you see what happens to metal sonic after the race on stardust speedway. and the cutscene is specifically in the bad future.
One flaw though, it’s safe to say nobody likes nor cares about Sonic 4 and it was never mentioned again by Sega themselves. It can easily be considered non canon at this point by fans.
Actually it does. It’s the part in Cosmic Eternity (the JP game credits song), where the lyrics say, “When you feel right, look at yourself”. Compare that to the main chorus of SS’s tracks and you’ll see.
@@jonathansolorzano1981Holy crap that’s true,I never realized that until I read your comment. Looks like SS really was meant to be the final level,I wonder what changed their minds,I doubt it was the lack of a final boss since the final one was pretty disappointing,or perhaps not being the original boss is why the final boss is so disappointing.
ADeuxLAN Is it present, good or bad future? Mazin present.
Eggman building in the stardust speedway final act is actually metallic Madness If im not wrong its written in the moustache in mania or cd i forgor. Just wish they kept the 8th time Stone for the final fever
7:18 this isnt true because in sonic origins in the first cutscene in sonic cd amy is on sonics planet, because you can see little planet in the background
8:28: That's not a floating plant, that's part of Wacky Workbench, and also the real location of Dobius Depths/R2 is right next to Quartz Quadrant, the island with three mountains and the palmtree
I am really interested in the Collision Chaos' text signs. The bad future and present time's characters inspired the vowel markings for my own language :-D, and the good future's script may inspire the handwriting.
I translated Mazin's Text. It didnt say anythinf about good future but only that the odd numbered stages were for speed and the even numbered stages were for techniques or gimmicks
"What even _is_ Wacky Workbench?" Well, I have a hunch it's a workbench, quite possibly of the wacky variety. "It's a factory, but what does it produce?" *W A C K Y*
Amy isn’t from Little Planet. In the japanese manual we are told that she used her tarot cards to know that Sonic would become a hero, so she followed him to Little Planet (she later was captured by Metal Sonic in Collision Chaos).
1:30 for that classic sonic perspective, generations started for him right after green hill act 1 but when he got out of generations he went there back. So simply he never get good ending in cd.
If the Stardust Speedway in Generations is canon then Crisis City is also canon. I believe that neither is canon and Sonic Generations takes place outside of canon, especially with the ending of the two Eggmen being trapped in a white void
Why Generations wouldn’t be canon? It’s litteraly part of the mainline Sonic games. The reason why we see SS bad future is because of how time works in Little Planet (in the manual it’s explained that time changes in a completely random way), and I theorize that Crisis City is in the game because the Time Eater has full control over time, so maybe he was able to bring back the deleted timeline. (Also, the fact that the two Eggman came back from the void is not surprising at all, just check all the final bosses in the games and you will see that Eggman should have died even in the first game).
It’s obvious that there is background civilizations in every Sonic game, besides S3&K, but Sega doesn’t show them. We know they’re there, and we all know they’re Mobians
we got the confirmation that amy is from sonic's world in sonic origins, amy can be seen predicting her future with tarrot cards when littel planet comes
I understand the thing about the bad future being canon, but I think it should be lower on the list (at least one level lower). I also do not agree with the theory purely based on the fact that later on in generations, Eggman mentions he used the time eater to not only erase time and space, but to undo all his failures. This implies he went back in time and put little planet back under his control during the events of generations.
I know this video is a bit old considering its 2 years ago but can you explain what "little planet is alive" in the iceberg image means because I interpreted it as the idea of little planet itself being alive which would be interesting and it would also be interesting to note that we only see one side of little planet in every depiction without an idea of whats on the other side
MM was already breaking opart in sonic CD and trumpet are not breaking in ss but it could mean notthing and also I have this theory that the egg man building was that before the mountain came.
I've never seen anyone actually call Alex Neri by his actual name here, nice job putting effort into the research compared to others. That's not meant to be a sarcastic jab at you, but at others.
Why does he kinda sound like a TTS voice? Like, no offense if this is you’re actual voice, but the way the lines are delivered, it just sounds like a TTS voice
The metal Sonic being a Sonic from the bad Future doesnt make Any sense in my opinion. Why? Because since Sonic CD messes with time traveling it would affect wherever sonic is. Bad Future good future doesnt matter meaning that either the bad Future sonic would affect all the timelines so the present Sonic wouldnt either exist or would just be metal Sonic.
bad future isnt canon the literal plot of generations was eggman went back in time and undid all of sonic victories the whole game is sonic trying to restore the original timeline where he won
I think you should have mentioned that some of the Zones in Sonic CD are different versions of the zones from the original Sonic the Hedgehog: Palmtree Panic: Green Hill Zone R2 (Possibly): Marble Zone Collison Chaos: Spring Yard Zone Tidal Tempest: Labyrinth Zone Quartz Quadrant: None Wacky Workbench: None Desert Dazzle: None Stardust Speedway: Star Light Zone Metallic Madness Zone: Scrap Brain Zone
the bad future isn’t canon. although stardust speedway bad future is canon, the bad future ending isn’t. sonic can still get all the timezones are the metal sonic boss resulting in a good ending.
