God I love this channel and channels like it. My dad owns an HVAC company, and I went to work with him quite a bit on service calls and jobs, both residential and commercial when I was a kid. My favorite was always residential, as I was fascinated with seeing how others lived, for some reason. This kinda content kinda scratches that itch for me

I would say, somebody definitely could and should fix this place, it's not beyond repair. The basic structure is still in good condition. Love seeing the basements and attic, it shows the way a house was built and how an old house like this is still standing. I'm surprised this place had usable attic space, considering how steep those stairs were.

The stain glass should be saved and maybe some of the furniture but I think it should be torn down. It also looked Luke it had a sump pump in the basement and the basement may flod sometimes.

Victorian homes were only built until 1901 when Queen Victoria died. Not sure what you would call it after that.

Hi Noah I think this place is too far gone to restore. If they were to restore they would have to gut out the whole house and start new. The price tag would probably be astronomical. It must have been nice when it was new. Really strange configurations of the rooms. Just demo it and start new. Thanks for sharing this with us Noah. Stay safe and well.

Hey Noah, another great explore. That place is too far gone to save unless you only keep the brick exterior wall and a few thing inside. Yes, you were correct about the washing machine. You could even see the old wringer at the top :) It would have been greater inside but they did a hiddeous job of renovating and sectionning. What a shame.

For the benefit of American viewers, the Victorian era was named after UK Queen Victoria who ruled from 20 June, 1837 to 22 January, 1901. Despite the presenter's ignorant assertions, this house was NOT built anywhere near let alone within the Victorian era. It was obviously constructed much later than the Victorian era.

I’m not sure that was ever a day care as the paint peeling off the way it is can be a sign of lead paint. I would think they would need to remove all of that before they could be certified as a day care. Looks like they may have rented to a bunch of students. Is there a college in that area? To maximize the rental income they often would make every room they could into a bedroom. They added a second bathroom in a portion of the kitchen to ease the burden on the one bathroom.

There are some construction materials that can be utilized, but once mold gets in the walls, the frame itself generally ends up being compromised with wood rot etc. Some good bricks, trim work, doors, plus more usable things to upcycle.

I think you're incorrect about the front door. They usually face the main staircase, and it looks like it was two bug doors and beyond that was the porch. Beyond the big doorway there the floor looks like porch wood and someone just added that front area on later.

Quite a strange house the crazy seemingly random way it was divided up. Some interesting features still left like some of the ceiling rosettes and the corbels near the archway. Would have loved to see its original state way back when. If someone had LOTS of money I think it would be worthwhile to restore. They just don’t build them like they used to. I would not have the guts to go down to those old basements especially alone. You should take a buddy. Thanks Noah for sharing this exploration. Keep safe.

Such a pity that this house that once was a majestic home was let go. So many period touches still there under all the very ugly redos. Yes, that was a wringer washer. You had to hand feed the clothes through the wringer part to squeeze the water out before rinsing. Now we have the spin cycle. I own a gas powered one like this that I use at our off grid cabin. Very cool.

I actually think this house would be really interesting and beautiful had it not been messed up by whoever lived there last. The outside is very unique. But the interior colors are horrible. I think if someone had the money to restore it to a proper home it would be very beautiful and worth putting the money into. I'm not crazy about basements either. Thanks for sharing something that I think is pretty rare and I still see beauty in despite the decay and disastrous renovating. Take care, stay safe & God Bless 🌺 Kat

Just a quick question to ask, not related to this house, but on other videos. You often mention time capsule homes. I’m from the UK and haven’t heard this term used. Does this relate to the style of home or how it’s built etc, I’m never to sure when I see this mentioned. With regards to this video, the owner sure did like there bold colours in some rooms. I have to say, this house I didn’t really like, usually I think it’s sad when you say they are going to be demolished, but this one I could see why you wouldn’t want to repair it. Just didn’t have as much character as some of the rest you have been around. Can’t wait for your next video

@genesisangel5657 Год назад
I am not Noah nor am I from Canada, but I can answer this if you like. A time capsule house that has remained virtually unchanged since it was first built and inhabited. So a house that still has the old furniture, old retro wallpaper, ancient shag carpet from the 70s, that sort of thing. As if everything in the house was locked inside a bubble and preserved in the era it was when it was last lived in. A "time capsule" reflecting how things looked back in that era. Noah might be able to answer this better though.
