Thank you for the tour, Holy Rosary was an integral part of my husband's and my life many years ago. He lived in the parish from age 6-19. He was an altar server and explored the church many times over those years, He said you missed a few things by not exploring the undercroft, also. Some of the terms used in the Catholic Church, are Vestibule, Baptismal, Rose window, Sacristy, (Holy Rosary had 2, one on both sides of the altar), Altar, Chapel, Undercroft, the bell tower was called a Campanile, a term for that style of tower, Stations of the Cross, Choir Loft, ( high up into the entrance of the church, ) I am sure that you spoke with the current owners and got some of your terminology current to their denomination. The walk in baptismal was added by them. They also removed the kneelers from the pews, as most non catholic churches do not have them. The pews were painted and re-covered. The "pictures" are called Stations of the Cross, and were carved depictions of the last hours of Christ's life. I am saddened by the disrepair of the church, but was more saddened when it had to be sold, originally, I took refuge in the fact that it would stay a house of worship and not be torn down. Again thanks for the video!

This one almost made me cry. A beautiful place where people went to for comfort and solace is not being used. I hope they get the funds to repair. Neighborhood's change. There may be a need for the space soon. I was praying the whole time you were walking through. The bell tower reminded me of the movie Vertigo. Good old movie. Thanks for sharing

Its very sad that the church is falling apart. I am a Catholic went to Catholic grade school and high school in Iowa. I would think they would move those pews out, they can be sold. Even thou things are covered its not really going to protect the wood and fabric of items. It sure was a beautiful church in its time. I was surprised that the stations of the cross were still on the walls. Very good find. Thank you ever so much.

The “three dimensional pictures” are the Stations of the Cross. There are 14 of them and they are the depiction of the crucifixion. What a beautiful church. The Chapel is also beautiful. I used to play organ for the Cathedral here and it has a huge ,enormous, wonderful pipe organ in the choir loft.

So glad you did this video, seeing the inside as I have been by numerous times on the outside. The Columbus Foundation is trying to save this place, and I'm happy for that. One reason why it went into decline is that the neighborhood was very Catholic with the Old Saint Anne's Hospital at Kelton Avenue and Bryden road, and Saint Vincent's Orphanage at Main Street and Kelton Avenue, and those workers moved away. Holy Rosary was combined with Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

The best course I took in college was a humanities course. we went on field trips to a slew of old churches in Cleveland. It was awesome. We went through them with a guy from the Cleveland archives and he told us the history of each church. How they came from the old country and how there was a pc of the saint the church was named after. Hidden capsules, who and what type of architecture it was. We also got an inside tour of the largest pipe organ left in Cleveland. That was cool. We had to go through a decompression chamber to enter the inside or bowels of the organ while someone was playing it for us. There is one church we toured that has a pulpit that defies all architectural rules. They actually do not know how it stands. It is absolutely beautiful. I guess or we were told it actually toured the US and Canada.

It's sad that so many of these beautiful Catholic churches are being shut down due to low attendance which in turn equates to low funding. These churches require a lot of $ to keep running. Since people rarely attend church anymore, these churches close and rot away. Ohio, especially Cleveland, had to closed several huge beautiful Catholic church in the past 5 years. In the early 1900s my Great Grandparents helped build St. Coleman Catholic Church in Cleveland. It's still open, but, barely. If you get a chance, go check it out,, before it closes. Its gorgeous.

The holy rosary all should be praying. If the world did, this world would be a completely more enjoyable and loving place. This church was hugh. Always saddens me to think a guardian angel for this church remains, alone (or maybe not), watching over it until the building goes away, or the guardian is called back home. The Rose window is stunning. Vibrant! Also, the '3 dimensional pictures' you noted are the 14 stations of the Christ. The ship image is tied in with the church (think Christ walking on water while the apostles were in the boat)... interesting history there. The arched doorways are gorgeous! Someone wealthy would pay good $ to have those in their homes (which is pathetically sad). I know at St Johns in Boise we use the main cathedral on Sundays, and at times during the week, there' a smaller chapel on the bottom level, which is gorgeous, more intimate. The church is still functional (going through reno now to move the altar closer to the tabernacle and add more seating as its needed).

This church hasn't been Catholic since at least the middle if not the early 80s. Since at least 1985 it was Rock Of Faith Baptist Church. I knew a lady who attended here. She lived only 2 or 3 blocks away from here. I went to a wedding here in the late 80s or early 90s. I had no idea Rock of Faith Baptist Church left this building. Rock of Faith had a small congregation so that may be why they left. Now I wonder if Rock of Faith still exists or did it permanently close down.

Sad that churches are closing due to the congregation going elsewhere. Saint Wendelon in Fostoria closed its school due to low attendance. Those pictures in the church are called the stations of the cross. If you look around the church you will see several pictures. Those pictures depict the scenes of the day when Jesus was crucified. Each church hires an special artist to craft these stations. So anytime you go I to a catholic church, notice the stations of the cross and their unique beauty. Wikipedia definition: The Stations of the Cross or the Way of the Cross, also known as the Way of Sorrows or the Via Crucis, refers to a series of images depicting Jesus Christ on the day of his crucifixion and accompanying prayers.
