Exploring A Politician’s Abandoned 1895 Mansion 

Epic party porch! I really hope someone saves this old beauty. That wooden arch, fireplaces, stained glass. The beautiful wood throughout. Such a grand mansion. It’s nice to hear how long the original family had. I wonder if they couldn’t keep it up. I can’t imagine the heating bills. Especially now

I love old houses like this, they are just so amazing, this one is beautiful and it wonderful that no one has destroyed it with graffiti.

The bedrooms in old homes were so spacious and lovely! They had many windows but because they were so large there wasn’t a problem arranging furniture. I love everything about old homes!

The photo at 14:59 is a reproduction of the famous Swedish opera soprano Jenny Lind. She became well known in the USA after PT Barnum hired her in a long very expensive contract as a performer, to tour the USA with the Bailey circus. Her voice was light, high coloratura soprano and somewhat piercing. She was blonde and lithe and called billed as “The Swedish Nightingale”. These prints were reproduced heavily since the 1900’s-1980’s. They are everywhere. It’s not a relative.

I sure hope someone saves this beautiful home.It would be a shame for it to start to decay.It definitely looks like it could be fixed up.Turn it into a boarding house or a bed and breakfast.I would stay there if I could.It deserves to be a home again.

It's a crying shame that this beautiful home was abandoned. It is absolutely a grand home, so much better than all the tacky and cheap homes that are built in crappy subdivisions all throughout the country these days. Wish I could afford to move into a place like this and bring new life to it. Your channel is great, so glad I found it 👏✌

Absolutely stunning! This had to be a very wealthy doctor to have a house built like this. These glorious old places have such character. Nothing today compares with these old beauties. Even the smaller craftsmen homes built in the 40's & 50's have more character than what we have today. And by the way, the recessed door are also called pocket doors.

Wow - They don’t make houses like that anymore- I’ve told my kids if I ever won the lottery I would built a new Victorian home

LOVE this property. I'm feeling a very respectful vibe inside it too. I only wish I could have a place like that to preserve and maintain its original personality and fill it with life and pets haha. It is beautifully finished with so many wooden details and artistic carvings. I really like the staircase too, I love a chunky banister!It's huge, I'm sensing that there used to be a love for music passed down the entire family and they would have big banquets and get togethers and play and sing. Those pre-psychodelic tiles were sold by Sears in the 1800s or so. We had one exactly like it. And I was delighted to hear you say "b-flat". Not many know music nowadays.

Pity it has been left abandoned so long. It is sad that no one has taken it over & made it a home once again. What a beautiful place to bring up a family 💜

Lovely old house and in surprisingly good condition. It could be renovated pretty easily looking at it, without knowing about the roof etc.

Love, love, love the intricate wood trim. You can certainly which doors and windows were original to the house. And the pocket doors were always a wish of mine. Would love to have even one of those clawfoot tubs. Beautiful home in its prime, no doubt. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for taking us along on this explore. I absolutely loved the entrance to this home, very unique. The detailed woodwork is something you rarely see anymore. The transoms are so beautiful through out the house. The pocket doors seal the deal for me.

So they gold trim around ceiling is called a picture rail. They hung pictures from it with wire. They had to use these rails because the walls are plaster not drywall. The doors by the main stairs are called pocket doors. the fireplaces were originally coal burning. It was common in the forties and fifties to close them off and use modern heaters in front of them. Great house, great video!

Beautiful old house. I appreciate that you don’t get bogged down opening all the drawers, and focusing on old cans of paint or a can of lighter fluid in a cupboard, but I was so lost trying to figure out the floor plan. Please spend more time on that.

this home's interior reminds me soooooo much of my parents first big reno. it was a 17 room brick in downtown Dayton, "Oregon Historical District", but was build as a double with one side eventually becoming an upper and a lower apartment. The fireplaces here are so much like the ones I helped clean and restore. The fireplace surround tile style is called "mottled glaze"

The lady in the picture is Jenny Lind (1820-1887), the Swedish opera singer. We have the larger picture of her in a nice frame. The formal dress she had on, wonder how much it cost back then. I loved seeing the Victorian mansion, wish who has the money, could restore the house, it would be beautiful. The many bathrooms would need to be redone, maybe replacing some of the fireplace tiles, and refinishing the mantles. I love the built in china cabinet, the beautiful staircase. The large front porch, the entry way at the front door, and the bay windows really add to the house. I love the house too, should be a home again.

I am 63 years old and I can remember being about seven or eight years old. We lived in an old house in San Antonio, Texas, Texas, and I did take my baths in those bathtubs. I didn’t think it was a big deal but as I’ve gotten older it, it is a big deal

Amazing! Those sheer curtains look so clean and there's no cob webs hanging on chandeliers. Round window looked very clean. There's a fortune in resale value of the claw foot tubs and door knobs! The old chest and linens and all the fireplaces! Again, amazing!

I LOVE OLD ARCHITECTURE!! Everything we build today is kind of crap compared to what came before. Knowing what I know now about America being WAY older than our history books I bet many of these beautiful huge Victorian homes were actually found or to use their terminology “established” lol and never any construction pics. There are so many families and people that would love to have a home .. this is just criminal to not put these homes to use rather than have them sit and rot 😥😥

Ooooh ! One of my favorite of your explores, yet!! This house; its dreamy; cozy; and extravagant at the same time. What a joy it be to inch by inch, restore it, to its original glory. I love Victorian style homes. The high ceilings, french doors lead to other rooms; oak door/ frames. My oh my!! The fireplaces with its original cast iron covers. The kitchen needs help! Its 10,000 years outdated lol!! Yikes!! Its a total rip out; do over, but it be super fun; and exciting to redesign the kitchen: it requires; definitely, a island with a farmhouse deep sink; lower area for a cooler and cupboards. The stained glass above the windows; absolutely perfect and beautiful. Who doesn't admire such artistic expression? The homes wood floors require vinegar and water solution to bring out its beauty. The natural solution; omit chemicals; is the best way to retain wood, of any type, original beauty and ensure the wood long life. Believe me replace slats of wood especially on the floor is a pain in the arce; and match the stain as sheen with the general area of the floor? Ugh! So it's, best to do the upkeep use of vinegar and water solution. The Easter egg colors on the walls is hideous. Someone had a temporary break in reality; no way a rational individual, paint walls in that color. 🥺 Ahhhh!! Deep claw foot tub!! The best eva; for longated bubble bath, soaking. 100% worth it. The home is absolutely gorgeous. Was I not paying close attention, to you, dear Sir? Were you not showing off the homes chandeliers, and other forms of ceiling attire? Or maybe for those split seconds, you were in fact showing off the ceiling lights attire, and my mind was wondering all over. I was imagine it so, I was at home. Here. Do forgive me, good Sir. 😉
