I do wonder about the children & why they have not taken some of the family photos but then again if you don't have to experience that pain it is often easier to just put it off. I am curious though... is the house in the children's names? Are taxes being paid or does the state own it for back taxes?
I know you were perplexed about why all the clothes were left & not donated. When you loss someone you love its just too painful to get rid of. The process of it brings up so many memories of the person that passed and often they still smell of that person for quite a while. It can be traumatic. Since they were not in need of the space I can totally see why it was all still there.
The many boxes (empty or still filled with shoes), designer clothes (still labled), etc. gives me the idea that a shop was closed down and the remaining of the stock was brought in here...... as it does not make any sense otherwise!
Can someone lay claim to that property since nobody's there in the former owner's family anymore? If not, I'd start making visits to get at least the radios and books. Who knows how old and valuable they are. This is totally cool.
You guys didn't notice something the plaque that he gave a $1000 donation, whatever it was on the wall, the plaque there's a design on the top in the middle Of the plaque . It's the same design as the tattoo on the young ladys Left thumb exactly that read the note earlier from 30 years ago she has it.
So for those wanting to restore, the issue you'll face is that once moisture gets into wood, enough to cause rotting, pretty much all the wood in a structure will need to be removed. The only parts of this home that can be saved, are the stones. Even the glass in windows will need replacing as its likely been subject to increasing stressors while the wood and metal around it slowly deteriorate, leaving it more prone to breaking unpredictably. While I wish such homes could be saved, the cost involved would be better spent rebuilding around the stone walls that can be saved.
How do people not appreciate and treasure the things they grew up with and respect their mother’s legacy. Unbelievable to simply walk away and let a lifetime of love simply rot away.
I wish you would "invite" a bilingual local who can fill us in on the history of the property and the town. By not inviting locals, you look like you are actually an uninvited, gawking American, even though you are respectful. Such a person could also explains what is in the books and the artistical and practical function of objects and furniture. You could reach out via the internet before you visit.
Thanks for your videos, Jeremy! I enjoy watching! I live without much freedom since I don't have a car, so this is very interesting to me. I love history as well, so I love the historical aspect of your adventures, as well as the stories since I'm an author. Also, my deepest condolences regarding your dad. Greetings from Idaho ☺☺
When i saw the operating room , its the most scariest room for and doctor or surgeon apart from any room in the hospital. The most scariest moment is when a person loses their life during surgery.
Wow what an absolute stunning treasure! Seeing the abandoned baby carriages get me every time. Those precious items that used to hold young, sweet, joyful life and now they're abandoned and rotting away. Those who were once the babies have probably passed on by now. It feels so sad. Kind of like a post-apocalyptic world. The story at the end was very scary though. Please never risk your life to make these videos, no matter how incredible they are. Be safe out there ❤
I can imagine the lady & her husband living there as they were when they were young & knowing me I’d tidy up to make it a bit comfy for them. Jeremy, you’re very respectful of people’s possessions, I like that about you.
I swear when you looked at that jewellery in the box on the cabinet, there was a big urn sitting right in front of a black&white photo of a lady, and somethings telling me it’s her ashes ✝️💜……. 😭 what a jerk-off… hope the kids were removed from his care, the filthy pervert….
