Amorgos is an awesome island - however, I'd like to point out that it belongs to a group of islands called Cyclades that is a conglomeration of very dry islands. The rest of Greece (the mainland and most of the other island groups are actually very very green and forested)

Amorgos is the capital of the small Cyclades. Around it there are many small beautiful and very very quiet islands {Gramvousa, Nikouria, Schinoussa, Donoussa, Koufonisia (not so quiet anymore) etc}. It has very beautiful beaches with crystal clear waters (such as Agia Anna, Mouros etc) but they are accessible up to a point by car and then you have to walk on a path to reach the beaches. It is worth it though. It also has many, many walking paths (such as Stavros - with a dazzling view of the Aegean) which I think are exactly as you like. I have been going to Amorgos since 2008 quite often because my brother lives there.

I believe beaches in Paros and Naxos are more crystal clear and bluer in my opinion however Amorgos is a stunning island aswell

Gabe you're really giving me a great idea about this bike ride vacation thing. Greece looks like an awesome place I could do this in sometime in the future. I wonder what other countries are bike-friendly enough as well to be able to do this.

I agree that you can't explore a lot of the islands by bicycle as it's too far and it's pretty intense in the heat. However it's still a good way to go to get a bicycle for your trip to cover shorter distances and see certain parts of the island without having to pay to rent a motorbike every day. You roll off the ferry on your bike and can generally get to a campground or hostel easily enough without having to get a taxi or rent a bicycle right away. Then you can rent a motorbike or car to explore more of the island. I haven't rented anything my whole trip so far because of my budget, and have still managed to see plenty of the islands (also because I met people who had rented quads or cars, as you'll see in my next video). So if you're on a tight budget then having a bicycle is a good way to at least see part of the island without paying anything.

Hmmm, I don't remember now. But it was right down from that little village of Tholaria. So if you go up there, then just take the path down the other side of the village. It's the only path that's obviously going towards the beach from there.

hey Gabriel! Ever been to the Ionian islands (western Greece) or Sporades (north of Cyclades? They are much more vivid and green and have a different look! Should check them!

You should visit Syros with the capital of the Cyclades islands, Ermoupolis, you'll be amazed, very beautiful island

+Gabriel Traveler Glad you liked it. Is it in your plans to visit any of the islands outside of the Cycladic cluster like Skiathos? The contrast between the barren Cycladic land and the green landscape of Skiathos is extreme (I have koukounaries beach in mind where the pine tree covered hills reach almost to the sea)

Sounds awesome, but I'm now on Astipalia. Just a week left in Greece before I fly to Amsterdam, so it looks like this will be my last Greek island on this trip. I'll have to come back to Greece yet again, always more to see.

I am Greek but i have never been there it may be the place i wanna go this summer for some days thats why i am asking. Been watch'n your vids bro, very nice, but maybe I missed something.... How do you have a bicycle? Rent, or bag check it? God man, I travel a lot of the world too, a bicycle would lower transportation costs so much, and a lot of places rip you the hell off for short taxi rides.... Dang, can you please elaborate.. Thanks... BTW, check out my page too, its just for family mostly, but we have the same passion!

I bought the bike at a thrift store in Athens. I mentioned buying it at the beginning of this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4ntJOAKrJwk.html It was a pretty lucky find. I should make a video telling the whole story because it was really random. Now my mission will be to sell it once I get back to Athens in a few days, hopefully I get lucky in that regard as well.
