Exploring an Abandoned 1850's Mining Neighborhood - Families kicked out of homes 

Ghost towns are my favorite to document. Hopefully, you enjoy this one ! Sad to see old building's have this fate, but at the same time, exploring this environment was very informative to how these people lived very similar to myself. Yet having to be kicked out, I can only imagine how they feel. Thank you guys for coming along!

Sad that the State didn't step up to help rebuild the bridge. Nothing quite like letting your tax-paying residents of a historic town get thrown to the wolves over a few hundred thousand dollars.

I grewup in a old coal mining town from early 1800's. When the mines shut, people left everything behind. This was in the 70's. Everything is gone now. We loved exploring every house. Awesome.

this video was like going back to my childhood and seeing how badly its decayed today sums up society and times today.

Seems to me that neighborhood and those houses were falling apart long before the residents were forced to leave unless someone planted that 2018 calendar. I can't make it make sense unless there was a natural disaster? Do homes fall apart faster in places that get a lot of rain or snow? Before I got the roof of my house replaced in 2020, the other roof was there for over 20 years with no problems or leaks. So I really don't understand the state of those homes unless they have been neglected for a long time. It probably was a drug den and eyesore for the town at this point. Also ...what sounded like the door slam might have been a tractor trailer hitting a pot hole? He's pretty close to what I would call a freeway in my part of the US. Thanks for another awesome walk through history.

If you are in Pennsylvania; the town was paid compensated for the initial fire that started in the coal mines, which are still burning to this day. Yes, some residents still remain but compensated.

Most likely a homeless person put the calendar up due to the fact the can goods expired 2005

Here in my neck of the woods in rural southeast Kentucky there are so many abandoned places I could show you around too. We have many of the old coal camp houses and We actually own two of the old camp houses near us we bought for the land. One of the larger houses was left full of things and still like that so anytime you want to travel to southeast Kentucky come on! ❤

So sad. I can imagine what this village may have looked like back in its hay day. Neighbors mingling amongst the town in 19th century clothing, all the houses windows illuminated by candlelight by nightfall... It's neat to imagine. 🕯♥️

It's a shame so many people are homeless, and yet we have homes like this deserted..

Whatta shame. Cute houses. And that creek was clean looking and beautiful area. Shame they couldn't just give the people their bridge. We send millions overseas. It's shameful. Looked like a sweet community.

@DarkExploration This is my favorite channel, in addition to some true crime & conspiracy, lol. I used to explore all over central Florida before many old abandoned structures have been demolished, but there's still some cool places left. Devin youre doing an amazing job at documenting the past, and I admire your respect for preserving the integrity of whatever is left. There's so many places in central FL to explore! (I was stoked to see the abandoned water park in Otown) Would be stoked to tell you about some unusual places not many ppl know about if you ever decide to head South! Also, the videography & editing has become top notch! Keep on doing what you do! 🤙

Awesome stuff man, I'm fixing to go explore a ghost town close to where I live. I do wanna mention that at 30:25 when you are standing in between those two houses and say your aren't going inside, you caught what sounds like a door slamming or loud bang. Now, it could have been a draft but the wind wasn't blowing that hard and it wasn't hwy noise. I could've been something else entirely but, tell me what you think or if you heard it. Just so you know, a telltale sign of a prior structure fire is the appearance of perfectly cut rectangles in the roof, which are commonly cut by the fire department during a fire to vent heat.🚒

Seeing all the kids things and teddy bears etc.. in the 2nd house made me really emotional for some reason 😢

Looked up that q&a with pete Davidson and it happened in 2022. The entire timeline of this abandonment doesn't add up. Some left decades ago but some left last year ? Surely there wasn't just a single family living in this massive place all by themselves with abandoned houses everywhere

Great video, there was a calendar that said 2018, how can houses be that deteriorated in such a short time?

For the rapid deteoration, i think some of those older homes could have had aluminium roofing. And scrappers loooove aluminium (right after copper) I saw it happen three times already.

Seems strange they paid for the property and just throw everyone out when replacing the bridge probably would have been cheaper and would have still brought in money from taxes/utilities. Did that area have a town name? If not wanting or able to say, it's cool. Just curious with a place that small if it had a name. Thanks for taking us on another great explore. Stay safe.

I'm amazed at how many of these explorers know so little about their product: what they see from furniture, to toys, modern life necessities of the last thirty& forty years and even basic terminology of house components and compartments and even why. It's scary that they even drive.

That place had only been abandoned less than two years when this was made. Davidson was at the Sojka Pavilion on Jan 23, 2022. Amazing how fast it went down. Not unless someone put that poster up long after.

Wow. I can't believe that Calander was from 2018. Those houses have to have been empty longer than that. The roofs are completely caved in. I can't imagine all that roof damage and interior decay happened in only 5 years. Also, please take someone with you when you explore. And one more thing - I hope you've had a tetanus shot!

I grew up in old mining camp house in eastern ky. My house sat on creek bed. Cause when little camp hoises built creek was road. I am coal miners daughter an proud! ❤

Those houses looked like they were abandoned for 20 years. Sadly if the highway was that close an on/off ramp couldn’t have been too much to build

It's better to have a buddy with you. Years ago, I used to metal detect remote places alone. The last time, I was about a mile into the woods going over where a farm house used to stand. I was crouched down digging. When I stood up and turned to go the other way, there was a guy carrying a backpack walking toward me. He might have followed me from the road or had a camp back there. No matter, I quit going by myself. It's not worth it.

I'm watching this video and all of a sudden I have a 'holy crap moment" when I see that New York sky line mirror hanging on the wall! I've got the exact same one hanging over my bed at this very moment! It was a Christmas gift from my sister and brother-in-law back in 2000! When you plug it in and turn it on, it lights up and has the sounds of flowing water! I've always enjoyed having it especially after 9-11-2001

Jurassic Park:Lost World tape cover has a "Lenticular" effect or "Tilt card" is a term used for it. CD's & DVD covers had them. It was a thing for sone time. The 80's was big on them also. With trappers, stickers and notebooks type of stuff.

It's unfortunate that they just didn't widen the road and replace the bridge coming into this community. But like always, money talks and the land is probably worth more than these houses. I think you mentioned 2018 as a date of when the neighbourhood became abandoned, but I wonder judging by the overall condition of the houses, if they knew the end of the neighbourhood was near before the fire, tha could be why repairs were locking. I wonder if the interstate, had anything to do with this neighbourhood becoming abandoned, as well.

This is sad, we have a village over here, and small mining town as well, for copper, half of the village is demolished since the closure of the mine in 1939 because the mine owned the village in that day. Its keeped well forgotten, forest grown over house yard and left foundation, nothing appears on the road there line of big house existed until discovered LIDAR mapping, i found the old mains road back in the wood, passing along all of these house foundations, i just spend few hours metal detecting and just hit a one cent copper piece somebody turned into a pendant in 1911, that’s incredible, just for that, i will plate in gold and turn in pendant again for all the respect of those people a century ago

10/02/23. Just looking at these homes, yes it is sad that they abandon his house due to fire. But it's a shame the vandals came and destroyed. Thank you for your channel, your updates, and your many explorations on our behalf, sir. I really enjoy your adventures, vicariously, but have concerns for your health and safety. I’m a big fan of David Paulides’ CanAm Missing 411 channel on YT, through which he recounts and analyses the numerous mysterious disappearances of people all over the world for over 100 years now. As that he’s an avid outdoorsman and hiker, himself, he constantly warns against hiking on your own, by yourself, and cautions to always be properly prepared and equipped. He actively stresses carrying a firearm, bear spray, food, water, all weather gear, and a PLB, a personal locator beacon. During one of his most recent episodes that was posted to YT, he discusses having broken his fibula on both legs on two separate occasions and how those injuries had immobilized him in both instances. As a result, he also suggests that if you do hike on your own, that you let your family and friends know where you’re going and when you plan on leaving and returning from that hike. You are a fine, compassionate, mature, responsible, charitable, and personable man and I would hate to see it if misfortune found you, especially as that you are regularly walking through abandoned, decrepit, and remote locales. Just because you’re walking through an abandoned town doesn’t mean that you’re not still within a jungle and that you’re life can’t be threatened. Yes, you were right, btw, those were The Three Stooges. Please stay safe and happy trails, my friend.
