In a small village just an hour north of Paris, sits the home of WW1 veteran, Louis Teray. Abandoned since the 1993 after Louis passed away, his small cottage home is now hidden by the woods that have now grown around it.
Louis served in the French army as an infantryman and was severely wounded during the Battle of Verdun in the summer of 1916. Thus losing both of his legs and was sent home as a war hero.
Some time after, he married a single mother, widowed by losing her husband to the war and he acknowledged her child as his own. Louis and his wife both feeling unlovable because of their horrible circumstances, found love in each other.. a love that would last for the rest of their lives. They would stay married until her death in 1992.

One of the reasons why I love watching your videos is because of your voice, it's like an ASMR, very relaxing and also, the way you carefully touch the things inside the Abandoned Houses, is so gentle it gives me tingles.. I know it's weird but that's why i love this Channel.. 😁

It's so sad to me that there are all these homes and nobody who wanted, cared or collected the family heirlooms!🥺 Everyone should have someone who's there for them. In life and in their passing!!!🙌 No one should ever be alone in death!❤️ Why these videos are so depressing to me!😭

Thank you for another great tour. This home really hit the heart , didn’t it? I gather that the house is unrepairable but it feels like the remaining household items are waiting for a new purpose. Or am I alone in feeling that? What hardships people survive. I’m grateful for their story. But I truly wish someone could rescue the remaining furniture ❤️🇨🇦

Having a father who eventually lost one full leg in his late 70’s and watching him exist and wither away from a feeling of uselessness, my heart went out to this poor man. Seeing the prosthetic was very emotional. It really puts life in perspective. Thankfully God brought the couple together and they were able make a good partnership and have a quality life together. When will we ever be rid of war?

Just found your site. I live in Idaho, USA on the Palouse Prairie and would get excited finding an old fallen down farm house to explore . I can't imagine having access to castles, chateaus, mansions, villas like in Europe. I can't believe houses like these are abandoned like this!

Your channel just randomly popped up and I thought "oh no, another one of these guys bent on invading and looting under the disguise of historical discoveries". However, since I love history, mystery, challenges and intrigue lol I decided to watch. It took one episode and I'm now hooked. There's a lot you can tell just by the narrators voice, and I found a caring, knowledgeable, sentimental guy, who shows a lot of respect for the treasures in the story. I think most others in this field lack that respect which is why I've never signed up to the other channels, as much as I just love this kind exploration. Your attention to detail is remarkable. It's those little things that give the clues to help fill in the unknown story. I have always been fascinated with the abandoned, unloved buildings of yesteryear, and even at my age, I think nothing of exploring them myself. It's so sad to think that these places that in their day were the pride of the owner, the countless hours of toil and labour, the sacrifices they made, the time and money spent, are now left to return back to nature. Such an absolute waste on so many levels. So now you have me hooked, please take us on many more exciting adventures! Popcorn is ready, let's get going.

As you go in you can just imagine how life was for them. A very interesting house and airy. I could almost see the wind blowing the curtains with a magnificent color through the house on a sunny day. Seems so relaxing. And the small fireplaces just the right size for the house. You could tell these people cared about each other with the furniture and things in their house. It shows the character of each person, so awesome. I wished it could of been longer. And I love ❤️ your voice it is so relaxing and makes you feel safe and warm inside. Words cannot express the appreciation I have that you found this and shared it along with the history! As much as I understand the bittersweet nostalgia of keeping it in its natural state of decay, I wish sometimes that I could go in places, especially this one, and not change a thing! Just clean it and restore it to its original, yet simple, cosy state of a HOME that it once was! The furniture is absolutely magnificent!!! It always blows my mind and saddens me that the elaborate work that went into these intricate pieces of wooden art that’s also served a vital function for generations is just considered “garbage” and is replaced by the cheapest most ugly modern, mass produced true garbage. And people are willing to spend a fortune on it until it goes out of style in 3-5 years and then it end up in a landfill because no one wants it and the people go out and buy the next trendy, cheapest quality piece of trash! I think I would allow people to experience the “time travel” nostalgia that I always do when watching these videos! Maybe accept donations based on generosity simply to help provide for the upkeep of the property. To me places like this, particularly the ones in Europe, are the last relics of a time long ago that’s quickly being forgotten and lost to a greedy, wasteful society and culture where everyone feels they need a new home along with everything inside every 5 or so years! And the housing isn’t built to last decades, let alone generations! If I only had the money I’d buy up as many as these types of properties as possible and not only would I restore them to the original, comfortable homes they were? I’d rent them out to people who appreciate the beauty and simplicity of a time where family meant more than the next trendy thing to throw away in a couple years. When parents and grandparents MADE quilts, curtains and throw pillows! Art was skillfully done by children, intricate stitched artwork, oil paintings and more, and framed as SPECIAL Christmas gifts meant to last a lifetime. Beautiful wooden shelving and bookshelves with loads of antique books of all sorts! I’d clean up all of the artwork and beautiful photos and then search for the perfect antique frames to place around the home as well! These little unique attributes of a real family life add so much to the intrigue! (It would also be fascinating to find old trunks and boxes etc and fill trucks with old odds and end you find in these old places, diaries, photos, momentos and so many fascinating things to put in trunks that people could look through as part of the time travel experience.) Pillow cases were lovingly embroidered by hand for every child......and people kept and valued this stuff and passed it down from generation to generation. People had so much less STUFF yet they knew the value of what they had and the importance of spending time with friends and family! And even if not everyone appreciates the “time travel” aspect of staying at a cleaned up, restored and preserved place like this? Maybe some are afraid the ghosts of the past might still linger where they’re invited by having their original home restored? Personally I think it only holds the “ghost” of ones own imagination and the echo of a time long gone. There are MANY people, ghost hunters, paranormal investigators etc. who are literally lining up to stay overnight at places such as this! They even stay in ones that aren’t even close to clean and comfortable! There’s just more reasons than not for people with the means to buy these properties and do exactly what I’m proposing here! Just PLEASE don’t change much. And if change is essential, keep it in fitting with the era. And also the values of the period such as handmade items and reclaimed items such as wooden doors, railings, beautiful and unique salvaged items for example from another very old building that’s being torn down? Or things such as very, very old picture frames, antiques. Also a vegetable garden and/or hobby farm with egg laying chickens (would be amazing experience for kids to adults to collect eggs for their breakfast if they desired that experience. depending on location of course, small scale farming and vegetable & fruit gardening could be a feature that would draw people in probably from all over the world as well. A beautiful property with lots of mature trees and perennial flowers etc. Fruit trees. Maybe also an outdoor barn (friendly well cared for “barn cats” with kittens a few times a year! Up in the fun loft area of the barn. Area of bottom level of barn could have large collection of antiques for sale! Hire someone to make a variety of different preserves and baked goods etc. to use for the breakfast at B&B, snacks and in addition for sale for people to bring home! Ok my imagination is taking this way too far! I’ll leave it though. Who knows, maybe someone with the means will be inspired by my enthusiasm and create my dream so I can at least visit one day!
