Whats sad is this is a neighborhood I'd love living in. It had large houses, you weren't to close to your neighbors, and you were surrounded by forest!

I googled this place and they said they did find asbestos in EVERY. SINGLE. HOUSE. nothing can be too new for asbestos

All of this was torn down and removed in early 2017.

Lincoln Way, Pittsburgh PA is another entire street that was abandoned. A whole street, and none of the surrounding neighborhood people will tell you what happened AT ALL. Scary, and there’s theories on what happened too. It’s worth checking out! Peoples suitcases in the middle of being packed, cars parked in the driveways, tea on the stove.... it’s insane and worth a visit.

2018 article reads that apparently there was absetos found on the properties. The buildings were essentially shells, no power or water and were one of the last to be approved from septic instead of sewers, but no septic installed.

It's very heart touching to see all these houses abandoned. Think about it, someone used to live here, kids used to play there, ride bikes, families were celebrating events, kids were running around the houses, it's so sad when you look back. Everything is so untouched yet so damaged.

So I live in this county and on an article it quotes “The ghost neighborhood has recently undergone demolition, leaving some Georgians scratching their heads as to why this neighborhood never came to be.”

I love the sound of walking on the stairs, warm and like home... so sad these houses don't carry the memories of people living in it.

Wanna explore a mostly abandoned town? Go to Monessen PA. 48%abandoned. Trees growing out of dishwashers on 3rd floor apartments on main street, entire mansions left full of stuff, entire blocks vacant.... I spent 2 years exploring that town, and STILL didnt see everything!

This reminds me of an End of The World type feel. Something went wrong in the science labs, and everyone started turning into zombies. The Apocalypse wiped out a majority of the people. The people that were left, fled for safety, but diseases caught onto them in the process, and killed them instantly. Diseases from all the dead bodies/ zombies. The few people that survived, were low on food and died of starvation. A few decades later, people began to reappear, but very few. No one knows how they came to this world. ...

I actually lived at the end of the road where this subdivision is, or was located. I'm impressed that you guys even managed to last that long in there as the sheriffs department used the subdivision for training purposes and was always highly monitored. That's the reason for a lot of the damage. They took it over because too many of the illegal immigrants in the area were flocking to the empty houses and living in them, thus the reason for a lot of the left behind items. Only a few of the houses were actually occupied during the development of the neighborhood, and those tenants basically took the developer to court and was fighting with them for years. It was really a shame.Also, it wasn't really much of a mortgage issue, as it was that the developer built all those houses without having the land surveyed, so half the properties were falling off the cliffs or the foundations were crumbling while those few people lived there. That's how he actually got caught. I know I read the trial when it was fresh but I'm sure he had far more legal issues after. He did serve time, thankfully for putting those people out of all that money and trouble. Ya'll actually missed out on a really neat historic abandoned home that was across from my house next to the lake. Although, it was in pretty horrible shape when I lived there and may not even be standing today.

Wish y’all would come visit the abandoned Tuberculosis hospital in Talihina, Oklahoma there is also an abandoned old Hospital there. It is actually said that the old hospital is haunted. They are terrifying.

The stupid thing about this is that the people that built these homes trying to screw families over could have easily made way more money had they been legit in the beginning. They knew the area lacked the required resources to make the homes liveable (sewage, electricity, city water, etc.) and they still tried to follow through with the development and scam unsuspecting families. Not only were they found out, but they probably made a lot less money from their scheme than what it cost to build the houses in the first place.

This is really sad. All of these houses seem like they would have been very, very nice homes to live in. They were big, spacious, well laid out, etc. Shame that they were doomed from the start. Interesting to see homes in a state like this that were built recently. Almost gives you an idea of what modern homes might be like after an apocalypse.

Guys i live in Dawsonville. Matter of fact my parents were trying to get a house in there. But come to find out the builder scammed everyone out including the banks. There is no water or sewer system. Its anderson lake road and then you take a right to green leaf.

I have always lived in the Dawsonville/Lumpkin area and so has my family since at least the 1950's. I just turned 18 and I had no idea this even existed or the fraud surrounding it. When they said Dawsonville, GA I had a mini freakout.

Despite the mess and condition this neighborhood is in, it’s very nice. Someone should rebuild it.

The fire dept. must use that area regularly for training. Around the 8:20 mark you can see multiple vent holes cut into the roofs of those houses. A few times in the video you can also see holes in the walls that weren't random vandalism but looked exactly like the types FFs would make to practice escaping through sheetrock. I'm surprised the FD didn't burn a few down for training before they were demolished.

I realize this is a comparably old video, but it's sad to see a development gone to waste like that. No infrastructure, and retrofitting would be too expensive. I work in construction, designing trusses, and my heart hurts to think of one of my projects rotting away like this, much less an entire development.

doesnt necessarily have to be a teacher who dumped that. i remember when my teachers car got broken into and a weeks worth of homework went with whatever else they took. whoever dumped the stuff was probably sorting it in the abandoned house after their smash and grab

It's a shame to see this.... with so many homeless people in the US, people could've lived in those houses.You can even hear cars on the road nearby.

It's great that things like this are filmed & documented as these types of places are eventually demolished & confined to history. Great work guys keep it up👍

A similar thing happened near Branson Missouri. They were building a bunch of condos in a valley and already had the money from the people living there but then the person making them backed out and took the money. Now there’s like 5 empty buildings in a valley that wouldn’t be safe to live in, if it rains the whole thing will flood.

I remember reading about this maybe 10 years ago for school. Mortgage fraud very rarely developed to this point. Most cases were a few houses here and there, or a house that never existed. Mortgage fraud was actually a pretty big contributor to the 2008 hosing crisis. I never knew these stood for so long, last I read about this the original developers were sentenced for some amount of time in prison.
