Construction for this now abandoned Nuclear Facility began in the 1960s which was to accommodate the electricity demand for the 1980s. Construction began in 1975. The Plant B reactors were canceled in 1983 and the Plant A reactors were canceled in 1984.
Come join AU as we explore this Atomic facility...

I wish this would have been finished. There's an abandoned one right next to where I live built at the same time. These plants are very safe except when idiots run them. The place where the plant is that I live next to is pretty much a ghost town now. If this plant and the one I live next to would have been built. The area that i live in could be a big boom town. These plants bring in well paying jobs as well. I love nuclear power plants!!

Every nuclear accident has been caused by some form of operator error. One of the top fifteen worse nuclear accidents in the world happened in Brazil from a X ray machine that killed twenty people. Some inexperienced mechanic/technician worked on the X ray machine that morning and before anyone knew what happen people started suffering from radiation poison/sickness. These environmental activists and lobbyists have more power than the average citizen and those educated idiots know less than a dead shit bird.

@@cwf081166 The fact an x-ray caused the fifteenth worst nuclear accident shows how few nuclear accidents they are.

We Agree... They really have become catastrophically hazardous to the environment when things go bad. Hopefully in the years to come the world will move towards safer energy production ideas. Reply ·

Also glad it didn't go up, I hate Nuclear power plants, Wish they would ban them. We have so many other way's to create energy without causing a risk to our environment or/and our health. 2 big meltdowns/explosions should be enough of a warning to make us not make anymore or use them for that matter.

Agreed... They really have become catastrophically hazardous to the environment when things go bad. Looking back at Nikola Tesla's ideas we should be way past the technology/energy production that we have now. Hopefully in the years to come the world will move towards safer energy production.

But that means no more cooling towers!

They build those types of cooling tower in most coal power plants. Asvea I wrote in another comment every nuclear accident was cause by careless human error. Maybe we should limit the number if people that drive to prevent car accidents or a better ideal maybe half the people on planet Earth should stop breathing so the other half can live great, happy and productive lives. Not gonna happen soon. Three out of four of my grand parents died from cancer. Only one that did not smoke died at 48 and the other three that did smoke lived to be anywhere from 79, 81 and 83. Or maybe you can be like one of my Great Uncles and go through three and half years of combat in the Second World War only to be hit by a bus going to church one Sunday three months after VJ Day.

Maybe a real, reliable alternative energy source can be found soon unlike the two billion dollars spent a factory that makes solar powered roof shingles that went bankrupt after three years. How about the cost of properly disposing of the batteries that store power gathered by solar power. Those types of batteries are an environmental accident waiting for a place to happen.

Asvea After a few weeks without power, you would sell your soul for a nuclear plant to be in your backyard!
