Keep making these videos. They are great. I love learning about history of trucking. I’ve been driving 25 years and its cool to remember my “good old days”. I especially enjoy the 70s-80s

Not being in the industry makes these videos interesting to me! Thanks for sharing.

I love it. I can't believe you can actually spot an old light pole as a 76 pole. That is awesome. I can't wait for more!!

I got to the TA a couple weeks before they closed they're in Nashville and did a video on it and bought a few things like a couple location t-shirts and things of that nature. When they cleaned it up after the flood, it really was a nice place to be

“he ended up eating his own head” I’m guessing you mean that he unalived himself? I’ve never heard that expression before

In that particular context, Karma came back and bit him hard. All the dirty tricks and con artistry an arrogant attitude came back on him. That place is worse than the place he wanted to get rid of

I really enjoyed this, interesting point of view. I don't know if you travel to upstate New York... aka tje people's republic of New York. I-87 exit 16 tjere remains a truck stop called Scotties. Scottie has been there for the vast majority of my life, and was actually the 1st "squad building" when Wilton Emergency was in its infancy and they allowed to park our ambulance there and plug it in. Aside from a few "modern" upgrades it remains the same old Scotties when I was 16 and an Explorer with Wilton. It's been a little bit since I have been up that way, we were headed north and decided to see if the resteraunt was still resteraunting... it was and the coffee is just as good as it was almost 40 years ago. If you are ever up that way, it might be one you want to check out.🙏💜

I've heard about this place and seen pictures of it online. It would be cool to get up there and see it

One of my favorites was the Bobber in Effingham. They had the best beef stew with fresh bread. You talk about new Paris 76. I remember when they were putting up the Petro across the street, I was in the 76 and got terrible service in the restaurant. When I told the waitress if they kept it up, Petro would put them out of business. She laughed and said it would never happen. Well, we all know how that ended. There are still some good old truck stops out there.

I remember going to the Bobber in Effingham. Was a pretty neat place and tell the Flying J took over. I remember watching them build the new building and then they moved into that and tore the old one down

I used to go there quite a bit. There's a Waffle House there. I used to go to that Walmart DC not too far from there and I enjoyed parking either there or at the pilot next door. I do know if you going to stay there, get yourself a two-pack of bug spray

When I started driving in the late 70's that's all I lived out of was the 76's in the Midwest. The 76 in Oak Creek WI. was torn down and a Flying J popped up, it's now a Loves. When I started to drive out west I stopped at the Burns Bros. I still have my TABB fuel card. You are spot on with everything you have said good job.

Used to stop at that burns Brothers in Troutdale Oregon quite a bit. Last time I was there though, you can see it starting to get run down. I haven't been there in probably 8 or so years.

Back in the 90's when I was running west I would stop at the Burns Bros in Cheyenne Wy, Fort Bridger Wy and Barstow CA. Been retired since '21 and enjoy your videos, brings back memories, some good and some not so good lol.

Hey Dave, stumbled onto your videos just a little while back. My name is Steve West Michigan is my home. There is an old 76 truckstop just south of Grand Rapids, Michigan on US 131. Now here is the funny thing. Union 76 truckstop on 76th St. at exit 76. It is owned by J&H oil company now but you can tell it used to be a union 76. I'm 66 years old now and have been out here on the road since the spring of 1988. I love how trucking used to be. It used to be a lot of fun. It was always a cool adventure. I still enjoy what I do just not like I used to back then. truckstops were awesome when they were truckstops. Now they're all travel centers with the same products and the same look most of the restaurants seem to be closed nowadays, but they all have plenty of junk food for you to buy. All the independent truckstops had something that made them unique. There was always something interesting to see inside or out. Anyways you have yourself a safe and great day. I just picked a load up in Manistee Michigan and I'm going to Brooklyn Ohio right now. Just stopped to get a bite to eat on the road and comment to your video. Safe travels.

I used to love going to that one in Grand rapids. I used to deliver Freight all over the Grand Rapids area and I always tried to make that one a stop.

The restaurant at that truckstop is still open. It's also one of the best restaurants on the south end of town. On the weekends if you want breakfast there you will have to wait in line, every weekend!

Back in the late 70's and 80's. Was in most of the old real truckstops. Matthews I stopped in every trip back south. Back then we had truck stops. Not fuel stops like today. The old North 40, was ok. But I always ate at the white pines that jointed it to the north.
@truckerdaveandred6731
@truckerdaveandred6731 3 месяца назад
I liked the old North 40. I used to stop at Matthews at the Flying J a lot back when it was still a flying j. It seems like that was the place to go when you were in matthews. I stopped at the TA quite a few times when they still had a restaurant but wants the restaurant left there wasn't much there I wanted. And when the Flying J in Matthews burned down and they rebuilt it with that Calamity they call a truck stop, I don't really stop there anymore if I don't have to

@@truckerdaveandred6731 I agree some should have never been opened back up. But nothing like the orange ball in the sky. When in Knoxville or West Memphis. Trash both of them. So many lot lizards it was unreal. No way were you going to sleep on those places.

Memphis has been one of those places that's removed itself from my stop list. I don't stay in Memphis or west Memphis anymore . It's just gotten that bad @@Pete-from-Tn
