I’d imagine listening to graphics drivers would be like plugging the yellow plug (Of an RCA cable) into the white hole on the TV. Oh what wonderful sounds those were.
Running games in fullscreen used to make a HUGE difference on these older windows's. Only starting from windows 8 (i think) has it not mattered anymore. The reason is that otherwise it has to render to a backbuffer first and then copy that into the window. Fullscreen mode dedicates all of the gpu just to the game. On modern windows the difference isnt so big since the whole thing is rendered on the gpu anyway so the overhead of copying that buffer into the window is tiny.
Oh, heck yeah! someone else actually doing the impossible crazy stuff! I may or may not used to daily-drive an early NT5 build a couple of years ago for fun... gotta give NT4.5 a shot too! wooo!
Really appreciate you covered this, for those wondering yes the sounds in the build are from the betas (though the shutdown sound is from beta 3, cry about it.). Also what’s the PS3 controller doing there?
super funky fan project. ive always loved the kinda half 98 half NT look of NT 5.0. I managed to get it running on real hardware a while back. Gonna go ahead and load this up on my shop system since the install of W2K on it seemingly died after... 3 months of ignoring it? lol
Yah, I forgot turning off my computer speaker and wet myself by the NT 5.0 startup indeed, 'cause I was taking my laptop to school, starting up an NT 5.0 VM without realizing that it has sound card drivers working, without having my headset. And, almost the whole class heard that! I was not scared by the startup itself, but rather feeling awkward.
- opposing force in the video and this is how we know she means business because she's playing the objectively best half-life expansion (except for foxtrot uniform. we don't talk about that chapter)
I get what you mean about that case, I had an athlon xp build in a case like that one and yeah it sucked, my front panel door was just fucking gone, I ate it cause I was hungry
What mincraft does is as time goes by , it starts to get smoother , idk the exact reason but maybe its trying to load something right after the world loads , slowly getting smoother as we spend some time in that world
I always find myself having to swap XP CDs every 5 seconds while installing. It cant find a DLL? Switch to the other CD. Now it can't find a different file? Switch back. Its stupid but I've made enough discs at this point that I can always do it despite an aging drive.
windows NT 5.0 came before windows 2000 witch windows 2000 was based off, then windows xp built on top of that windows xp IS windows NT6, and windows 11 is windows NT 6.1
It's not running any better, because you are limited by the Pentium 3. I bet if you had P4 or Core 2 Duo, you would see much better fps even with GeForce 3.
sometimes I wonder how I found you from wanting to install Linux on a i586 and thinking "yeah I wanna watch more of this unhinged content" still love it though can't complain
