this is the first time I have ever made a comment I moved to the apts behind sandys and Whataburger in 1981 I lived in an apt at 600 s first st ifound ajob at the sheraaton crest hotel / see the vidiies rock the casbah anyway you could be a person that had a service job and live in a nice place by the south congress was not what it is now by the way my rent for a nice 1 br apt was 240 including cable all things go on
Says almost every Austinite XD As someone who was born and raised here I have mixed feelings. Sometimes I welcome more people until I get stuck in traffic and see idiots not knowing how to put a turning signal on, or going 10 MPH under the speed limit!
@A K did you take a poll? or did you just assume its californians or "yanks"? and seriously? yanks? we all live in the same country but you refer to people in the north as yanks. god damn that is sad. and I was right there with you up until you spouted that hillbilly shit.
Great video of Austin, thanks! The bats can be hit or miss, after a few disappointments, we don't take visitors to that anymore. It isn't a sky darkening swarm, but an impressive "river of bats in the sky" if they emerge before it gets too dark. Thanks so much for showcasing Austin!
Austin is a shadow of its former self. It’s no longer weird, it’s open to profit. Too many changes and not enough heart. The soul of the city has been bought. I miss the town Austin use to be. We were weird, independent and humble
All we can do now is accept it and support the independent business that are local. I support "NadaMoo!" which is a Austin, Tx Ice cream who have AMAZING customer service! They are more expensive than Blue Bell but worth the price and I love knowing I am supporting Texans.
The Oasis is definitely the place to be, especially during the sunset. If your are at the brewery, try the duck poutine. Lots of good food at the main restaurant as well. The place is a favorite for my wife and I when we are down there. We have visited Austin for two of our anniversaries. - Michael
Robert please know how far reaching your influence is on this beautiful Sunday Morning, sitting here with my hubby, coffee in hand, adding another city to our bucket list of “go too” places. Always an enlightening way to start a day thank you!
Thomas H Greetings from the East coast of he USA. We Certainly agree with your words regarding inspiration derived from this channel. As we head into retirement and our full time RV adventure begins, following Robert has been nothing short of amazing for us, as well as many others like yourself. We hope you have a wonderful Holiday on this side of the pond and have a blessed day.
@@Charlie_Paula That's the kind of life we're dreaming about living as well. Either living in an RV or a tiny house on wheels. The freedom of being independent of a certrain place is intriguing. We did a road trip across the West coast of the USA last year, and in January 2020 we'll return for a small road trip going from Orlando through Naples and further on to the Florida Keys. There's really no country like the US when it comes to cross-country road trips, the way the landscape can change during just a few hundred miles always amazes me. Thank you very much, and you have a blessed day as well.
Thomas H Having the dream of adventure is something everyone should strive to live. Your words are a welcome thought today as we move closer to our retirement. We’re in agreement regarding the accessibility of the highway network in the USA to go from place to place, but having experience traveling Europe and the South Pacific, some of the best roads as well were through Germany. Unlike the USA where some of the roads are in disrepair the roads We found in Europe were impeccable. Hope to see you in our travels, be safe our friend.
Love this video! Your camera work was spot on. We really enjoyed the beautiful architecture at the Capitol building. The bats were really cool to see, we enjoy looking for bats when we camp. The lunch you made looked delicious, we are going to try to cook a version of it sometime.
Thank you for a great view of Austin. One of the cities on my list to see. Looks like a safe city where people like to eat and take advantage of the outdoors.
Great video. I like very much Austin City> the buildings, the bridges, the Colorado River with the active life. A lot of places to eat...... but I prefer your cuban picadillo with the yelow rice. Congrats and go ahead...>>>
Very timely video. My wife and I and a couple of friends will be visiting Austin next year. We also plan on retiring in the Austin general area in a couple of years. Last year, we visited the DFW area. We are currently in Maryland. I have saved your video and will be revisiting it again as a reminder of what places to visit in Austin. Keep producing these wonderful videos.
I'm from Houston and been to Austin a few times but you've shown me quite a bit that I've never seen. This has definitely inspired me to make more trips to Austin.
You can only see the bats at their peak during the late summer early fall. At that time there are around 2-3 million bats under the bridge. Glad you got to enjoy my city of Austin!
When I clicked on the video I thought "Why is this ad 37 minutes without a skip button!" Lol then I realized this was the video and that was my city XD
We love your videos! If you ever want to see a phenomenal bat colony, check out the University’ of Florida bat houses. It was so thick, I almost couldn’t see the sky through all of them! So surreal.
As a Austinite who was born here, yeah surprisingly you can find solitude however those areas aren't common. When I used to do urban exploration I found certain parks, trails and areas that other people didn't visit, jog or walk at.
Yeah plenty of offshoot trails on the violet crown trail that are 90% private even on a Saturday. I love exploring them and listening to audiobooks it’s a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle but still be close to the city
If you have lived in San Francisco, Austin feels like a deserted small ghost town. Austin is a small city. Sorry folks. Don't pride yourself in claiming its populated. Its not even a top 10 city in the nation, and it never will.
HI Robert and Ili !!! Once again a very enjoyable video !!!! Your content - including exceptional audio and video are really too good for RU-vid !! You deserve a cable channel !!! I do look forward to all your creations !!! So glad Ili agreed to include a photo of you both !!! Such a nice couple - you both are so supportive of each other - so nice to see these days !!!! I know you miss having her with you !!! That cooking class looked delicious. As always - your videos are the best, and I look forward to each and every one !!! The effort and expertise shows in every one !!!!! Thank you !!
I enjoyed seeing all the interesting places you visited. Austin is a lovely city, and the people there are so nice.🙂 The river is lovely but for a minute there the name confused me. The tour of the capital was cool. Thanks again for sharing.🙂
I live right behind that whataburger and Sandys frozen custard lol Austin is such an awesome city. thank you for this video showing off how awesome Austin is.
We love Austin and plan to spend at least a month there. This video was great! It's a really great way of getting an idea of all the awesome things to do in Austin. Lou & Angie 💚💜
Lived there in 1993-4 and there were many positives depending on the profession you're in. I remember visiting in 1983 and it was growing fast then. I remember boating and passing the 360 bridge in progress, and the span over the river wasn't there. Very cool music scene and great bars!!! Lot's of fun was had.
Howdy Robert, thanks a lot for sharing yet another brilliant video here which I thoroughly enjoyed watching as usual when coming from you.Awesome views, excellent comment and very entertaining background music, as always.A real 'titbit' to relish on a Sunday afternoon.Best wishes and cordial greetings from William across the Big Pond.
I recently discovered Traveling Robert and his fabulous videos and music. Like him putting a sticker on each state he visits, I am going to post this comment on all the videos I watch! You da man, Robert!!
You're very lucky to have seen bats. I don't know about Austin but here in PA we had 6 species of bats and according to sources 99 percent of these bats have been decimated by White Nose Syndrom. Amazing the numbers of people turning out to watch this natural phenomenon in Austin. Brought back memories, as a young man I fished French Creek in Franklin, PA. Evenings and early mornings one could watch thousands of these mamals as they exited or returned to their hibernaculum inside water intakes along the banks of the creek. Thanks for the memories Robert. Safe travels and Austin TX is now on our "where to" list. We are "The Griswolds" on RV Vacation.
Only about 13 mins in, but guessing you didn't go to East Austin, on the east side of 75. LOTS of restaurants and amazing food. I hope next time you will get to explore there and Barton Springs! Great video as always!
Gracias Robert!!! Tú vídeo me va a servir de mucho, porque el año que viene nos mudamos a Texas y estoy viendo dónde llegar si a Cypress, the woodlands o Austin, pero ahora con ese vídeo creo estar más convencido con Austin... Gracias
While on vacation in Puerto Rico, walking on a board walk near a beach and a light house, as I walked under a light post that had a dome cover about 6 bats 🦇 started skreeching and all flew out. I screamed, ducked and ran soo fast!!! I’d pass on ever waiting to see bats fly out of anywhere 😂. I was just hired as a Flight Attendant and I am looking forward to when I will visit Texas. Great Video 👏🏼👍👏🏼.
Robert, thanks for your wonderful travel channel. To Ileana, I would enjoy hearing you comment in the episodes you travel in. Even if it's just brief. Please! Please! Please! I look forward to the moments I see the two of you together. It's such a family moment.
Austin was awesome and you captured it so well! From the quaint little campground nestled in the heart of downtown to the state capitol building and everywhere in between. I've never been to Austin but it's definitely on the list now! The Oasis on Lake Travis looked especially inviting! 👍🏼
I lived in Austin for 38 years. Was a great place to be young. Couldn't wait to get the Hell out of there as a 50+ year old. Paradise lost. That being said, I was eager to see your segment A lot of my stomping grounds were in the video.
Have driven though Austin many times and have hated it, as well as Houston, traffic is terrible. Now I see i will have to slow down and get off the beaten path. Next trip Austin!
Austin was an amazing place to live. Now traffic is 24 hours a day, you can get a box for an apartment for some ridiculous price, no diversity, good luck to you if you move here. Be ready if you are not making decent money to pay for rent, you will be eating bread and water
Then how come I was miserable there. Got NO GOOD Customer service there and the motels sucked all the money out of me there. They took advantage of me down there. I had 2 nervous breakdowns down there. I Hate Texas.
@@thehardertheyfall2702 My experience is different from yours. We all have different circumstances. I worked all over the world including Texas and chose to retire in Austin. My only complaint is that I am surrounded by Liberals even though I live in the rich part of town. I thought Liberals were poor people.
This is 100% true. I remember growing up traffic hours were from 6-7pm in the afternoon and in the morning when people went to work as well as kids went to school. Now there is traffic from 6:40am-8:50am in some areas it's cleared up, then again it starts at 11:30am-2pm then again at 2:30pm-8:30pm sometimes there is even traffic at 9-11pm like wtf....11pm...!!??
@@howellwong11 that is a gem of a statement. and by gem I mean ignorant. you really are embarrassing yourself. " I thought liberals were poor people". crawl back under your rock and watch fox news.
been watching these backwards from the most recent.... and .... mmmmm.... whataburger.... since leaving Texas, somehow I am always now 500+ miles from a Whataburger.... after eating it most days of the week from week. But do agree, in Austin downtown, there are a lot of great options around, and of course a lot of great music at night.
Robert, your cooking is quite good and I bet you that eating in the RV is even more cozy and the food tastes great. Nice that your wife joins you from time to time, makes the trip even more pleasant. I am watching all the series you published and Having a lot of great ideas where to go when I happen to be in the area. Sometimes I see that you carry the Go-Pro does it also have zoom? Greetings from Oregon.
