Join us on our wildest adventure so far as we sail the Cape Verde Islands before the Atlantic crossing.
We honestly need your help to continue the video production. If these films make you happy please consider to show some support on our Patreon page / sailingbeyondborders and we'll give you some special extras in return!
-What is Patreon?-
It is a website platform which allows content creators like us to find support for the things we make. You'll find musicians, podcasters, filmmakers. Most creatives, like us, enjoy making stuff for the sheer love of the process. What Patreon does on top of that is to empower and sustain creators. It is our goal to continue sharing this journey and keep raising the bar in terms of quality, length and frequency of content. We also do "normal" freelance jobs at the same time so, for example, spending 2 weeks editing this video is a major commitment. We love it of course, but we're at the stage where we do need a bit of help to keep the production going. Offering support isn't for everyone, and we totally get that and there is no expectation from us. But, if these videos make you happy and you're able to support for a little while then you can't even imagine the world of difference that you and a few other people will make.
Thank you, Tim and Mitch x

I’m sitting anchored in my favorite anchorage at Catalina Island, Califormia in my aft cabin on an Amel Super Marimu. I can here waves lapping against the shore. There is a gentle breeze and easy motion. It might time after days of paddle boarding,snorkeling and hiking with my two boys 13 and 14. I’ve followed all the usual and unusual RU-vid suspects and ha be done some cruising and one pacific crossing. Preparing to set off some day soon as well. I must say your videos are really good. I’m super impressed and will try to support your efforts soon. Be very proud of you effort and skills making videos. I that you for my evenings entertainment. Fair winds. Look forward to the next episode

Catalina island sounds awesome!! It’s the desktop picture on our MacBook, so we actually look at it most days haha! That’s a great boat you have, and exciting that you’re preparing to set off for cruising again! Thanks for the kind words about our videos and of course very appreciative of your support. Hope you enjoy the Atlantic crossing episodes and fair winds to you :)

I watched all your videos from the beginning to this point. Your videos are spectacular, your adventures are wonderful. The crew works very well together. This past year I’ve been living through others adventures and today you helped me make it through another day. God bless you! I didn’t catch what type of sailboat your on??? Weather research is a very important piece of all journeys ❤️❤️❤️😊

Hi John, thanks for reaching out, we're so happy that you're enjoying the videos! Your words mean a lot to us :) The boat, Cherry Ripe, is a Rival 38 built in 1979 and we feel so lucky to have found her. Best wishes from us both

Hello hello! Thanks for watching and your comments :) We want to let you know that the story of our Atlantic adventure is coming later in April. We would love to have brought this to you sooner but we've had to catch up on some of our normal computer work to rescue our bank balances a bit. If you want to support this RU-vid production and allow us to be able to be more consistent you can go to our Patreon page where any level of support will help us a lot. @13:14 "....Well, Timothy, it might be a bit late in the day to have this conversation with you but... all the turtles become really 'good friends' and 'room mates'!" I bet that underwater camera housing cost almost as much as the boat!

@@waterpeople-expedition We will be cruising from Canada next summer down to the Caribbean and will be sailing there for 2 years. A family of 5 and filmaker, surfers an scuba divers. Will create content with storytelling about our Journey. Maybe we will meet somewhere!

Brilliant! Really exciting trip ahead of you! Let’s keep in touch and see how it all lines up. So hard to plan anything at the moment with covid, but we’d like to spend another season in the Caribbean. Lots of surf options we want to explore, and we’ve just started kiting which opens up even more playground! We’re divers too, and definitely dreaming of having a compressor on the boat at some stage so we can explore and document the underwater side the way we’d love to.

Nice episode on Cape Verde, but only one? Too bad you did not extend your visit longer. I sailed here two years ago and spent that time to discover the archipelago, it's insane and beautiful ocean, and best of all the people. I dedicated a whole season on my channel, @windedvoyage. As well decided to wait out the pandemic here in Cape Verde. Looking forward to how you're dealing with the pandemic on your side of the ocean.
@waterpeople-expedition
@waterpeople-expedition 3 года назад
Oh we would have loved to have more time in Cape Verde! Such an exciting and beautiful place! Getting to visit even more parts of the archipelago wasn't possible as our crew friend Ben had commitments back home after the Atlantic crossing so, after more than a month in the islands, we had to press on. Thanks for linking to your channel, we'll take a look :) With the pandemic it certainly limits some freedom of movement over here. Some islands are closed to yachts, and those open require varying blends of covid tests and quarantines.

You made Cape Verde look wonderful. What are the blue sticky tabs on your dry food? We loved the turtle section, amazing footage. What camera set up do you have? Fantastic video. Can't wait for your bext episode. Keep safe 😍⛵
@waterpeople-expedition
@waterpeople-expedition 3 года назад
Thanks, I think Cape Verde probably made itself look wonderful, we only had to switch on the camera! For the water footage we have a Sony FS700 and Odyssey 7Q+ combination, all inside a SPL waterhousing. It's quite big, clumsy and quite an effort to use it, but it's fun and the results it gives always seem nice. Funny you noticed the blue sticky tabs! Blue sticker = "Don't touch it." These supplies were bought back in the Canary Islands and Mitch was convinced that myself and Ben would finish it all before the Atlantic crossing!

I just discovered your channel. I like it. No too shallow and no boobs. Keep it that way 👍😊 I observed that you don't seem to hoist your main sail and that your boat rocked therefore quite a lot. Maybe a good idea to put your main sail up. It will give you a more stable ride over the waves :)
