After two and a half years full time in our motorhome, we know all too well how often days just turn out different than expected. But that's just part of the experience of living on the road. 😂
Hello Both Your experience of the van parking close by reminded us of the time when we were parked with our caravan in an aire on the autoroute not far from Calais (northern France) ready to cross to England the following day. At around midnight a car pulled into the space right next to us and a group of people got out with bottles of booze and a guitar and proceeded to have a sing-song immediately outside our window. Bear in mind, this was in a totally empty car park !! We had no option but to move to another aire to get some sleep. Some people ! Btw, we are currently touring Spain too, with our caravan. In the beautiful Marina Alta region at present. Enjoying your vlogs, thanks.
We often have to remind ourselves that most people are just completely oblivious and don't have any negative intention. Especially in random car parks, what would to us might seem like strange behavior, can usually be explained very simply. 😂 But, yes, we've learned it's best to move sooner rather than later. Enjoy your trip! We're still further north but the cold will push us in that direction shortly.
Loved Tossa de Mar! my son and I spent a week there a few years ago and spent a lot of time on the small beach on the other side of the castle. The food in the area was incredible and people were extremely friendly. Would recommend going in September and find an AirBnB in town if you can’t camper van it.
Some great beaches and nature hikes in the area. Like you say, September is probably the sweet spot. November can be a bit cool, but we got lucky with weather. Thanks for your comment!
My husband and I really enjoy your videos. So thank you for all your hard work!! I do not normally comment on videos but you both made us gigle with your rant about vans....I think it was more than justified 😜. Enjoy Spain and looking forward to the next one! Muchas gracias😊
@@WeWillNomad I think you are absolutely spot on! drawing attention to this kind of behaviour. It is about being aware and respectful towards others. No need to feel bad! 🤗
😊 Lisa scared of spiders show was very cute. Reminds me of our daughter's fear of spiders. We live in Australia and we have lots of redback spiders around our homes (mostly around the wet area and under the stones and bricks). They are not deadly but their bite can be quite painful reaction especially for kids and old and sick people with chronic problems. When we moved to Australia she was around 3 years old and she was fascinated with bugs and she would stop and pick up any crawling bug on the ground with her bare hands to have a closer look. I was afraid one day she will pick up this redback spider and I always told her to stop touching bugs with her hands. 10 years later things changed in opposite direction (no she wasn't bitten by any bugs or spiders she just changed). And she developed arachnophobia and even today when she faces any spider she freaks out just like Lisa here. She even makes the same faces and distrust after the spider is removed away. OK maybe it is better to be safe than sorry but living always if fear from spiders and always panicking is more harmful to health than most of the spider bites. And for those chicken feet you found in Aldi shop they can be very tasty if you forget their looks. Most people believe chicken feet as a food are used only in Asia, but some European countries also look at them as a delicacy. Hungarians put them in Sundays soup and even eat them. Actually chicken feet are very healthy. They contain collagen and some minerals such as copper, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, and also calcium. Especially when making a bone broth. So if you are discussed by the looks you can cook them in your (clear) soup with some veggies and noodles and then discard them if you really hate their looks. You will end up with a very healthy and tasty soup. Good for immune system. Another great video. Thank you for the upload.
Great story about your daughter, thanks for sharing. It's always interesting how experiences as a child can shape you. Phobias are often completely irrational and for Lisa the mere thought of a spider completely freaks her out. Oddly, there are many other insects she just don't mind interacting with. As you say about the chicken feet, it's also very popular in Southern Africa. In South African townships ‘walkie talkies’ or ‘phoenix feet’ is a classic favourite as a cheaper meat option. You can buy it as a snack from roadside grills in many places.
WE KNOW WHO WE ARE! Great video guys, we hung our wet kit up and sat down to enjoy your dry adventures We are stationery sorting out 'stuff' and can't wait to start our own meandering again. Happy travels guys xx😂☔👣
🤣🤣🤣 Yes you do! When the weather is bad and we need to encourage ourselves to get out we always ask ourselves "what would Kevin & Nicky do?"! All the best getting ready for your next big adventure! 😊
Good evening, how are you? You're right, it's also happened to us with so much space that at late hours of the night someone parks next to us in the wee hours of the night, opening and closing doors, talking loudly, in short, a lack of respect for others who are trying to rest 🤦. We even had to change seats at 4 am because of a group that was partying next to us until late 🙈. Holy patience!!! Thanks for sharing kisses
😁😂 Oh yes, there's nothing like that 'decision' late night... Do we move or will it stop? We've had our fair share of that and often it's bes to just move as early as possible.
Thanks! ❤ This time of the year it's really the only option. Days are so short and with unpredictable weather we just have to be more patient some days.
We feel your pain with the swish bangers. They tend to rock up at silly o'clock park on your bumper and try to beat the world records of opening and closing the doors before they retire for bed🤣, but hey ho thats living on the road. Great vlog again, we love travelling Spain, enjoy 👍
Too bad I just stumbled onto your videos. I am originally from Malgrat de Mar (the town after Pineda) and would have definitely suggested visiting the Castell de Santa Florentina!! It was on your way and it is amazing. There is a small cover charge but totally worth it. That castle was used to film some scenes of the TV series Game of Thrones! Great videos! Oh by the way, I think the reason the other RV parked close to you guys, is, maybe, they were afraid. So what they say, safety in numbers. Safe travels from Florida.
Thanks Andrew! They can park close if they want.. but it would be nice if they refrain from slamming doors nonstop. When we pull into a place we often park between other motorhomes (not too close) to avoid getting a surprise neighbor late at night. We really try to avoid parking next to vans with sliding doors. Thanks for the tip on the castle. One of us (!) is a GOT fan 😁
Wow!!Amazing episode!!Your attitude, the view, everything looks fabulous!!Since you are in the Mediterranean, you should follow its famous diet!!Waiting for the next vlog!!Cheers!!
I just can't understand why they would want to park so close, absolutely no consideration for any body else. I love the way you guy's travel, no real plains, taking it easy, so much more relaxing. Enjoy. 👍🐸
Thanks! It makes a big difference when you have the benefit of time. It's not ALWAYS a good thing though 😁 as one can easily get 'stuck' and move very slow. But that's part of the fun. Safe travels!
@@WeWillNomad I spent a few months in near that area way back. L'Ampolla just south of there you'll see Paddy Fields .and of course the Ebro river ..Enjoy
You may find the "neighbours" were struggling to find a place. Possibly driving long days in an attempt to get somewhere by a certain date and the parking place where you were, was literally a pull in and sleep spot. Being near other motorhomes possibly made them feel safe. We have a sliding door, very noisy swish bang door and we cringe if we arrive back to our van after a certain time, we usually try not to. But, it can't be left open so a bang it has to be If you choose to live and travel in your campervan, that's what you will experience now and again. That's my rant over. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Like I said in another comment. It's not about it being a van (although generally they are more noisy). These guys chose to pull in very close to us at a late hour for whatever reason and proceeded to open and close every door multiple times over the course of the following 30 minutes. That's inconsiderate to the people next to you. If they parked right next to us to v feel safe' surely they also realise (or hope?) there's someone in vehicle. This makes it even worse.
I'm going to teach you guys a 'possible' new caravanning word...."wizbang" which I think is from our home Australia. It is those freeking campervans with huge sliding doors and its the sound they make when they camp 3m from you, often at 1100pm, and that damn door goes... wizzzzzBANG every time they close it. We try to camp on our own but you are right, it's definitely a European thing to pull up close and open/close that door at least 6 times whilst they pee in the dark. They do it in Australia too and nearly always European backpackers. They are bloody pests and we avoid 'wizbangs' like crazy.
😁 Those small micro vans can be the worst. 😂 It's basically car camping and in summer we often wake up and find half a dozen scattered around. In Europe most motorhome / campervan travelers only use Aires, that are basically glorified parking lots, and they accept being squeezed together as the norm. We try to avoid places like that if we can and even a public parking is often a better bet than motorhome specific spots. The biggest problem with a van is just that you 'live' differently in a van than in a motorhome. Motorhomes have a side door but they rarely live towards any side (unless at a campground).
If you are still in Catalonia you must visit Girona's Jewish Quarter, Pals, Peratellada, Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranch and farther north: Cadaqués, Port de La selva, Port Lligat, Cap de Creus, etc... I guess you'll be somewhere else by the time we are watching this video.
Awesome tips! We actually 'got stuck' a bit in that exact area and we haven't even gone to Girona yet 😂 Some of the names in your list are just around the corner and we've been to a few already. it's getting a bit too cold for us now and we can see the snow on the mountains, so we'll be heading south towards Tarragona area soon.
The walled Old Town in Tossa De Mar is a stunning example of ancient history and in such an amazing location on the coast. I am as confused as you both why someone would choose to park so close late at night, when there is ample space for all. I wonder what they would have said if you asked their reasoning behind it. Then again, better not to. Please continue with your meanderings. Preferably spider free for Lisa....lol Safe travels.
Maybe you're "neighbours" we're looking for some company 😊. Or UST the security of having another van nearby. The noise and banging is a pain though (we're regular campers)
Hummm.... As Lisa and André have said 'Bon día' is bonjour in Catalán, the offical language in Catalonia apart from Spanish. But yes, 'Bom día' is Portuguese.
Your few failures are more than made up for by your wins, and you know it. Julle video's is beslis 'n weeklikse 'n hoogtepunt. My dogter is amper klaar met skool en daarná sien en en my vrou julle dalk iewers op die pad op ons eie Van Life-avontuur.
Amper klaar met skool? Wow. Tyd vlieg! 😮 Dankie vir die comment, ons waardeer dit. Mens moet droom. Planne maak. Ons moet die kort tydjie wat ons saam het gebruik so goed moontlik. 🍻
Hi both. Among the Spaniards, opinion is divided for and against bullfighting. The fighting bull is bred expressly to be bullfighted. If bullfighting were prohibited they would simply become extinct. On the other hand, from the moment they are born they live their entire lives. In complete freedom and isolated from people in large pastures, of all the animals that humans raise, fighting bulls are undoubtedly the ones with the best quality of life. I don't like seeing a bull die in the bullring but let's not be hypocritical. Every day we kill millions of chickens, rabbits and more animals that live locked in a small cage and never see sunlight in their entire lives. I just wanted to make you think about it a little. I really like your videos. Greetings.
