In this explore, we explore Fort Brockhurst near Portsmouth, UK. It was a number of forts built in the 1850s & 1860s to protect Portsmouth and its vital harbour against a French invasion.
The Fort is open certain times of the year for public tours - see website for details.

Also having a fireplace inside the room with the cannons allows for easy access to light fuses on guns.

That bit you thought had caved in was a direct hit from a German bomb in WW2. It smashed through the casemates and blew out the brickwork.

Very interesting why is it that only the deep south of england ?has all these fortresses and stuff
@ExploringWithin
@ExploringWithin Год назад
As that was the most likely place where the French would try and invade at the time so they built a series along the south coast
