In this video my buddies and I explore four fire towers in the Eastern Tennessee and Western North Carolina region. All roads traveled (to the towers) are US Forest Service roads, and are passable with any 4wd vehicle. Something just feels right about taking a few older jeeps down an unimproved road to see an early 1900s structure at the end. I had a blast visiting these towers and producing this video. I hope you enjoy viewing the footage as much as I did producing the content. Let me know what you think of the video below and when it comes to jeeps....Keep It Classic!

Nice video . I own an 82 CJ7 and would love to go see the towers . The Jeep has been in storage for 10 years, it was my first vehicle. My boys talked me into getting it out and going through it. We took our square drop overland trailer on the Natchez trace , Natchez to Nashville and back , about 970 miles . This trip was really a “shakedown “ for the Jeep . It did very well pulling the trailer and now feel like it’s ready for off-road adventures. It’s 42 years old and yes, I will drive it anywhere. It is very reliable and trustworthy. I am ready to go to TN , NC with the Jeep and trailer to find some roads like that . Hopefully a place to camp too . 82 CJ7 renegade 258engine Automatic, power steering / power brakes, 273 gears ( special ordered from AMC in 82) AC Color Jamaican beige with nutmeg / orange and yellow strips , nutmeg top 14 MPG pulling the trailer Off-road trailer : 2023 Hiker 5x9 270deg awning and tent room . About 2200 lbs of trailer . Yes she struggles a bit on some big hills pulling the trailer because of the hwy gears but will cruise at 70 with the “slow” ppl on the interstate.. we hope to catch some Jeep events in the new year , if you know of any over that way let us know and we will visit

Sounds like an awesome setup! I have an overland trailer as well and would love to do something like the Natchez. I have multiple Jeeps but my favorite is still my 76 CJ7. Something about an old CJ is timeless and a blast to drive. The best way to find these roads and plan your trip, would be using Gaia. You can download the Motor Vehicle Usage Map from the forest service layer of Gaia. It shows all the numbered roads and which ones have gates. As far as Jeep type events coming up I would say Overland Expo East if you’re looking for camping/overlanding (it’s usually in Virginia). A Jeep only event is usually just a meet and greet like the WNC Jeep Fest, Jeep Invasion, Southern CJ Meetup. If you’re ever up in the TN mountains and have some free time send me a message. I’d like to do a video of your CJ and trailer for the channel. I have an old video of my overland trailer many videos back. However I’ve done a lot to it since then. I need to do an update video.

Yea I guess cause everyone thinks it’s cool but no one wants to actually attempt it 😂 I’ve been wanting to get into more hammock camping and have recently discovered cold weather hammock camping. I’m thinking of trying it sometime and may even make a video

@@JoshuaRTV1 my buddies and I take an annual backpacking trip and go hammock camping. It’s usually in early November. I’ve camped down to 12 degrees in my hammock comfortably with a quality top quilt, under quilt, and sleeping bag. Just adds a decent amount of extra weight when backpacking. This past November I decided to try a ground tent and R8 sleeping pad. I like hammock camping but got a better night’s sleep on my sleeping pad and tent. I also broke my back when I was 18 so I get terrible sleep anyway 😂
