Join us for the first episode of our series Exploring Meghalaya, where we arrive in the capital, Shillong, via Guwahati in Assam. The journey from Guwahati to Shillong was a peaceful one, made even more enjoyable by the authentic Khasi thali we enjoyed on the way!
In Shillong, our charming hotel was located in the heart of the city, so we headed out to explore the bustling lanes. After grabbing a couple of exotic snacks from the fruit and vegetable vendors on the way, we visited some shops showcasing beautiful local handicrafts. From woven bags and baskets to hats, stoles, coffee, spices, and more, this market has it all - and for extremely affordable prices as well!
Of course, our first day in Shillong would be incomplete without sampling some of the street food, so we treated ourselves to some momos and a plate of jadoh, a local rice preparation that you can enjoy with a variety of meats, and it was absolutely delicious!
