Fun fact: Odin hanging himself is the inspiration behind the tarot card the hanged man because it represents sacrifice and wisdom just like Odin did when he went to the tree to study the nine realms

6:24 loke was tied down with his own son's guts and enchanted by Odin so they were as hard as iron. The snake over Loke dripped venom into his eyes, but his wife was there to shield him from the venom. Although sometime she had to go and throw the full bowl away, while the venom drops into his eyes it hurts so much he pulls on the chains so hard the entire earth shakes. This is what causes earthquakes

I enjoyed this. One thing to understand about the Old Norse religion: The Old Norse religion is not one set religion with a basic set of morals, laws, or beliefs for that matter. We know a lot about Old Norse and yet we know very little as generally each Jarldom, Kingdom, etc had their own iteration of the religion with perhaps a slightly different story. This is because the Old Norse religion isnt based off of a book like Christianity. It is only stories and "fish tales" happen. The Sami people might have believed something differently from their neighbors whilst still believing in the same God's. They all stem from the Proto-Germanic "Old Norse" religion however.

@Max-xf1mw
@Max-xf1mw 4 года назад
@RealBallistic SMN Maybe if there was any reasonable evidence for the existence of those Gods then people might not consider it a myth. Yet people know these stories have changed throughout history. You have got a good case though, it's hypocritical! Many religions don't have any reasonable evidence. If they don't they should be considered a myth because truth is determined by evidence. Even if there is no such thing as absolute certainty, you only have what is most probable given the current evidence.

Yo White Viking brothers!!! You want to know who Odin is? I have a feeling somewhere in between 7th-9th century AD. The Norse religion & Christianity got mixed up with who He was possibly? Check this out! Esus is another name for Odin. The word Esus. Add a "J" that was later introduced into the Anglo Saxon English alphabet in the 17th century. What do you have when you add- "J" with Esus? ;) romecorruptedchristianity.wordpress.com/2013/07/09/esus-and-jesus-coincidence-the-trinity-of-esus/

Great job on your Odin synopsis, I have studied Norse mythology quite deeply. I believe you're a little off on Loki, however. A lesson that always followed Loki's stories are that no matter how badly you mess things up, it's in your power to fix things, as Loki always did, with the notable exception of his role in Baldr's death, after which he was chained basically forever with snake venom dripping in his eyes, with a loving wife trying to save him from it. Very good to teach what happens when your trickery becomes malicious and causes irreparable harm.

To be honest, Odin sounds like a pretty chill person. Most gods in mythologies (especially the greek ones) tend to be flawed but mostly brutal and cruel towards mortals and even between each other. Here not only Odin walks among mortals, but he even opens his door to one ice giant (loky) and asks him to be part of his family despite his reputation. Odin could be one of the most "good" gods around mythologies, hell he even was willing to sacrifice his eye for wisdom and knowledge. I'm sure there must be a few stories that say otherwise, but by comparison.... yeah odin is a pretty chill god.

Myth & Legend draws a fine lane between in the sand... Odin = Zeus of Atlantis during Younger Dryas Multiple Asteroid Impact Event 13000 years ago destroying Rockall Bank/Island when the Atlantic was 100 Meters lower. "In the Northern Portions & Along the Shore" & "Beyond the Pillars of Hercules"... You can even use the physical dimensions given to measure Rockall Bank/Island. I especially like the part @ the end about the "mountain low on all sides ... broke it off all round about"... The north eastern portion of the island will be the visual keystone..

Something very interesting also about "Asgård" where the God's lived and "Ashem" where Asgård was is that in an old story called "Yngligasagan" by Snorre Sturlasson it seems they believe Ashem was in Asia, east of the Black Sea I believe from what I remember of the text. He also mentioned Asia Minor and that would indicate Turkey. So, maybe vikings, at least in Sweden, came, at least partially, from Asia. Obviously Germanic tribes were likely the biggest source.

The way things are arranged in the physicality is not random, they have patterns. Lots and lots of patterns. Which means, for something to effect something else and become in a certain sort of form or way or function, it has to be arranged accordingly in relevance to the rest. I do think there is permanence and absolute even on the physical realm as far as occurrence is concerned, but there too is in absolute and impermanence that dwells within and through them

Those are practically non-existent on RU-vid but the interest is certainly there considering the most recent Conan games and movie and considering that there are ties between the Conan series and the Lovecraft series since the two authors behind those series were friends and were inspired by each other in writing their stories.

About the role, they play in the life of man´s destiny and life. There´s so little said about them. Do they carve runes in Yggdrasil or are they only weave a net about one´s past, future, present, and death? As they sit at the foot of yggdrasil.
