I gotta stop Google searching all these synths you're playing with. I'm in my early 60's and can't afford to be going down this rabbit hole. Hoping VCV Rack 2 is out soon. Great stuff as usual SA

Searching for Odessa demos to see if it’s a good fit in my first eurorack case. I shouldn’t be surprised then that one of the best demos for this module comes from the same person that did the fantastic Mass Effect Uncharted Worlds cover. I think I’m sold! Have you tried any other Xaoc modules that you’d recommend? I’m thinking about also getting the Batumi.

Thanks for sharing your try out of the Xaoc Odessa. It seems to work very well and have a good ambient sound. It seems supported by another unit just to the right of it. I gather it is from the same series...the Belgrad Dual Peak Filter? Blessings.
@stateazure
@stateazure 4 года назад
Thanks! Yes that's the Belgrad next to Odessa, although I didn't use it in this demo. It has a kind of built in LP filter called Tilt which will remove higher end partials, so it wasn't really necessary to use it. Odessa certainly has some lovely sounds!

Nice performance! Could modulation make additive synths sort of wavetableish? Since you have so much control of the waveform. (Trying to wrap my head around the concept).

Hi - Lovely piece - Can I ask: I'm thinking about getting one of these - I'm really interested in the more ambient end: are the 'lush' chords at the start coming from the Odessa or are they from another module? (cos they sound wonderful and right up my street!)
@stateazure
@stateazure 4 года назад
Thanks, John. The only sound coming from Odessa at the beginning is the low sine wave you here, all the background textures were probably a reel I made for Morphagene using synths in the DAW. I've never tried Odessa for chords as I don't own the expander for it, but as a single voice VCO it's great for sharp/metallic sounds

@stateazure

@@stateazure What do you use for Sequencing? Is that a Metropolis? Theres no multitracking in your DAW? Just the Odessa?
@stateazure
@stateazure 4 года назад
@@resonanzfilter6997 I was using the Vector to sequence Odessa. No multi-tracking. There is a background texture loop, it's just something I recorded into my Ditto as I like to test modules in a performance context.

Could it be a downloadable single-track album from your Bandcamp page? it would be fantastic in a lossless file. For me is perfect as it is, I don't know about you :)
@stateazure
@stateazure 4 года назад
Unfortunately not, it jumps and cuts too much due to my internet dropping out during the stream. On a positive note though, this was a patch in progress, so I'll do another similar live stream to this in about a week's time and record the audio during that. If no major issues, I'll upload that as a single-track album instead :)

Ive been having my eye on this one. What is you thoughts about the Oscillator so far? Awesome moody jam :) Thanks
@stateazure
@stateazure 4 года назад
Thank you! I'm loving it so far, my rack is full of stuff for warm tones, analog stuff and wavetable, but it was really missing something like this. It's capable of some great crystalline, glassy and metallic but also some fairly warm stuff in the mid range with some Tilt dialled down and also does percussion really well. I uncovered a lot of very unique sounds too, which my rack has not been capable of until now and so many sweet spots I found during this little demo. Definitely has a very large range of sounds! For bass I've not been so impressed though, but that doesn't bother me.
@jinky8369
@jinky8369 2 года назад
Whats going on in the audio around 20 mins? Left and right panning but sounds like two different sequences? Is that correct or is it just one sequence and stereo out from odessa?
@stateazure
@stateazure 2 года назад
That's the stereo delay, think it's set to ping-pong 8th (or 16th)dotted on the left side, probably a straight 8th/16th on the on the right. I use that kind of delay a lot on sequences.
@jinky8369
@jinky8369 2 года назад
@@stateazure Thanks for the answer my dude. Were you using the Odessa in stereo? The delay gain staging is absolutely perfect as well, almost seems to feel like part of the sound. I can never get my delays to sound that good :) They never feel part of it if you know what I mean.

The Odessa module caught my attention. I love its harmonic richness and glitter! The name Odessa has new meaning to me due to the violence of the Russian forces against a sovereign Ukraine, and the valiance of the Ukranian people to defend their land and sovereignty.
