Criminally underappreciated sequel. Who cares if Jason isn't the killer. It has an awesome setting, fun characters, the most amount of deaths and by far, the BEST nudity in any slasher movie, ever.
I watched Part V for the first time in over 5 years recently and loved it. Found myself laughing out loud numerous times. The demon shitter scene, Reggie's scream and bailing on Pam. The coke dealer guy. fun movie!
This, a long with the final chapter, are my go to Friday the 13th movies. I love the heck out of this movie! It's so different from the first four movies. I love that they went back to making this film a who done it slasher like the first movie (but better in this film in my opinion. The reveal of Mrs. Voorhees in the first film was too obvious.). I love a lot of the characters in this movie (Demon, Reggie the reckless, Grandma Ethyl and Junior, Violet, Lana the waitress, Pam, Tommy). I have a lot of favorite kills in this movie (despite them being toned down on the Gore.) Like the biker kid gets a flare to the mouth. Tina getting the gardening shears to the eyes. Eddy's eyes being squeezed by a belt, Junior being beheaded with a cleaver, Billy getting an axe to the head, Demon's outhouse death by a pole (I think it's a pole). Of course I can't forget to mention about the nudity in this film. It is filled with lots of beautiful nudity! Fun fact, director Danny Steinman was actually an experienced porn director. So, since you love tits, you're in for a treat! But the best thing to me about this film is Violent's pseudo echo "his eyes" dance. I love that song and I always try to dance the way she does. Her dance alone, to me, give Crispin Glover's dance a run of his money. So yeah, I'm a huge fan of "Friday the 13th part V: a new beginning" just as much as you are! P.S. Yeah, the way I see it is, we don't even see her till the end of the movie. Roy shows up the first twenty minutes so it was a lot more suspicion of who the killer was in this film. Don't get me wrong. Mrs. Voorhees was a great killer. I just feel it would be better to introduce her a bit earlier and see her interact with the other teens to see what her relationship was toward them (despite her being a complete psycho of course). That way it would build more suspects and be easier to poke fingers to see who may be the killer. I just feel part 5 did it better. Mainly by making us think that maybe Tommy was the killer and stating that Jason was cremated. So clearly it had to have been someone else. Part 1 I just feel was a bit too obvious. Nothing against Mrs. Voorhees, just the lack of suspects. Or, maybe it's because I've seen the movie way too many times to know it's her.
Tommy in this movie is a beast. They actually got right that he was emotionally disturbed and he was ready to take out his rage with anyone that messed with him.
This is the first Friday, the 13th movie I got to see in theaters, and I loved it. I also like the approach of Tommy having to deal with his ptsd but also the characters were colorful.
When Cupcakes is on the toilet, behind him, on the wall is written, " Killroy was here " That was a long running gag during WWII, also another obvious clue to the killer's identity.
John Shepherd is what made this movie. I remember watching it on video at the age of twelve, and thinking that he was so "in the moment" and focussed. His sadness was so authentic. In a sequel that is, firstly, fairly fragmented in its overall plot and, secondly, diverts away from the consistent "Jason" story, we get this very solid and enduring performance from Shepherd, a method actor, who clearly has a firm grip on the craft. He really should have been more successful as a mainstream actor.
They're way better than The Thorne Trilogy from The Halloween franchise and how ironic, that trilogy was from part 4,5,& 6 as well.. I prefer Halloween (1978) & Halloween 2 (1981) over any of the Friday The 13th movies, but however I prefer watching The Friday The 13th franchise over Halloween franchise
I used to watch these movies all the time as a teenager. I remember this one and part 9 being the weak points but rewatching it today and it was waaaaay better than I remember. Roy is fucking brutal lol.
I watched so many of these with a babysitter growing up, but I hadnt seen part 5 until much later. After hearing a lot of negative opinions on it, I was really pleasantly surprised. I don't think it's a great movie but it's pretty good. It gets extra bonus points for just trying to switch things up a bit. Earns it good will and in so e ways I'm surprised the studio let them do it. I feel like if the studio pushed for Jason to come back and the film largely played the same, it'd be a weaker entry. Oh, and demon's a great character one of my favorites as well!
Almost every line made me laugh. I like how much Tommy is affected by killing Jason. I also loved how much he was kicking everybody’s ass and only could be snapped out of it when he heard his name. The tits in this are amazing! I really liked the twist and the ending was crazy. Great story and characters that I wont forget.
I love that you like this one as much as I do! This is actually in my top 3 out of all of the movies. I feel Roy just gets no love. Other than him somehow having the super strength the kills were so great. Anything from Demon crapping too the two odd greaser guys I loved the one guys dialog when hes going to crap and comes back just doesn't notice his friend dead in the engine haha. And those tig ol' Bitties of Debra ann vorhees DAMN! haha. Also every time I think of this movie I think of Reggies Scream when he sees jason haha.
This movie is a fucking blast one of my favorites of the series. I have a much deeper appreciation for part 4 now than when I was younger. But I have one question to ask you Jason. "You Scared of spidas?"
This movie is the shit!! All 3 Tommy’s are great but this dude was intense! Gotta love what Demon brought to this too. So much to recommend it and easily in my top 3 of the franchise for taking a chance. Shit, they shoulda had more former porn directors take a stab at the franchise.

I agree. This movie actually tried to tell a story. Being a Godzilla fan, I can understand why a die hard Jason fan wouldn't like the change. But I'm a Godzilla fan, not a Jason fan lol I rank this one just behind 1&4.
@@sinistercinemareviews5420 Haha, well, this last one might not be the best "movie", but I believe it to be the best "Godzilla" movie. Combines a good, classic ridiculous human plot with the hands down best looking monsters ever. And that soundtrack!
I duno, there were some pretty sadistic and MEAN SPIRITED kills in the earlier entries, like the guy getting speared in his dick in part 4 and the woman getting the knitting needle stabbed through her face - while she's still alive in part 3.
Either in the novel to 5 or 6 it says Tommy was wrestled to the bed an diddnt kill Pam. It also says Pam help bring him back to sanity.Originally in part 6 Tommys friend at the start that dies in the graveyard was gonna be Reggie but the actor said no
I definitely have a lot of Fun with this film. The filmmakers were definitely not taking this film as a serious film, and just having fun with it, I do like the idea of a copycat killer, the first 5 (to me) are the best of the series, they have a Dark atmosphere in them, I don’t know what it is, but they do. 6-8 are okay, but still fun, they aren’t as good as the first 5.
Also the Friday the 13th video game just released collectible tapes written by Adam green called the Tommy Jarvis tapes that detail what happened to tommy in between part 4 and 6 which should be interesting!
Part 5 is way better than Jason Goes To Hell, Friday The 13th (2009), and way better than Jason X which had God awful acting.. Who cares if it didn't have Jason in the movie? It's a guy in a hockey mask slaughtering teenagers..
