This mall is an EYESORE. They literally let this one ROT INTO THE GROUND and stopped maintaining the building and then water leaks and turning off the ventilation systems lead to a massive mold infestation. This mall appears to be another one in which is facing a situation similar to Century III. I read a post online that the City of Canton has issued a code violations order for the owner of the mall to either bring it up to code or demolish it, or if they don't they would face a big fine and the city may end up demolishing it with taxpayer dollars and place a lien on the property for the demolition cost.
right down the road from me, so sad to see it like this. Where the Walmart is now was part of the mall the arcade, movie theater, Wards.... also the train you're hearing is probably NS the FT Wayne line is right up the road
Incredible the JC Penney is operating on the other side of this complex - I had no idea this mall once existed even though I’ve shopped there at JC Penney several times- superb footage!
You’re lucky! You saw more than what i did. The place was completely flooded and I tried accessing the other side and it was locked up. Also the store at 5:56 was a Woolworth! Great exploration nonetheless!
Amazing!!! I love that it’s abandoned and dirty-but beautiful at the same time with all the retro aesthetics & partial lighting….malls will always hold a special place in my heart since I worked at one for 16 years….stay awesome Wallie! ❤
Hey WallieB just wanted to let you know YT isn’t notifying subscribers in a timely manner this was uploaded 10 hours ago and just notified me. It’s not even on my subscriptions page. Can hardly wait to watch! ❤
I've been to this mall a couple of times in 2001 and 2002, it was getting empty when I went there. When I came there in 2008 and 2009, they were building a new front end to this place and some of the remaining stores moved into that new front end. By the way, that building on the left past JCPenney that you were looking at at the 5:56 mark, that was a Woolworth. Near the end of the video, you went into it. I miss Woolworth. Last time I saw that half of the mall was back in 2017 here on RU-vid, it was really bad. Now it's even worse here in 2024. This place needs to be torn down. I can't believe they left this mall standing all these years like that. I hope you're wearing a respirator in there, Wallie. Good to see an updated video on Canton Centre Mall since 2017. Also by the way, when this mall first opened, it originally called "Mellett Mall." 6 anchor stores closed at this mall as of right now. JCPenney is the only anchor store open here.
This was sad to watch for me. I grew up in Canton and loved this mall in its hey day, from the movie theatres to the Orange Julius to Spencers Gifts and the cafeteria restaurant, Breteans. Hope you didn’t get sick from this visit.
7:32 I remember all the coins in that fountain in the 90s like it was yesterday. I'm assuming the food court was something torn down to build the Wal-mart, I remember the grand piano in there and Christmas decorations.
When I lived in FAYETTEVILLE ARKANSAS I TOOK A PRODUCER COURSE AND I WAS TRAINED ON THIS TYPE OF CAMERA THEIRS USED MINI DV TAPES I LOVED DOING MY PRODUCTION ASSIGNMENT ON IT AND TAKING IT TO THE STUDIO AND AIRING IT.LATER I WAS ABLE TO LAUNCH MY OWN SERIES ON THIS SAME STUDIO GRADE EQUIPMENT MY PRODUCTS AIRED LIVE
Awesome video (always is). I have never seen so much black mold in any video, ever. Around the 14:00 mark, I saw that it looked more black. Was that just mold or was there a fire there? I love your videos and always look forward to your videos!!! Great job. Kudos!!!
I've never been to this mall it looks like it was closed up for many years the only mall near here I knew of was Belden Village and the former Carnation City mall
@@Jerlynvins no one said to not wear a mask. You’re making this way bigger that two simple comments. We all like Wallie and care about him. Stop already…
I remember going to the arcade and the movie theater where Walmart is now there was a Macy's there a Kaufman's a JCPenney's that one place with the green white and red stripes was a pizza place there's a little Chinese place in there and there was also a pretzel and hot dog shop so many memories mollett mall I don't know it is Canton center I've always done it as mollett mall but I'm also from Cleveland so....
Used to go there when I was a kid. Bought one of my favorite sport coats at Rich man Brothers. Was originally Mellet Mall, named after Don Mellet, editor of the Canton Daily News, who exposed Canton's organized crime scene in the 1920s. He was murdered by the mob.
I try to get up in there in 2021 through the bottom of the Macy's I think it was but sadly the gap in the fence was just a little too small to squeeze thru. :(
The bottom of Macy's is an old parking garage. I was able to get in about 10yrs ago. There was a side entrance with steps that led down to the garage. All there was down there was worthless trash, needles, condoms, beer cans, old clothing racks, etc. I thought maybe the elevator in Macy's went down there but it doesn't. Im sure its rather easy to get in
Hello friend Wallie, was just wondering if sometime soon you could do a video of the abandoned Pennsylvania turnpike, do you live close by if so this would make excellent content for your channel and al filming some of the abandoned town near by that goes with the closed road way , love you always like family and God bless you always my friend hope to hear back from you soon thanks ps- you and a few friends should go with you as well my friend ❤💩🪠🧻🚽🪰🍒🍌🥒💋😙⭐🤟✨🚬✌️✨🌟⭐💫🍃☘️🍀❇️✳️🚸⚠️♻️☣️☢️🈯📲📳📴❇️♻️🔆✴️🔸🔶🔻🎯
I did one on it in 2013. One of my very first abandoned uploads ever. If you go to my videos and change it to upload date (oldest) it'll be right near the top of the list.
So sad about this place! I can remember spending a lot of time in this mall many years ago when we were a young family. It just kept going downhill with fewer and fewer stores in it and then the kids from the hood took it over and it went to hell in a hurry after that. We finally quit going there after finding teenage girls in the men's restroom and teenage boys in the women's restroom at the food court and they were literally running hell bent all over the mall. No control whatsoever. Even after they renamed it Canton Centre Mall, it was always Mellett Mall in our lives.
You should do an update video on the Shenango Valley Mall in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. JCPenney is gonna be closing for the last time on Sunday. The mall itself is gonna be closing down on May 31st. It's gonna be torn down later this year. Shenango Valley Mall is going bye-bye's this year.
kind of funny that one glass skylight has power but none other lights are on, you would think premier lights would be on if that one skylight has power
To think, our Century 3 would just be beginning to look like this if it were still sitting and not being demolished. So sad that malls, the shopping capitals of the US, are beginning to look like this.
No more chapel hill mall ...the last time it was actually still operated was right before covid ...I went there to shop at JCPENNYS ..there was maybe a couple stores still open one was bath and body ...and JCPenny ...and oddly enough they were still making popcorn in the Knopper popper ...and we talked with the workers there. ..and they said they didt feel worried about the mall closing....well I guess they were wrong...
Is still open! I got my glasses adjusted there last week. But I knew the mall was bad when they were allowed to shut the doors to the concourse. That is considered a fire exit, and Penny's only has one other exit.
1. I said "boo!" at one point, it was so spooky, I could imagine trying to make you jump. :-) Would you have? 2. Hard to believe there's an active Penney's on the other side of that. It'd be like one of those books where you enter a time portal to enter it. 3. Wow, who has done more recent? This is awful as it is. 4. I walked there in early April; there was a notice saying they had 30 days to fix or demolition proceedigns would begin. 30 days? You couldn't fix that in 30 weeks.
