They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem an eyesore to one person, just might be a beautiful masterpiece to another. There are places beloved by communities and protected in the hearts of those that hold their memories of its tattered hallways and decayed rooms dear. This is the way that we feel when we explore places that have been forgotten by time. Left to rot and decay and only holding the silent whispers of what once was. We know that there are people out there with malicious intent toward these places that we venture into. It saddens us when we see the filth and destruction they leave behind, but we want to make something very clear… We are explorers and lovers of history. We in no way, shape or form condone the criminal activities that take place in the historical decaying places that we document. Social media has brought many of these places to the limelight, but the intention is to show the beauty and mystery of abandonment. Not to invite trouble. Trouble will find its way on its own and to say that the peaceful documentation of these places leads to criminal activity, is mind blowing. We have met so many amazing fellow explorers in our travels and are so thankful and humbled by the positive responses we have received. We know that this type of exploration is not for everyone…many people don’t understand why we find such beauty in decay, we can only explain it as a beautiful journey into the past. We invite you to watch our explores and come along as we visit these amazing places. As for the criminal activity that occurs, those individuals are responsible for their own actions. It is a terrible part of our society, but reality, nonetheless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this location just as much as we do. We hope that through this video, the memories held within will remain.

@@adventureswithjosh1897 we got permission from the owner to enter but the caretaker lives on the property in a trailer. You could stop by and ask them permission. It’s sealed up real good and the caretakers have two huge dogs that they let in the place to catch people.

I spent my ninth grade year at the Lake Elsinore Naval and Military Academy in 1968...run by Col. Conklin...it was a very nice place back then, the swimming pool was beautiful and the grounds were very nice...it was a different time...funny, I'm now retired and live two blocks away from the school...life's full circle...

jonmichael, I spent my last half year at ENMS 9th grade in 1968. I left in Nov. of that year and returned to Las Vegas to finish Jr. High. I remember Tom Rounds was cadet company commander that year. It was a beautiful Campus, but I hated the place. The food was almost intolerable. I wish I could say I remember you, but that was along time ago, hope your doing well.

I grew up in and around the Hemet, California area in the 50's and 60's, when California was a beautiful place to live. My mom and I used to go to Lake Elsinore. I remember this beautiful academy in its heyday, but never saw it close up. Was happy to finally see it close and even go inside. Sad to see it falling into disrepair. Great explore guys!! Was glad you still show the Nevele in your intro. Thank you both!

Thank you so much for your kind words!! When we knew that we were coming to California, this is one place that we needed to see so we did some research and reached out to the owner and he gave us permission to go inside!!! It was an awesome sight to see!!! Also, the Nevele will always be one of our favorite resorts to explore!!!

California is still a Beautiful place to live. That time in the 50s and 60s in Hemet Ca that was the "sundown town time" . Where Black's and Asians and Hispanics weren't allowed to buy homes. As the years went on the sons of all those People ended up becoming Hemet tweakers

We lived in lake Elsinore from 1960 to 65 my dad was a police officer in town and I remember he would threaten my brother with sending him to the naval military academy if he didn't straighten up. My brother was not even a bad kid, but anyway. So many fond memories of growing up in lake Elsinore.

There's a lot of witchcraft done in Lake Elsinore so I'm not surprised you felt some weird vibes. The whole city gives off weird vibes on the old side. My late husband loved living there and I couldn't stand it. I'm very sensitive to spirits and there's a lot of them there. After he passed, I was out of there in a hurry! Haven't been back since!

@brenttaylor1866

So the first two rooms they explore (the fireplace, blue tiles, etc) this was the Junior School (K-6.. and then 7th added the year I thought I'd exit Junior School; actually pre-K as Cadet Kelly was 4 years old when he came there). By the fireplace (unused the six years I was there) was a grand piano. The room behind the fireplace the quarter master and small infirmary. When they pass into the next room of the two they are literally where my bunk was there by the window. To the right "was" the latrine (three connected rooms rows of unpartitioned toilets to the left and sink and a trough urinal to the right, a step in dressing room, and then communal shower). Down at the end the small room with toilet and urinal was the private room of (Captain Cooper) the Junior School adult commandant. He was a mean sob, who severely abused me and sexually abused others. He died in that room (taken by God in answer to prayers). Towards the other side of the doorway to the stairs up/down out, that room was storage for dress uniforms and other gear. As they exit this section and enter the lobby area they turn left into a room that was my home in 8th grade (Senior school). That fireplace was also unused and hidden behind a full row of 6' high lockers. Actually maybe the QM room was drywalled (it was skinny (and had the fireplace inside it). After they leave back through lobby area those were offices. fireplaces and grand architecture hardens back to 1930's or whatever when this was built as a country club prior to bankruptcy and becoming a military school. The rooms in this wing were Senior School cadet rooms... as cadet population diminished this floor and the one above it in this wing were the last used. Above Junior School are rooms that had cadets when I was younger. Yep... 2/room connected by shared bath 2/room. Basic sure but Junior School as said was open latrine with unpartitioned toilets, common shower, no privacy. So as spartan as these small dorm rooms were, more privacy. In 8th grade showers were in a metal annex building/gym. There was similar shared latrine. You're back in the lobby. So up stairs to the right was Colonel and Mrs. Conklin (head, and owner of the school) private and ornate quarters (seen few times by me). At 31 minutes you're in the mess hall which also doubled as church (denominations rotated each year; Catholics got to leave campus each week.). At 34 the door with a square cut out (why?) senior school entry from back of the bldg for meals. Jr school only entered and exited in formation/lines. So from pool looking back is this entrance for senior school into mess hall. Balcony/patio? behind Jr school, 8th grade area (ballrooom from CC days)

My grandma used to visit a woman who lived here whom I simply knew as Mrs. Conklin. She would take me with her. I remember exploring as a kid. Would have been in the late 80s or early 90s. I cannot find anything about Mrs. Conklin inhabiting this place after it was an academy... which is so intriguing to me... like maybe it's just forgotten in history. But I remember she just had a small piece of it for her living quarters. The rest was still decrepit. I'm thinking it was their daughter. As I watch your video I was looking for a chair lift on stairs or evidence of one to try to see which side she lived on. I THINK looking at the front it was the left side of the building. Did you see any evidence of that? Thinking she had a balcony
@JMExplorations

jeslyncou. It may have been Col. Conklins wife. I went there in 67 and 68. The Col. died in 77 i believe. I drove with the Conklins from Las Vegas to Elsinore. The Col. was a mean old fart, but his wife was very kind.
