I'm so happy to see you posting again, I've missed you! I've watched other explorers, but yours are always unique, you take the time to really show us what is around, and not just superficially, either. The only thing I can think of regarding the upside down photos could be of relatives that the home owner was on the outs with. Perhaps she turned them like that rather than hide them away, but didn't want to be reminded of them, either. Either way, it's a sweet little eccentric touch to a nice little home. I hope we will be able to continue seeing you again more often from now on. Thank you for sharing!
Hi Merry, I’ve missed you guys too, it’s nice to be uploading again ( Even though I’ve just been locked down again because of Coronavirus 😡) I think you could be right about the upside down photos, it makes sense rather than turn the photo to the wall. I’ve never seen it done before and I didn’t know what to make of it. . . . . . . . Thanks for watching
I'm so glad to see you back Best explores on RU-vid. What a sad house. All of those treasures lasted hundreds of years and now just left to rot. I hope someone will rescue them, before they are gone. Thanks for sharing this!
Hi Melody, good to hear from you again, I really love places that are full like this one with everything just left as it was. Loads of cool stuff to film for you guys including that miniature food at the end. . . . . . Thanks for watching
Hi Roberta, yes I’m very careful whilst going through people’s lives, it’s also interesting to see what people keep. . . . . Like those black and white funeral cards from the 1870s beautiful things but like you said a bit depressing. Hopefully my next video will be a bit more enjoyable for you. Thanks for watching
Hey there, been looking forward to another explore, it was worth the wait. Regarding the upside down photos and paintings often people with dementia will do that. Kind of like the place with all the green bags on everything. Still working on the riddle, let you know if I figure it out. Great to have you back, your work is the best bar none. Really appreciate your empathy for the lives lived and the history you take the time to check out make it a blast! Stay safe, well & happy.
Hey I finally got around to uploading this one which I told you about a while back. I like your idea about the upside down photos, it does make sense that someone with dementia would do this as it would probably seem quite normal to them. I still can’t work out that riddle thing either, really had me thinking for ages. The Perfect Man page was hilarious, I couldn’t help laughing as I was reading it😅 Speak soon
Could of produced a separate video for every room with this house, everyone filming these places seems to be in an adherent hurry to leave rather than bring a pack lunch and make a meal of it looool
Lovely to see your back. Just yesterday set bell on i pad (Trelise) now same here on phone. Will go back later to take another look at stone drawing. Upside down pics - can only think the Lady may have been sad at Christmas (or angry) may have felt forgotten and by look of house contents seems to be that way. No idea of the ski things. Anyway good to see you looking happy and healthy. Were bit concerned about the Covid biz. Susan NZ
Hi Susan good to hear from you again, I think you could be right about the photos being turned upside down for Christmas, maybe that’s just her way of dealing with being alone at that time of year? The Perfect Man page in the war book was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it😅. Thanks for watching
Hi Darren!! Welcome back!! The upside down photos are freaking me out, lol 😂👻. Looks like what a poltergeist might do...spooky. You going thru that album was fascinating. The history of it. I love how steady and slow you are with your video. Thank you for this explore! I loved it! Keep being awesome 😊. 👍❤️💕
Hi Chrissy nice to hear from you again, yes those photos are strange aren’t they? I wonder why . . . . . . . . . The album I just loved, such an interesting little book, the Perfect Man page was just hilarious 😅
Fascinating video, thanks. I love your level of attention to detail. Spot on. Most explorers only upload around 15 minutes, which doesn't do enough justice to the explore. I got the impression that the lady who recently left this house was very old, probably in her nineties or maybe over 100. Sad that she only had 3 Christmas cards, one of which was from her care agency and another from a concerned neighbour. There's occasional evidence of children / grandchildren (the framed photos), but the photos all looked at least 30 years old, suggesting that she became separated from her family a long time ago. Whatever went wrong between Iris and her family, it's really sad. The upside down photos are a real mystery - perhaps some kind of spiritual or symbolic statement by whoever did it.
Hey Mike, I’m glad you enjoyed the video, I always try and make sure I film everything that’s of interest in the place and that hopefully makes a more enjoyable watch. Thanks for your comments about the place:)
Great to see you back. Your the best explorer on RU-vid your attention to detail is second to none, love the way you take the time to show us all the interesting artifacts although you could do a second video on this place as there's still so much stuff to see. The upside down photos were very odd maybe the lady had some metal health issues, it seems she had family so its very strange that they haven't yet sorted her belongings out there are some valuable bits in there I'm surprised no one has claimed them. I love seeing the old photos and the small book with the drawings was amazing. Brilliant find thanks for posting.
Great not too fast at all, the content and length of the video obviously varies on the extent of the contents of the house, at least this video exists even if anything happens to the house now.
Hi Diane, I love places like this, full of interesting things like that ww1 book, that page on the Perfect Man was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it:) Thanks for watching
Wow I have really missed this channel, been so long that in fact when I saw this in my feed I almost just passed it by. On those upside down pictures, my theory on that is this lady most likely abandoned by the people closest to her (or they had passed long ago) and the memories of yesterday. They all represented the good times, and life had become the opposite for her in her final years. This was a statement by her. I say this judging by the fact the house & belongings have been left unclaimed for many years. She obviously died alone. So sad. Great upload and welcome back.
Those drawings in the photo album are awesome! I think a possible reason why the photos are upside down is perhaps the person didn't want to remember reality as it was like something happened in their life.
Hi, I like your idea about the photos being turned upside down, I think you could be right about it. Also I really liked the drawings in that small book too, especially the one with the guy holding a bottle of wine, amazing how some people can draw soooooo good:) Thanks for watching
Good Morning Stare, first of all it's really fantastic that your finally back, really missed your videos so really happy your back. What a place you found, so many great memories in there. I love the album you found with all the drawings in. Really strange with photos upside down. All those little medallion things on the long belt & in the draw were scouts badges which you would earn when you completed a task. It's such a shame that no one has come forward to claim all those things & everything is just left around. All those memories & valuables such a shame. I can't wait for the next video. Stay safe Stare. Andy. 👍
Hi Andy, yes I’ve finally uploaded a new video. . . . . . . And then found out today that where I live is going back into a strict lockdown because of coronavirus☹️ Thanks for the info on the scouts badges I wondered what they were? Yes that ww1 album was great, full of interesting things like that weird cryptic stone thing which I still can’t work out. . . . . . . The Perfect Man page was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing whilst reading it😅 Speak soon
@@stare6711 Hi Stare thanx for the great reply, sorry to hear about the lockdown in your area happening again. Hope your new baby is doing really well. Stay safe. Andy
OMG so glad to see your back and your brilliant filming ...Loved the little cereal box and stuff that was WOW neat, however this house seems spooky 😱great find for This month😉
Hey Brenda good to hear from you again, yes those little cereal boxes were great weren’t they? Actually I think one of them might be an American Wonka Bar, they didn’t sell them here in the U.K. but when I went to Atlanta years ago I bought one and it looked just like one of the miniature things. Yes I know what you mean about spooky. . . . . .just seeing all the photos upside down was spooky enough😱
I love places full of interesting things like this one, that ww1 album was great, especially the Perfect Man page, it had me laughing as I was trying to film it😅
Very interesting and yet very sad...... I’m glad you are posting again. I’ve tried watching other people but they are just not as good. So, yaaay!!!!!!!
Hi Ann, I’m glad you enjoyed the video, lots of interesting things to see, I loved the miniature food and the album with all the interesting war things inside:) Thanks for watching
Hurrah. You are back. You've been missed! The riddle says 'a stone for cattle to scratch on'. There is apparently a condition that causes people to see things upside down (I had to google it :-) that would definitely make life challenging. The old funeral cards were beautiful, but that 2 were for children really breaks my heart. Loved that little book with the riddle and the drawings. Thanks so much for sharing this explore with us. Looking forward to the next one!
Hi Susie, Well done solving the riddle, only 2 people so far have been able to get it😀 Yes I too loved those old funeral cards, they were beautifully done, such a shame about the age of the kids though, really hard to get hold of any medicine in those days. Thanks for watching
@@stare6711 Hi Darren, Well, thanks to covid I am finding new ways (exploring videos) and rediscovering others to keep myself entertained and occupied. In sorting thru memorabilia from my life in England I came across a puzzle book that I got for those long train rides--so, have been spending time these last months working on those puzzles--looking at things upside down and backwards etc.:-) guess my brain is ready for puzzle solving at least. Hope you and your family continue to be well. Eagerly looking forward to your next installment (no pressure though:-) susie
hi great posting you really find the best explores on the tube this place is incredible,,, baffles me how the relatives can abandon their parents belongings ( i didn't i couldn't,, to many good memories i thing i did notice a picture on a side-- board all upside-down except one a picture of old galleons in harbour,,,, i know the artist who painted that picture 2018 i bought a similar picture from him when i visited his studio in St Ives Cornwall whilst on vacation, in the UK your videos bring to life these abandon British home of past era,,, thanks,, stare,,,, Ed Sierra Vista Arizona US
Hey Ed, I’m glad you enjoyed the house, lots of interesting things to see, i think my favourite item was the ww1 album with that hilarious poem about the Perfect Man, sure made me chuckle whilst reading it😀
Ohh my goodness that little book with the drawings and poems was fantastic! Those different old photos so cool! The upside down pictures, makes me think there was definitely something going on with the mind...too bad she definitely had a great sense of humor! That wardrobe was soooooooo beautiful!
Hi Jean, it was only a small place but it did have some interesting things for us to look at, the Perfect Man page in that book was great, I couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it😀
What a fantastic find, obviously a heavy smoker. What a sad little place, you can feel the loneliness. What a beautiful fan, it looks like hand painted with ivory framework it’s worth a lot o money and should be in a museum. I know Chinese collectors pay a lot of money for them. Yes the upside down pictures are unnerving but dementia patients often do this . Someone’s life left within four walls, it was a privilege to get a glimpse into it. Thanks again stay safe 🙏❤️
Hi Catherine, thanks for the info on the fan, it was quite difficult to get it to focus properly on it but yes it was hand painted and quite beautifully done:) Thanks for watching
I’m glad you enjoyed it, lots of interesting things and history in this place. I especially liked the “Perfect Man” poem in the war album:) Thanks for watching
Hey Nathan, I’m glad you enjoyed the tour, it was a quirky little place with some really unusual things inside. That Perfect Man page in the war book was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing whilst reading it😅 Shame we’ve both been put back into lockdown from Friday. . . . . . .no more exploring for a while☹️
11:57 i figured the code out its backward it says a stone for cattle to scratch on and thats why the stone was in the field. thanks mate yes its a pain in the arse hooefully all these lockdowns end soon mate and we get back to normal again yes very strange place how do you find these sort of places. id love to come on an explore with u oneday
Hi Pam, yes I loved it too, sooooo many interesting things to see like that ww1 album with the Perfect Man page, I really couldn’t help laughing as I was reading it😅
I thought you'd left the planet - so good you are back!! Fascinating house but weird that the pictures were all upside down. Do you think someone was in there before you and did it as a joke?! Look forward to seeing more of your videos! Gill
Hi Gill, well described Fascinating and weird sums the place up well. I love seeing things I’ve never seen before in these kinda places like the miniature food and those beautiful but very sad funeral cards. I loved this one, glad you did too:)
Aye so nice to see you back ! I was wondering what happened to you . Love this exploring, there was probably a heavy smoker living in that house, the nicotine leaves a sticky residue on everything with times. This house is so full of stuff it would take more than a day to see everything. But I love the way you explore you take your time and with respect. I was wondering where are you from judging by your accent could be UK ? Thanks for that great find and hope to see another one soon !! 🇨🇦
Hi Mitsy, Yes your right I’m from the U.K., lots of interesting things inside this place, I’m always amazed what some people keep and pass on to future generations like those 3 beautiful looking funeral cards from the 1850s, very sad things to read so why have they been kept for soooooo long. . . . . . . . . Thanks for watching
Glad to see you again. Very nice exploration. For the photos it looks like an elderly person with cognitive problem like senility - Alzheimer's. Thanks for this amazing video. Lucy in the sky ... from Canada.
Hi Lucy, yes I think you’re probably right about senility or Alzheimer’s being the reason behind the upside down photos, it probably seemed quite normal for her to have them displayed this way. Thanks for watching
Hey , great vid , wow there is some history there , its so sad that the family or someone has gone through it all and sorted it all out , like your vids , keep it up , :-)
Great to see you back & with another little gem of an explore, some pretty interesting relics of their past left behind, hope someone solves the riddle of the stone & upside down photo's. So sad to see the hammer on the table & battle axe by the front door, hope she left before the covid arrived. Thanks for sharing it with us & keep safe, Regards Steve.
Hi Steve, it’s always good to find one stuffed full of interesting things, I really could have made the video soooo much longer by looking through all the drawers. Hope this one doesn’t get trashed as it’s a sweet little place:)
New sub and i have to say you are very good at this and such a natural at it😊 you can tell you are genuinely interested in doing this and not just for a RU-vid channel 💯😊♥️♥️
Hi Nellie, im glad you enjoyed the tour, it was a pretty cool place to look around with some really interesting things to talk about. Thanks for watching:)
@@stare6711 you are very welcome 🥰♥️ you seem such a lovely person too🥰 thank you for doing this and risking your health/life going into these very old damaged homes that could be very unsafe 😰 I love to see these videos and it makes you realise just how much it’s not “things “ in life that matters and all the money we spend to have nice things, is really not worth it. We should spend all our money on good memories and holidays. Forget having fancy homes and have more fun instead . We can’t take it with us when we go!☹️ thank you 😊♥️♥️
What a beautiful old autograph book in the living room drawer. They were popular up until the late '60's early 70's. I still have mine. That was certainly the home of a very heavy smoker, hence the stickiness of everything!
Hi Sheila, yes that autograph book was a pleasure to look through, I especially liked the Perfect Man page, I couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it:) Thanks for watching
Hey Robert, I’m glad you enjoyed it. My favourite find was that ww1 album with all the cool stuff inside like that Perfect Man page that I couldn’t stop laughing at😅 Thanks for watching
It’s good to see you back, are you on IG or FB? Still puzzled about the upside down pics, I may ask in some family tree groups in case it was something that the older generation used to do? Great find!
Hi Addie, no I’m sorry I’m not on IG or FB but I really should get on them. If you do find out any info on the upside down pics I’d love to hear what you think, I really can’t work out why she might have done it ????
@@stare6711 she seemed to like puzzles so that was 1 of my thoughts. The other is dementia maybe 🤔 I have asked in groups but nothing yet - fingers crossed someone has heard of it before. I’ll be back! 😂
First video of yours that I've watched and OMG what a fantastic find!! I wonder if the lady had either had a massive family feud or maybe had the onset of dementia? It's very strange whatever the reason!
Hi Leanne, I’m glad you enjoyed the quick tour of the house, there were lots of interesting items left inside, just the kinda place I love to explore:) I like your idea of the photos being turned upside down because of a family feud, I think you could be right there as I really couldn’t think of any reason why they would be displayed like this? Thanks for watching
What a sad, treasure trove of articles, memories. The upside down pictures could be a sign of depression...maybe of those who don't visit anymore. The mini food boxes could be from a doll house? I must say the folding fan, because of it's age and package, is most likely hand tatted silk(?) lace. The spines are probably ivory! That's something I could not pass on! It needs conserving and protected in a case! Thanks for taking us there. Save the fan!
Hi, thanks for your info on the items, especially the fan, it really was a nice quality item, just imagine how well dressed the person who used it would have been back in 1899:) I think you could be right about the photos being turned upsidown because of people not visiting, I hadn’t thought of that. . . . . Thanks for watching
9:26 i think is a plane propeller.(very old type of cessna) My uncle have same old but normally open where the screw are so you can see is this. All the browns spots is all nicotine, not mold, mold is grey or black. Its a ultra hard smoker, probably dead of cancer in christmas time. I continue the video...🤗
I have a idea🤔😎 Why don't take photos of all pages of 14:08 one by one and make travel all around the world each of this piece of art in honor of these artists. I dont think its the same person, not same style of drawing, not same writing, etc... Maybe its a book that soldiers pass with each others in the regiment. Imagine if in 100 years suddently you became famous for your art cause of internet. Its so easy for us to have recognition with social media and youtube...but not for them. Next time, try it....take pictures and post it all places you can 💗 Oh god, sorry for all that reading, but i miss you, men 🤝
I have make research for all these upside down pictures. The answer is not very cool. You can do that for afraid ghosts when you think of your house is haunted. Peoples make this since 1500 approximately. 👻
Hey Roxane, great to hear from you again, thanks for all your info on the items, especially the wooden propellers as I had no idea what they could be. Yes good idea with the art in the book, I also think it’s by different soldiers in ww1, such an interesting book full of history, it really should be kept safe and cared for by somebody. Speak soon
Hi Stare, the stone found in the field @11:41, put all the letters together and read it backwards. *ASTONEFORCATTLETOSCRATCHON* *A STONE FOR CATTLE TO SCRATCH ON* 👍
Great work John, only 2 other people who watched this video got that, great little book, full of history, such a shame it’s just been left there like that, I really hope some family member will save it one day:) Thanks for watching
Hey Gavin, I got lucky with this one as I was working on the house next door to it and noticed that it looked empty, after a few days I plucked up the courage to go and investigate 😀
If you read the words backwards and put the words breaks in slightly different places it says " AS TO ME FOR CATTLE TO SCRATCH ON" it's the sort of puzzle my Grandad used to like!!
Yes you’ve almost cracked it, it reads A STONE FOR CATTLE TO SCRATCH ON which makes sense why it was found in a field. You’re the only one who figured it out. . . . . . Congrats😀
A fresh change from other explorer vlogs I have watched where the home has been trashed vandalised and looted. I think an elderly person lived there and they are either in a nursing home or passed away. I hope you are the only one that will see this place as if the wrong people go there the place is doomed. Natural decay will win over in the end unless the family do something. Thank you :)
Hi Wendy, it was really nice to see this place just left the way it was, no one had been in there and moved things around for their photos or spray painted the walls etc. I think you’re right about going into a nursing home, makes sense why sooooo much was left in this place:) Thanks for watching
Hi Pamela, yes I wasn’t too sure if the place was empty or not but after a few times of checking I realised it was. Nice to see it like it was before it gets trashed by people🤨 Thanks for watching
I don’t speak German at all, but about that word “puzzle” you found….is it referring to “Crystal Night”? And I would LOVE to know why the photos were wrong-side up! That may well be forever unknown. If I had to guess what happened, I would say the woman had some sort of physical or mental emergency. She was removed from the home and likely died. That doesn’t answer why everything is left, why the upside down pictures or why the home remains intact (mostly). Very strange.
I,m new to your posts and explorations, you do show things with interest and don,t just flash past things and yes, loved that, ,wonderfull Autograph book, they used to do all sorts of things all those years ago ,in mine only nsignigtours.that is a real treasure.Thankyou for a terrific tour of this lovely ladies home…no answer for the upside down photos.Lyn in Australia..
Hi Lyn, thanks for your kind comments. Yes I do like to show as much as possible in these abandoned places, I find them so interesting and sad at the same time:) Thanks for watching
Hi Vittu, Not Scotland but in Wales, I really don’t know what the small looking pickaxe is in the kitchen, I’ve never seen one that size or shape before? Thanks for watching
Hi Bev, yes it certainly was creepy with the photos upside down, I still can’t figure out why they were left that way . . . . . lots of interesting things to look at inside this place, my favourite was that old war diary which was just great to see:) Thanks for watching
Home was kept neat, it’s sad they were a smoker! Even a megaphone! That album is a autograph album. And, some Urban Explorer probably turned all the pictures upside down to make others wonder why! Lol
Hi Linda, yes you’re probably right about the photos being turned upside down by someone else as I couldn’t think of any other reason why the lady would have done it in her own home:) Thanks for watching
Wow, that made me feel weird. It seems as if she was going to come in at any minute. And it made me think of someone going through my stuff after I've 'gone'. I reckon the photos had been turned upside down by a previous explorer as a prank or more likely, a superstitious relative who didn't want to be 'watched' whle ransacking. It amazes me how places and possessions get left to rot like this, there are always little treasures and valuable things left and surely the property has value and must belong to someone, it can't be council owned, they would not leave it that long. I think some of the food is more recent, maybe someone lived or stayed for a while after the lady (I assume a lady) died/left, no way were the bread and used tea bags over 5 years old! I think it was a lady with a heavy smoker husband, one of them had a connection to the church, maybe as a warden, and their son was a scout!
Hi Jan, great detective work, it’s amazing at what you can find out about someone’s life from just looking at a few things left in their homes. I like your idea about a family member turning the photos as to not be seen ransacking the place:) Thanks for watching
Thank you, and thank you for showing, I really enjoy your visits and commentary. And yes, it is amazing what you can dream up about someone you never knew x
Ha yes Mark you’re right it really does look like one of those eye test boards. I still can’t work out what it is though or how to read it. . . . . . . I did love the Perfect Man page in that book though, couldn’t stop laughing as I was reading it😅 Thanks for your comments and ideas.
Someone's obviously been in there,,and messed with things.Very sad, that the person's life is being laid bare, for the world to see.Sad the family havn't come and cleared it,and kept the photos.
there are many things in here i wish to be saved and put in a museum, i hope that whoever comes to clean it or demolish or what have you they dont just junk everything.
Hi Eileen, that’s great that you also have one of these autograph books in your family, if it’s anything like the one I found they are really interesting things to look through:) Thanks for watching
Hi Michele, yes I know what you mean about feeling sad, it’s someone’s whole life just left behind with no one to inherit anything. I do hope when this house sells that a charity can come in first and find new homes for all the lovely items left behind:) Thanks for watching
This was amazing house and the only one I've seen not randsacked n trashed it just looks like the older person just left to Hospital and never came back and the last room looked as if somebody started packing for them and got word they weren't coming back. Rather sad but it happens to all of us but you would've thought some family members would've claimed the place and things there. I just hope it stays that way until time takes it over and its not trashed spray painted up as so many are. The decline of our society is shameful and I'm only little over a half a century old now and can relate to and know about some of the items in that home... Thank You for this posting was a bit short for such a beautiful place they way you filmed this I almost felt like I was there Thanks for Reading From the States PEACE
Hey Kyle, I agree with you, it’s really difficult to find places that haven’t been trashed and robed so it was good to get to see this one in its natural state with things just left how they were. Thanks for watching
@@stare6711 vaguely remembered hearing this before and I googled it there is some kind of condition. Love your videos. So respectful. Nice to see u back
Maybe the lady had dementia? that could explain the upside down photo's. guessing she was mid to late 80s when she died. This video shows what we all have to look forward to. If these houses you go round ever get robbed, your fingerprints are all over them!
I love watching your videos, I get fascinated with old abandoned buildings and stuff, I'd explore them myself but I always seem to get caught by police or something, but at least I can explore them on RU-vid thanks to people like you 🙂🙂
Hi Carole, yes you could be right about a photographer turning them upside down. I just wish I could find more interesting places like this one as I loved filming it for you guys:) Thanks for watching
Thanks for letting me know about the clamp, I really had no idea what they were. no one else knew what they were either apart from you, one person thought they might be propellers but your clamp idea makes more sense:) Thanks for watching
Hi Graham, I think you could be right about the photos, I’ve had a good think about it and can’t think why but your idea sounds like the right one:) Thanks for watching
