I've had 2 xr elites and talked to support. Your passthough on the xr elite is not even a little close to how you advertise. It's an absolute mess. Not to mention the passthrough you actually show people is not the same you actually see in the headset. The way to describe your "high quality passthrough" is it looks like a very low bitrate mess and zoomed in when you wear the headset. The picture you show is a smaller frame. And any passthrough you record is shown in the same way. To see what you would would actually see in headset and to see the actually quality you get, you would have to stretch the passthrough image you see here out by alot. This is not just false information, but it is a straight lie and false advertising HTC. Dont even get me started on the shotty design of the headsets. I supported you as a vr company more than any other ever since your first headset. This amongst other problems and inconsistent headset quality that varies from Headset to headset from the factory, is not acceptable. Even if all the xr elites problems Don't bother you, you better hope when the headset lottery and hope you get a good one from the factory. I really want to see you do good HTC, but this headset isnt it. Do better.

I have worn a Quest Pro and XR Elite back to back. Unlike the Quest Pro which has this distortion effect when you put anything close to the camera, the XR Elite's passthrough allows you to use your phone easily. But that's really where it ends. With the Quest Pro, I can still peak down through the opening to use my phone and get all my phone notifications pushed to the headset. Despite the poor colour accuracy and resolution, the Quest Pro passthrough offers way better depth perception (good enough for me to run up and down the stair in passthrough) whereas the XR Elite's passthrough has no depth (suffers fisheye effect). The depth sensor currently does NOT work in passthrough to give you real-time depth perception, rather it is only used during MR room setup.

@@xarain it uses the two forward facing cameras to create a stereoscopic passthrough feed. It's all software based.

Quest 3 looks better than this, and it looks so cool when you walk around your house mapping the walls and furniture.
