No one does in depth, behind the scenes of movies as good as you. I had no idea that this was mostly re-shot, due to the audio and video being sub par. The Houses October Built is a very underrated horror film and I've been singing its praises ever since I saw it. I see that there were no ads playing before this video, so I'll be back tomorrow to watch this again. Thanks again for the quality videos, Cecil. Your Exploring series is easily my favorite thing to watch on RU-vid.

Adding- The series has added so many films to my watch list (even films I would have avoided, but the backstory is so compelling, I have to see how it all fits together). You should do affiliate links so you can drum up some cash to fund the channel. Some of the best word of mouth for under-appreciated films.

It blows my mind to hear these stories of people who are on one amazing career path in life and then they just go and switch to something else equally amazing (and worlds apart) with such ease. I know a guy who was a professional session guitarist who played with some amazing artists and one day he decides he doesn't want his passion (guitar) to be "work" so he stopped doing it for money and just decided to become a dentist! The man was in his 50s and only had a bachelor's, so he had to do everything- and succeeded!!

Knowing all the behind the scenes stuff makes me appreciate the movie more. When I first saw it, the movie kind of fell flat because it seemed they were just letting existing haunts do all the production work for them. I've worked for several years at a large haunted house, so it was nice to see haunts from around the country. Personally, I'm not a fan of "extreme haunts", (like chronicled in 'Haunters: The Art Of The Scare'), they just feel icky.and made the ending kind of unenjoyable.

Nice mention of one of the best shows of all time: Autopsy (HBO). It is the best true crime documentary series hands down. The female narrator has a haunting voice that matches the creepy soundtrack. They pull no punches and show uncensored crime scene photos. Anyways, good video!

I loved that show. Creepy as heck. Yep, Michael Baden is one interesting character. Anybody have any good autopsy stories? My dad went to college with a guy who became a mortician who told me (as a kid, mind you) that they once had to work on this guy who was killed while changing a tire on his car. The other car hit him and kind of rolled his body against the two cars. So, they had to count how many times he was wound up and I guess a new guy just lost his cookies during the process. Fun fun fun, eh? (brrrrr!) Now I'm creeped out. heheheh Here today, wound up like a lump of taffy tomorrow! Carpe diem, everybody! ;) :P

+cassius eagen Pretty much the same story here! I watched Cecile's entire backlog of vids when I was in the hospital for heart surgery where I almost died a couple of times. It really really helped. What's everyone's favorite GBF episodes? Some of my faves are the review of Uninvited which also has the first PsychoStick track ever used on the channel. Not the opening we see today; it's a song about the movie that is just freakin' hilarious. (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3Ol2k_dCJZY.html) I liked the intro so much that I put the clip up (along with links to the full vid) here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eW4As35oNkI.html :P Couple of others... The deep behind the scenes dive of the movie Blair Witch 2 (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hAkmHSzUIHQ.html) and the review of Fear (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZtlKPsHeU70.html). But, that's just a very few of the ones I like the most. I kinda miss his old intros sometimes. The one with Vanilla Ice nodding his head at the end is pretty funny. And the ones that had custom 3D animated intros were pretty neat, too. But, I think they probably took too much time to make. Anyway, take care, everybody! Cecile is awesome! Long live GBF! :D

I just watched this on Netflix, and I thought it was only just okay. I would like to see the original cut of the film that's mostly a documentary. The interviewing of haunt actors and owners is what I find interesting. Having a legitimate documentary and then flip into a scripted finale sounds much scarier to me, versus the 2014 remake where I know it's just a movie the whole time.

This reminds me so much of a doc I saw called "The Blackout Experiments" where people were actually trying to track down and be a part of "Blackout" billed as the most extreme immersive horror experience in America. The people who got in would get utterly fucked with and then they kept coming back for more with Blackout having to cut them off when they got too into it. From everything I've heard it's a real doc (there was a chick on there I recognized as a huffing addict from Intervention of all things) but having seen that first definitely made this feel more even more visceral because there are seriously people who go looking for and who do provide this exact kind of thing.

First, I am so glad you decided to cover this movie in an "exploring" video. I really enjoyed it, and even though I think it deserves a lot of attention I'm sort of glad it's been successful without having to give up it's uniqueness and independent film feel to achieve popularity in the mainstream. I thought it was genuinely spooky, and definitely stood out as a quality found footage flick. Super excited about seeing the sequel, especially after hearing that it features Anoka (one of my favorite places to go antiquing, and spend a fall day just absorbing the mood and atmosphere). I had no idea how much work and care had gone into making this film, but it definitely shows. Definitely going to keep my eye out for part 2, and I recommend seeing part 1 to anyone I can. Oh, and it was really fun to see someone dressed as the porcelain doll girl at one of our local haunted houses last year. I felt like i had achieved some level of coolness because I knew where the "monster" was from.

I worked at Nightmare New England in 2009 and 2010 and i became friends with the haunt community through that, i was only VIP tix but i did acting in the Asylum house for a few days, im still friends with everyone i worked with there. It was so much fun even though the actors that walked around enjoyed scaring the living shit out of me, this past year i went back as a guest with my sister and her bf and they all recognized me and said 'hey' its a great group of people with wild imaginations, because the walking actors not only make up their characters they make up their characters origin stories which as a writer i found fascninating. Great community! You havent lived until you work at a haunted house or haunted theme park at least once in your life.

I bet the original is a better story than the remake.

While the film never "scared" me - it did capture my attention. Knowing there was a sequel, with most of the remaining characters, killed any "dread"

So many intriguing facts behind this one (including the fact that I missed it...until now), but NO FACT is as concussion-worthy, as jaw-dropping and as face-palm worthy as the box office returns for the Paranormal movies....I mean, processing those figures and the people who drove them, in these moments I seeeeeriously start to doubt humanity's potential 😐

I worked in a haunted house a few years back and a co worker of mine almost hung herself on a fence. There was chains draped over it and she decided to put some loosely around her neck and prop herself up against the fence to pretend to be a dummy then as guests passed by, she'd slip through and run at them. Well she accidentally slipped and it made the chains tighten around her neck. Luckily another cast member was walking passed at just the right time and helped her before she was seriously hurt, or worse. She was a trooper though and after being checked out by the medical team she went right back to work.

I saw the remade version some time ago and consider the porcelain doll one of the creepiest characters ever. I would like to find the original somewhere and look forward to the sequels. I went into it thinking it was a documentary! Surprise!

When I was a kid, I visited a haunted house in Vienna. It was like going into a haunted ride, but by foot. I was there with my cousin and my aunt, and I was in advance, and they were several meters behind me. Near the exit, I encountered a person wearing a mask, I first thought it to be a statue like the rest. But right after discovering that he was human, my aunt called out for me. Me and the guy wearing a mask looked at each other, and signaled that he would scare them. Which he then did It was a hilarious moment.

Good movies. Must have watched the 1st film 20 times in October 2018. Another good one I found more recently is "Butterfly Kisses." It was and may still be on Amazon Video.

I remember my dad and I kept seeing a van that had the Houses That October Built on the side of it in Texas. It freaked us the fuck out because no matter where we went it would just appear. A few years later I found the movie and thought the idea was super cool.

I used to volunteer doing a haunted attraction in Asheville, NC for years until the couple doing it decided to drive a DeLorean around raising money for Michael J Fox’s charity. Best times of my life. Nothing better than making a big jock scream like a 12 yr old girl. Just makes you feel warm and fuzzy all over remembering.😋👻💀

I love stories about how executives at a film studio get the audience completely wrong. I used to deal with the same thing in game development. The egos are so off the chart that they have no grasp on reality and what people want.
