I love everything about LA... The GOOD and also what some people consider BAD!
Today i walk through the West Lake area. This area is pretty rough and even though it is going through a little "rejuvenation", It barley lost its grit.
I take a stroll through MacArthur park, explore the open air flea market on the streets of Westlake, and eat Guatemalan food from street food vendors. The whole experience felt like I was in another country.
Yes! I purposely avoided Langers
This is West Lake !

Love this area. We use to go the peojito market when I was a kid. The barbershop I use to get my hair cut is still there too.

@@baleberguista503 yup thats the place. When I was a kid (1985-1989) they use to have large bins of shoes and you had to go digging for the matching pair🤣. Cloths were also laid out sort of like Costco does it now. I’m gonna definitely go back and try to talk about what it was like back in the day. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cool video! I’ve only been to LA for work in the trucking industry. Every time I was there I wanted to explore more of the city and its unique culture but never had the time. Your doing a great job, keep up the good work. Cheer!🌳🥃

I used to live west of Vermont Street and I used to rent a storage unit 2 blocks west of MacArthur Park. I wish that more of the tall buildings were featured ❤❤

the buildings in the area are pretty cool, specially the mason building and the theater that's now a swap meet. there are still allot of other buildings from the 30s in the area. I grew up in west Adams but use to come up here to get a hair cut, shop for school cloths etc... this was mid to late 80s

This video is great. Better than the other ones. I like that you are giving cross streets and history. It’s difficult to see the map you sometimes throw up on the screen.

heh i've walked through this area as a tourist, i really enjoyed admiring the beautiful architecture. It seemed fine, although i was there during the daytime. Hell, even had a nice conversation with a store owner who thought i was Hispanic and started by speaking Spanish! (i'm Middle Eastern from Europe), it was all love though :p

😂 every-time I’m here there is always dope fiends fighting or someone passed out standing up, smoking Dope.. broad day light. Langer’s on Alvardo and 7th is one of the oldest delis in LA. Left it out because everyone talks about this place. Glad you can see past the negative and see the beauty of that part of the city. That’s real LA

There used to be a McDonald's very close to the Metro Station about 10 years ago. I'm an exercise fanatic so I've always been muscular. Anyway I was once in that McDonald's and went to use the restroom. There was a line to use the restroom. While I was waiting in line, a gang banger walked up to me and said I looked like a cop. I assured him I wasn't a cop, but decided to leave. I consider myself above average in fighting because I used to spar a lot for boxing, but I wasn't stupid. I didn't want to risk getting stabbed, shot or jumped by a bunch of guys.

That’s 100% true. Most guys that know how to fight or have been in a fight will try to avoid one. specially in a bathroom with a dude that most likely has a knife. That area is rough for sure

What were those blue pills that cost $2.50 each? The man shelled out $10 for four Warning (and this is serious): there does not seem to be any health inspector for those food booths. My friends developed Guillain Barre after he ate poorly cooked soup at a food stall in this area. That landed him in the hospital with 9 days in ICU. He has recovered fortunately.
