I started my SS at 62 1/2, my wife who is 20 months younger than me started at 62. With my pension for working 25+ years we’re doing just fine.That was over 3 years ago & we never looked back. Haven't touched our investments other than to travel. I had two brothers die of cancer 3 years apart. One died at 62 & never drew a dime of his SS. The other died at at 65 & drew 10 months. Let's be honest here, the reason the Government is offering you a bigger payday at 70 is because they're banking on you not making it!
totally agree with what you said about the gov! They benefit when we die! Never wait to start drawing pensions even if it is less money at the moment. You never know how long you’ve got and once you’re gone, the system just swallows up all your hard-earned pension funds. You work all your life so don’t wait any longer to live and enjoy!

I couldn't agree more. Having a financial advisor from the start is essential. I've experienced firsthand the impact it can have. Wow! Truly inspiring. I left London 9 yrs ago after turning 51, recycled literary all my belongings except a carry on & a small backpack, waved goodbye to all & I've been on the road since! Travelling, working, exploring & covering more than 30 countries thus far & it's hard to imagine settling down in one place right now, to be honest!

So honestly we’d be offended by the assertion. Maybe you were looking at Amelia and JP? Brian & Carrie? Retirement Travelers? They do nonstop click bait. There is also nothing in our held to review folder from RU-vid either.
My mother traveled with me throughout Asia and Europe for many years until she was in her 80's. We stayed in mid-range hotels and Airbnb's usually for a month but sometimes only a week or two. We kept a leisurely schedule and often spent an entire day relaxing. People outside the US show a lot of respect and care for older people, much more so than in America. They often gave up their seat on the bus, helped her with luggage and made sure she felt comfortable and safe.
This is great! We are 70 and 75 and often say we don’t know anyone in their 80s traveling full-time. Now we do. We are in our 4th year and find this interview quite wonderful!
Inspiring couple. If only Americans left their country once in a few years, their perspective about life and everything else will change completely. Too bad most don't even leave their state.
I really enjoyed watching this video. We're 66 & 68 years old and moving to Portugal later this year. We bought a small house in a village of 5,000 that has all services and a nice grocery store within walking distance. There's a major city with large hosptial 30 minutes away. The people in town have been so friendly and welcoming. With no housing expense we'll be able to live quite nicely and travel on less money than one of us receives for social security. That includes a small car and health insurance for the private system. Since we are emigrating, we'll also be on the national health system. We wanted a simpler more peaceful life with a slower pace and still be able to travel. This couple helped put my mind at ease about our future as we age in another country. "Slow travel" best describes what we want to do too! 😊

Loved your interview and it was wonderful to learn about another nomad couple in their 80s, as we are too. I'm 80 and hubby is 85. Our travelling styles are very similar as well as knowing where the best bakeries are!! Just do it! Hope to meet them on the road sometime. Happy travels to all

This is so inspiring! I am 68, and dream of travel, but never had time/money. Recently retired with little experience in travel and worried that I'm too old. I need to just start and give it a try.

…my advice…pick your “Dream Destination & amount of time” (I.e., 3 months in Paris) and a deadline (85th birthday) then start doing “practice runs” traveling alone -first close to home for a short period, then keep going further out for longer periods, all the while researching & planning your Dream Destination. You’ll know when the time is right to head out to your dream, and most all your plans will be complete. Bon Voyage 👋
You’re all inspiring. This is my plan after my kids are out of college; to sell and give away my belongings and work remotely so I can travel, and to keep doing it when I can draw Social Security. I already travel a lot for a person with a family and a full time job, and very few people are interested in traveling the way I do, which is similar to how all of you approach it. I think it’s mostly envy, but it’s not for everyone. So thrilled to see your interviews. Happy traveling!

We tried travelling but realised we’d get tired after 3mths and missed our home community and hobbies. At home we’re in an orchestra (we play Saxophones) and hubby plays golf with friends plus I volunteer in a toy museum. Travel is wonderful but you really do miss out on hobbies. We’re 66.
In my travels and living working in 5 countries outside the US - seniors are treated with much more respect then in the US, much more community and social skills. Great conversation Warren & Julie and lovely guests! See you on the road :)
Have they had the typical hip or knee replacement before they started this? What an inspiration. We are 67&73. We did live overseas 30 years ago and had some great adventures. Not sure we can pull it off again. I like the idea of mission work to begin it all.
Yes they found a doctor in Antalya Turkey who was inspired by them, he posted about them on his instagram. I shared the post in our Facebook group if interested in seeing it.
Such an energetic couple. Loved them. I have a question that was not explored. And may seem insensitive. They stated at their advanced age they don't have international health insurance due to cost. What are their plans, if any, for end-of-life.
I think less and less people are worried about being buried in their home area. Heck, we were military. The world has been our home. I don’t care where my body ends up.

You are very inspiring. We are planning to retire in 7 years in our late 50's. Have you been to Malta 🇲🇹 It is our favorite country so far that we have traveled to.
Warren and julie go to Costa _Rica. A bit expensive but rewarding and tranquil. Good medical service. I am almost 90 and travelled alone, they have a great insurance, enjoyed my stay and had a great time. I don´t eat junk food, nor smoke. CONGRATULATION TO YOU BOTH. Many insurance companies do not offer coverage for people over age 70...or it's just not affordable. A lot of senior travelers spend a few months in the US each year going to doctors, dentists, etc...on their Medicare plan and then travel the rest of the year uninsured.
In Canada we can't even access medical care for most people due to lack of doctors and overcrowded ERs plus waiting lists are years long for procedures. Another reason why Canada and US are horrible places for citizens and especially seniors now.
I hope you can do more interviews of people over 70 years of age. I wonder if this couple has medicare back in the US. Is there a type of insurance (affordable) that would fly them back to the US in case of a medical emergency?
Great news for us. I am 79 and still ready to go to the next adventure. Europe is a problem now, I can not find medical insurance, for a year stay in Spain. any tips??

The guy from Thailand, Iwatched an Interview he did... Apparently travel insurance, include some forms of Medical.. On;y while your traveling,. But as your travelling ever 30-90 days.. Is a cheap way to Subsidise any medical exp.. Covers you while you're travellng to a new place? slip and injury? covered.. Get bronchitis? Covered.,..
Great inspirational video of senior travel. Only concern was medical care and insurance. There are medicare plans that includes international insurance. Were they not able to get one of those plans?
So where do you go for the next 90 days? Is there a close by country that is an overall good option? There are so many areas I would want to go to and stay for at least a month at each one.
We do what’s called the Schengen Shuffle, there are great countries to go to such as Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey, Albania, Macedonia, Bosnia, as well as the UK and Ireland, with an easy reach of mainland Europe. We had also visited Ukraine before the war, and it was fantastic. Until this year Romania and Bulgaria were also options.

Sorry at this age Not safe to be doing these adventures around the around .Mom is nearly 80 and spends 6 months in Portugal! Very stressful for us kids that live in Canada.Usually we get many phone calls her telling us how sick she is and Not able to get help and medical care ! Every year we say goodbye not knowing if shes going to come back🤷
I've known parents to exaggerate their health conditions for attention. It's hard to say without knowing the parent. Probably make a visit to Portugal in person to help set up some medical resources and see what is needed. Best of luck.

In many parts of the world I would not go out alone at night as a solo female, but I have never feared it in the Balkans, most parts of Turkey or Central Europe. We have not traveled Mexico in many years.
