I vacationed in Poland last fall from the US, and went to a casual restaurant in Warsaw. I had a full rack of ribs with potatoes, and a bowl of soup, and two Czech beers that were only 3 euros each. The total price of the meal was 23 euros. Being curious, I took out my phone, and went to the Chili's menu (a popular chain restaurant in the US) and compared prices. A full rack of ribs on the Chili's menu is $23.99, the soup was $5.99, and two beers at $ 7.00 each would have brought the total for the same meal in a popular US restaurant to $ 44.00 USD, and THEN you are expected to add a 20% tip on top of that for a grand total of $52.80 😲 I've basically stopped eating out in the US, and I am saving my money until I can finally do what you guys are doing !

Wow, thanks for the information. That’s incredibly expensive for a chain restaurant. We love Poland. We have visited so many parts of the country and loved the summer weather, food and the people.

Great Summary WnJ. I like the fact that you listed the Bnbs u stayed in, a tour of the BnB, the rates etc. and the detailed breakdown on lodging. This helps a lot for some one wanting to duplicate the itinerary you did that will be a breeze from planning side. The details are really appreciated. On the spend side i must say you did excellent for all the fun and enjoyment for a month overseas. Have a Great 2024 filled with fun travels.

The other nice point is, they are doing it without any referral money paid. AirBnB canceled their affiliate marketing program. Lots of travel content people stay in airbnb but affiliate market for other platforms.

Great stuff guys. $100 USD a month on cellphones, yikes. That's $4800 USD in a 4 years. That is a ton of money. We went to esim and international text only, no data for about $10 a month per device (we have 2 phones) plus a 3rd phone we can toss a local sim in for data, or buy an esim. You can download your google maps offline - I see no compelling reason to spend lots of money on your home phone plans.

This really is a great way to look at this $4800 over 4 years. You have inspired me to reconsider. Thank you for taking the time to write!

As a US domestic nomad I always fill the gas (petrol) tank in the cheapest area also. Good tip. If I know the next place is cheaper I just get enough to get there.

12:35 Got dizzy from how fast you were moving the camera. That aside these cost breakdowns are so well done.👍🌞 Great points about Abby and getting around. I know I say this often, Thanks again for sharing your journey with us. It really does help us see that one doesn't have to spend $5,000 or $10,000 a month to travel the world. 😊 What was you most favorite thing about Sicily compared to the least favorite thing?
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 6 месяцев назад
Sorry about that camera work. We are still in Sicily so we are undecided on a final answer. Many populated areas of Sicily appear a bit rundown, and there is a lot of trash along the roads. Some areas are pristine and they definitely make you see the potential. We like the winter weather so far which has been spectacular. We have more popular places to visit so this is to be continued. We liked the area near Valley of the Temple along the coast San Leone and a nice surprise stop in Marina di Ragusa was very pleasant, we are thinking about it as a possible winter destination it was very clean.

Thanks I found the info and prices for ferries most interesting. We have a place near Kuşadasi and I keep encouraging my husband that we must drive from our home in Ireland near Dublin through Europe to Turkeye with our dog Holly. If you ever think of coming to Ireland when you are in uk and Scotand later in the year. PM us. You are welcome to house swap. We are well situated for lots of sights,Tara,Newgrange,Battle of the Boyne etc. Have a blessed year. Colettexoxo

What is your experience booking apartments recently ? I see the prices moved up quite significantly , comparing to 2 years ago. I used to book Budva or Antalya off season for $400-450 per month, nothing even close now… did you have to adjust your lodging budget ?
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 6 месяцев назад
This is in large part due to Russians and Ukrainians escaping the war. Many lower cost properties are off the market now driving prices up in each category. We are seeing 25% to 40% higher in these areas.
@JayandSarah

@@WarrenJulieTravel big time. So many places have had this as a result of this Russian Ukraine situation.

Liked and subscribed. Is it very hard to drive in Europe, does Google maps cover all the routes accurately or any mixups based on your experience ? Rental cars better or public transport better in Europe ? Cheers 👍
@WarrenJulieTravel

It’s just getting used to driving in Europe, it’s a little different initially. You have smaller roads, you need to become an expert at parallel parking. Roundabouts if you did not grow up with them, take a little getting used to, after being in Europe for quite a while I see them as a convenience versus having stoplights everywhere. I’m not sure if you know or not, but we do our driving with our own vehicle that we have registered under a corporation that we have in Bulgaria for the sole purpose of having a car. Doing a rental car, long-term would be quite expensive, and at some point potentially prohibitive based on your budget. The pick up and drop off being in the same location could also be a real drag. If you have your own vehicle to explore with, I would recommend it, it saves on airfare and makes it much more comfortable to travel with more items. If you are willing to travel and use public transportation, it is far superior to what you have in the US in most cities. You could take trains from country to country as well. We just did a video with the company that can make it easy to get a car in Germany, which in many ways could be superior to what we are doing through Bulgaria. Google maps will get you where you need to go. Sometimes we use Waze. However, I am suspected whether or not we get the best routes, it seems we may get off the highway and take a less than advantageous small road just to end up going back to the highway later on. Sometimes Google maps maybe calculating that you can drive at 90 km an hour on a road based on the type of road it is in the country and the max speed limits for those types of roads, but the road condition may be full of potholes and winding roads up cliffs where that speed limit is unachievable, unless you don’t want to survive. If your patient driving can be rewarding and offer you the opportunity to see more of the countryside and small towns. Fuel can be quite expensive so an economical vehicle with good gas mileage is very important if you were trying to maintain a budget.

Hi, this is the first video of yours I watched, came up in suggested for me. I was wondering how you are able to spend extended times in Europe. Do you have a European residency somewhere? Can you suggest any videos on your channel where I can learn more about that?
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 6 месяцев назад
Yes I can, we have made over 260 videos and touch on many topics and at times we provide the information multiple times. however we know having you watch every video would be a tough endeavor, and we even created a few useful videos for International Living. I've put together videos in this play list that should give you answers and motivation. We do not have residency anywhere and we travel with our pups, we hope you enjoy the list I compiled here: ru-vid.com/group/PLkOobSSGsmh7Z4FydpgH7lEAqFB4brPMB

I like going on road trips with my big dogs here in the USA and stay in rentals, but the cleaning fees and pet fees are astronomical! It's not practical to rent a place for a night or two... I'd be paying hundreds of dollars in fees regardless of the duration of my stay 😥. My two dogs are standard poodles so they don't shed, are professionally groomed every other week, and I travel with waterproof blankets that I place over all furniture just in case. Are you being gouged by extra pet and cleaning fees in Europe? The prices seem so reasonable.
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 6 месяцев назад
We completely refuse to stay anywhere that charges us anything more than 5 euros per dog per night and that is for a one or two day stay. I would never pay that on a long stay. We have stayed in many places throughout Europe that do not charge a cleaning fee at all. Poodles are beautiful and I love that they do not shed. I cover furniture with blankets each time we arrive to an AirBNB. Thanks for watching us.
