Till the export showcase I was scratching my head - Why I don't have RU-vid settings as he's showing, but then I've just connected Resolve to my RU-vid channel and restarted it - and voila. Great tutorial, thanks!
I've been wondering how people have been just adding a ton of markers throughout videos whereas in the past - few people did it and only did a few markers when they did. This makes it so easy
Thanks buddy. Extremely helpful. A good tip, make sure you first connect your RU-vid account in Davinci resolve, otherwise you will not find the RU-vid settings display under custom export.
Thanks for sharing this. I knew about the custom export and the RU-vid export, but did not know the upload to RU-vid was available on custom export. Found your video first with a google search, so your SEO is working very well. I made the same mistake with the 00:00 Start.

@@PhillipRPeck To be honest I just couldn't wrap my head around FCP. Cutting in Resolve just seemed natural to me. Not to mention the color grading of Resolve is something I've been wanting to get into for a long time. Performance on M1 is just icing on the cake.
@@GeraldBertramPhotography I think editing w/ Resolve is very similar to Premiere. Sure, the layout is different, keyboard commands might need to be changed to your liking, but the concept of it is largely the same. Getting out of that subscription model is major!
I also avoided the old RU-vid preset because of the low bitrate! Glad to see they fixed this. BTW if you are rendering multiple jobs does it upload to RU-vid while rendering the next video?
Insert chapter titles using timeline markers. I follow the instructions exactly. In VLC player the chapter titles are displayed but after embedding the video on youtube the chapter titles are not displayed 🙁 Is it possible that it has an effect if there is a note in the Copyright Restrictions column for some videos?
This 'upload direct to RU-vid' feature fails about 70% of the time. Does anyone know if you can just copy and paste the marker info from resolve and paste it into a video description manually?
I've been hearing that Resolve may have changed or broken this functionality with updates after I posted this. I need to go back in and verify so let me check and see, but in the meantime, this may be something that's not currently working
It looks like the upload to RU-vid has been removed from the Custom settings... ...which isn't a terrible thing because the upload directly to RU-vid was kind of buggy. But it looks like you can still export the chapter markers and titles but you'll have to manually upload to RU-vid.
Are The Chapter markers/times/Discriptions List in the youTube Ceated directly from the marker Name or do you still have to upload a (LIST) to youTube? Also you have no idea my frustration of where the Markers were Placed Time 2:50 (Time line Clip or Time Line Ruler). Thanks I just Subed.
If you do it this way, then you do not have to upload a .csv or anything to YT. However, it seems that with the full release of Resolve 18, you now have to use the RU-vid preset to take advantage of this. As far as I can tell, the RU-vid metadata isn't available in custom exports anymore for some reason

Is there a way to test the Chapter Markers to see one didn't make mistakes (I can't catch spelling or other mistakes until render/Upload to RU-vid then after finding mistakes I have to correct the Mistakes in DaVinci the reRENDER/Upload to RU-vid only to find there are still mistakes. Being able to run the chapters on my computer before upload would help. The 60th '62 OHS Class Presentation Video I'm trying to upload now is over 3 hours long and requires 57 minutes to RENDER/UPLOAD.
You can edit the Chapter Markers in the description box on RU-vid. You can edit the description box infinitely after you upload a video. You could just set the video to private and check for mistakes before setting it to public. Does this answer your question?
Thank you so much for making this update! Question. I don't want to upload directly to RU-vid but rather, export the markers as a text or excel file so that I can copy and paste when I do upload. Is there a way to do this? After I rendered my video with the 'chapters from markers' selected, there appeared to be a drx. file. Could this be the markers?

@@PhillipRPeck Thank you for your reply. the resolve 18 doesn't have the 'export' option under 'timelines' when I right click in the media pool anymore. There are only 'new timeline', 'import', and 'show log'.
@@lyra_hou Hmm ... I'll have to look into it, it's been a minute since I've tried messing with that. I typically just look at the markers on my timeline and type the timestamps into my YT videos (there's not that many usually)
I messed up and some how moved my whole time line and of course all the Chapter Markers are OUT OF SYNC. I know some where I screwed the pooch and can't find How to fix this fopa. Can someone please point me in the right direction. I know how I have seen this problem and if I remember correctly there is a fix other than moving them one by one. I did go to one of 2 backups that were dated yesterday the 24 of april but it is alsoessed up. PLZ Point me to a solution.
I don't know if this is possible. I don't think there's any sort of metadata that connects the markers to the clips beneath, they just hang out at the timecode where you placed them. I could be wrong but that's my guess. You can download the Resolve User Manual from BMD's webpage and 'control' or 'command' + F to search for Chapter Markers. I did a quick scan and didn't see anything but maybe you'll have better luck
But if the ATOMATIC Upload to You Tube FAILS you are SOL because then Your Chapter Makers with NAMES fails to UPLOAD too. Now if you want CHAPTERS you MUS Tresort to making a HAND MADE (Typed) List of Times - Names the old way, Then proceed to uploa it to you tube The old fassioned way. I have NEVER EVER gotten Davinci to automaticly UPLOAD to YT from the RederPage.
